While your solution is valid, calling them “rich and careless” is unfair and inaccurate. If that’s the case then we should just accuse every victim of elaborate theft or elaborate fraud to be “rich and careless”. It’s not true. This dealer, who I’ve watched for years, is as top notch and honest as they come. A reputation beyond stellar. Playing MMQB is fine until you give them those unfair titles.

4 men there, that's a significant split. You can't just move this stuff at retail, lol. Every sale is an opportunity to be caught. And if they just split the cards 4 ways, with a promise never to re-slab, and not to sell anything for 10 years, good luck with one of the 4 never breaking the pact. Their best bet would be to sell the lot to a high net worth private collector who just wants to own these cards and doesn't care to show them or sell them. If these cards would sell for 1.5M at auction, I doubt a collector would give them more than 300k for that with all the heat and limited options. IT sounds like a huge score here, but the reality is that even if these men get away with it, none of their lives will be significantly impacted financially. All 4 men are wearing hats, but you get really good looks at the bigger, goofy guy. They just need to find one of them, and that'll be the end.

there's cameras everywhere. anything with this type of money involved would make a police department famous so they will get every camera in the city to track them. it's impossible to do this stuff anymore. especially with cell phone tracking data and social media recording everything. and once one card is submitted or sold it will be compared to these ones under a microscope by the community. the only way they're not caught is if they're illegals and they smuggle them out of the country and just sit on them and do private sales in cash

This shit was planned very carefully. In a wide open conference room someone was stacking fucking chairs to blend in. Grabs the goods without anyone noticing. Looked to be the youngest of the bunch too. Word is they changed clothes throughout the day. This wasn't planned on the fly in a single day. Someone has had their eye on this dealer for weeks or months. The small details of this heist are too carefully orchestrated. The older accomplices are distracting the dealers to perfection. The female at the top of the frame is suspicious as well. None of them looked at any cameras. You know they knew they were there. Some thieves are simply brazen enough to not care and someone experienced knows that looking straight at one is a sign of nervousness. The guy bumping the kid is definite post-grab jitters but everyone else was calm as a glass of water. Even the kid bolting with the case. He grabbed that shit like he owned it and knew the most direct route out of there while looking normal. Being caught on camera and actually caught in the act are two totally different things. Luckily it only takes one suspect to talk and the dominos start to fall.

@@justinc5429 Probably not the organizers and those behind the Dallas Card Show itself. They bill themselves as the biggest show in America and probably wouldn't want to wreck that stature. But remember they hold this show like 6 times a year at the same venue. So isn't difficult to know the hotel, conference areas, it's layout and such due to the show being there multiple times. Could there be peripheral involvement by someone that knows inner workings? Sure. It's possible. The biggest factor I think will be the dealers history posting on social media. Let's face it those who own lots of expensive cards love posting them on Instagram, FB, TikTok, etc. You just know the thieves were studying and keeping tabs on the owners of these cards. They probably knew what kind of case they were stored in to be transported to shows from social media posts. I almost guarantee it.

Maybe there’s another suspect somewhere else in the venue watching the actual owner of the cards who was not present at the table at time of this incident, giving the green light to his co-conspirators by phone once confirmed the owner was also distracted and/or far enough away to not make it back during the heist. Car thieves steal $100,000 cars, and get paid $500. The guys on film are long gone. Ring leader is likely a shady dealer, who's set up at that same show location a few times with the victim dealer ; (easy to check). He's watched the wealthy dealer carelessly exit with his big $ cards before. Likely the graded cards are cracked. In a few months, at shows far away, young paid criminals will go to a show and sell or trade the raw cards for expensive cards. PSA/SGC could provide a private link to the sponsors of large shows going forward, with clear photos of the stolen cards, which are provided to the paid dealers at each show.

If this was not a highly coordinated INSIDE job (notice how even the vendors who were done being "distracted" kind of meanders a bit, not turning around, not one of them looking back at their table right away, but slowly doing so heistantly like they are waiting to be sure the "robbers" are clear of the area), this should be fairly easy to track where those guys are going. There are cameras everywhere nowadays. If they can easily backtrace Jussie Smollet's attackers from the scene of the hoax all the way back to their home via the street cameras, business camers, ring camers, car cameras etc.... This isn't some farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. This is a major hotel in the middle of a major city. If they wanted to, they can probably backtrace each person and know exactly where each of them went and what they did all day. Not to metion, all they have to do is identify one of those guys names (many ways to do that), get their cell number, and viola, gps-track them. That is, if it's not an inside job....

Call my cynical but if I owned that much inventory at those prices, am I just leaving it in a black case, under a table, while my backs are turned? I understand the video shows a "coordinated" team of people distracting the people working the booth but when I see people pack up from shows, I see them leave the cases on top of the table, in eye view, so they can watch them and if someone walks up to them, they always seem to have 1 eye on their inventory? I have never seen anyone pack away this level of inventory and place under a table like it is some box of supplies for your office? Again, hope they get their stuff back if this is legit but with sports cards being in the new recently with the last "theft" in Cleveland (I believe), is it beyond the realm of possibility that these folks need to "make some cash" quick, knowing the cards could be returned and their claim would be based on todays prices vs. what they went for 4+ years ago? Hopefully the owner has alerted the big 3 (PSA, SGC, BGS) of the theft so they can be on the lookout for these cards coming in for grading; IMO it would be a red flag for someone to submit them for grading. Also letting the bigger card shops like Burbank know to be on the lookout for them, in the end they may have no avenue for selling them. And if everyone floods social media with the news and shares it there will be no way to unload them at all.

Just awful, I blame the flipper community for bringing in all of these bad actors into the hobby. It’s not supposed to be a business it’s just supposed to be a fun hobby but now days half the people in it only care about how much money they can make flipping. Unless cameras catch him, he’s just going to break them out of the slabs and sell them raw or just regrade them. They are mostly likely just gone sadly.

I hate quick flippers too, but "it's not supposed to be a business, it's just supposed to be a fun hobby" is out of touch. The dealer with $2 million in vintage wasn't doing this as a fun hobby. Even if a "hobbyist" is buying a 100K Mantle card, he wants it to hold value or appreciate, even if just being left to the kids. I remember the 80s, junk was era, people buying packs and then seeing what they were worth in Beckett magazine. Card shows existed then too, with dealers selling expensive cards, and kids trying to get 10 or 20 bucks for a card they just pulled. It's always been a combination of hobby and business. If it were just a hobby, people would mostly trade cards and the most expensive cards would be like $5. Acting like cards have ever been just a hobby since at least 1980 at bare minimum is out of touch.
