The guys mentioned more than once that Suga and RM forced the participants to listen to different types of music and different musicians. even now RM makes various recommendations of songs that he listens to and he is truly very versatile in musical genres. This passion for different styles of music and passion for musicians, rap artists is what allows them to be so unique. It was nice that they respect that music and those musicians whose music sparked in them this dream of creating their own and now we can enjoy their work. As I have said many times, I'm not into much rap. Never got into it (except Tom MacDonald), as 8 of 10 times, you can't understand anything they're saying. Some beats are nice and hard, tho, and I get into that. As we all can see, BTS sings a LOT more songs in English than SB19 or others do. That gives them a different niche that works for them. I still prefer SB19 overall, tho. There are numerous U.S. rappers that I have obviously heard of, know a few raps, but still never follow them. Even many of the older style.
