Destiny and her newfound companion put their hunting skills to the test!
Destiny, daughter of Maple and Midnight, sets out into the back woods of Slough Creek to form her own pack and start her own family. But she, like her mother, finds herself in a harsh and unforgiving world with only her instincts to guide her. In this challenge we are unable to use the map or HUD and must play by blind intuition, unable to see our health or stamina, identify the specifics of scents, know whose territory we're in, or see where our threats may be coming from. In the absence of the markers that we usually use to guide ourselves, we must trust our instincts and hope they lead us true.

I think the devs have changed hunting a lot, so hunting like a real wolf with their tactics is far better than it used to be. For this challenge, I would recommend some updated hunting tactics I've learned if you want some safer hunts. Chase much longer before biting. After a couple hexes there will be a Drastic sorting of elk with the strong in front and the weak will be Visibly Slower and at the back of the herd. The weak ones straight up can't keep pace. I addition they will be exhausted- so if you catch your breath by not sprinting for a little bit you will have The Best damage to recoil ratio. In addition it is pretty easy to isolate these slowed ones from the herd after a couple of hexes. No trample damage this way. If the herd has led you into stranger territory you can herd one weak elk back to a better spot in your territory to finish the kill. They really do get that slow and weakened. If you want to break immersion you could almost kill it at the den doorstep this way but that's probably not quite your style ;)

It is absolutely better to chase and watch for weak elk, I also love to heard the elk to be half to 1 hex away from my den in general. If they are too close to the den I find predator attacks can also become carcass confrontations. I will say the hearding has gotten a little more challenging in that I've seen a stronger draw to the heard. However still very doable. Also if the elk is not responsive to my proximity to heard them a nip on the side can help turn them. Also if the stand ground back off in the direction you don't want them to go. Just to the edge of where they flee. Love this tactic. Much better than a carcass in stranger territory

If you loose the den you can always woof to send your mate home and then follow him.

I love when Bears come to my carcass. I use them to test my potential mates. Works really well. lol

You keep calling him Mystery Man, so what if his name is Mystery if you take him as your mate? Also glad to see he's got a genetic grey coat that's kk! Hopefully your pups won't be getting sick with him Edit: Hadn't quite watched the whole way yet lol, guessed his name right at least! XD

I can't wait to see how her story plays out! Sometimes I will use my keyboard and try to use map, or other controls while watching your videos. It's like a natural instinct at this point, second nature to me lol.

Hey, Jay! Are you ever gonna play Untamed: Life of a Cougar again? I LOVE that game and it’s SO FRUSTRATING and I really wanna see someone play it, and possibly even bring light to the game and make it more popular! I would absolutely freak out if you played it again

I love the idea of this challenge and think this map is definitely the best choice since youve been here a lot. If i were to do this i honestly woulf choose the mcbride lake cliff den myself since id be able to follow the river to it and know where the really close by alternate den is right past the cliff face in case of den issues (plus i know where the close bu rendevous are there), but thats cause i have a fondness for that den and choose it most times so know that area best. I cant wait to see where this story goes and i hope it does well for both Destiny and Mystery!

Lol I think you're giving me the challenge bug. Though I don't think I'll attempt this with an iron wolf myself. At least for a while. I like to test the waters and tempt fate a bit too much sometimes.... kinda auto pilot to a more aggressive play style. Even with my ultra ironwolf. Instinct pack is a good suggestion, Mystic, Rune, or Gambler's pack would be some other thoughts at the moment

Also! I’m sure after Maple we’re all too familiar with bear scents. But as a tip they are always dark blue, unlike the mulies that are a less saturated blue with almost a purple-y tint? . I’m not fortunate to have wolfquest yet, but I can do colors! So anyone who needed it I hope it helps

I may not follow through with this idea but Iove your videos and I was wondering if I could write a narrative on one of your wolves I might use this one if the answer is yes because it has more of the challenges a wolf has but my mind travels a lot. I was just wondering but if you say no I won't be upset

I’ve just started my instinct + acc ironwolf challenge and the two males I’ve met are both white stars. (I’ve permitted myself to check stats and health whilst sleeping) edit: I’ve also decided to hide the territory itself in the map, so I’ll have to memorize where enemy territory is.

oops iii wasn’t paying attention and got oneshot by a bear oh well, I’ll take a pup from a wolf that I’m planning to use in saga, ironwolf it, and try again.
