Last year Jeremy and Tam took their motoring adventures to Japan. And after unsuccesfully representing their country Malaysia in trying to drive Malaysia's first National Car to Vietnam, this time they tried representing Malaysia in climbing to the top of the highest point in Japan, Mount Fuji. With very little experience in mountain climbing, and no physical training, this their Malaysian's Guide to Climbing Mount Fuji. (Mount Fuji Tour)

How many KG is the bag that you carried along the journey? Do they provide Porter service?
@JeremyToh
@JeremyToh 8 месяцев назад
It’s probably 5-7kg with all the camera gear, doubled once I had to carry Tam’s camera bag. Haha. I haven’t heard if they provide porter service, but you can always check. Staying on the mountain overnight surely helps with the climb.

You're strong !!! Extra 1kg will be a burden for me. Ha ha ha ... thanks for the sharing and the great video. Btw, do you need to make any advanced booking for the Mount fuji trip? When did you book for your last trip to Mount fuji? I want to book for 2024 🙌
@JeremyToh
@JeremyToh 8 месяцев назад
If you want to stay on the mountain, you will definitely need to book in advance. There are only that many places to stay on the mountain. But if you plan to hike up and down within a day, then no problem, there’s plenty of accommodation down by the mountain.

Great video!!! Someone else pointed out the Fujinomiya trail is here 0:56, not the Yoshida. They are 100% correct. The Gotemba trail goes to the right of the little bump/crater. The Yoshida trail is almost on the other side.

This was an EPIC climb up Mount Fuji, and we loved every moment of it. We try to share how it felt during the climb and try to make it inspiring so others may want to visit Fuji too, but the video may not have come across as interesting to the RU-vid algorithm. If you think this is an interesting video, please to share it to someone who may enjoy these kind of videos. Thank you for your support. We appreciate it. We did prepare a Sarawak Flag, only to have left it back in Kuching during this trip. 🤦

1:00 Nitpick: I'm pretty sure that's the (road to the) Fujinomiya trail, as it's the one that goes right next to the Hoei crater :)
@eisenklad
@eisenklad 4 месяца назад
yeah that's Fujinomiya trail. yoshida trail is the furthest from Hoeizan
@scotttowle8208
@scotttowle8208 Месяц назад
I was going to say the same. But you beat me to it. You are 100% correct. The Gotemba trail goes right of that "bump" and the Yoshida is on the other side.

I was there the day after you, so was making my way up (also no experience and climbing solo) as you guys were on your way down. Thanks for documenting this so vividly so I can relive it again. The incline was no joke!

Would it be a good idea to bring along an O2 canister? Which trail did you descend from? Yoshida as well? Do I need garters to prevent pebbles going into my shoes?
@scotttowle8208
@scotttowle8208 Месяц назад
Most people do not get altitude sickness. If you are concerned then try breathing through a straw for 5 minutes a day for a couple days beforehand? This may increase your RBC and you will be fine. An oxygen canister would not do you any good except for the time you use it and only for minutes.

8 hours climbing, but we spent close to 24 hours on the mountain.

16 of july 2019. i went there 1.5 week earlier... 4/5th july 2019. it was raining too. solo bullet climb in the middle of the night, i started at 10pm. it got so cold my power bank stop outputting power. and because it was raining, instead of resting at each hut area, i stopped only for 5-15mins to eat some chocolate. soaking wet, cant even swap batteries on my action cam. well, i didnt reach the summit due to 2 reasons, 1: the summit was inaccessible. they were still doing repair works to the Yoshida path above 8.5th station 2 : i experienced mild altitude sickness at original 8th station. i also overheated myself in a sauna in Sapporo on the 3rd of july. well, they say only a fool climbs mount fuji twice. so i will be a fool this mid july 2024. my plan this time is starting on the Gotemba 5th station, heading towards Hoeizan peak after the 6th station, then back on the Gotemba trail. after reaching mount Fuji's peak, my plan is to go down the Subashiri path. this is my "revenge" since Yoshida and Subashiri path are combined after the original 8th station
@JeremyToh
@JeremyToh 4 месяца назад
Sounds like an amazing plan! I would take it slower and enjoy the sights rather than power through. Maybe that’s why you got the altitude sickness. Remember, it’s as much about the journey as it is the destination. Gambateh!

Not sure why but the video I am watching is "cropped" and I can only see 80% of your frame. Also your Download button is active FYI.... it would be good to share about coming down... is that easy/tough? rocky path looks scary for coming down especially
@JeremyToh
@JeremyToh 6 месяцев назад
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We’ll look into providing more information on the downhill course.
@eisenklad
@eisenklad 4 месяца назад
coming down on the yoshida path is easy. but take it slow, recommend having a hiking pole or two so that you slip down the wet stones near the top. if you wear a high cut hiking shoe, you can avoid wearing gaiters. the path is gravel/small stones. idk about the other paths but i will be attempting Gotemba and Subashiri paths this july

The fact that Fuji hasn’t erupted in over 300 years is why you should worry. It’s overdue.

@scotttowle8208

Large eruptions there happen every 500 years and the last one was 300 years ago I think so it is not necessarily overdue. Maybe a small one but ... ?
