I've been locd for 8 months and it's because you said that I don't have to go to a loctician. I've been successful at doing it myself after following my heart on the pattern. It's been totally fine. Now I feel the connection to my hair that I've been searching for.

your answer to one of these questions reminded me that you're the reason why i sprayed my hair like everyday when i first started my locs. so sis! i'm 8 months and i went to my loctician last month for the first time since she started my locs (i've been taking care of my hair myself) and she said i was the most loc'd she ever seen someone in such a short time. so if you have starter locs spray them bad boys as much as you can.

@ 6:20 Asé sistarrrr!! Ragin, I am so proud of you as another sis in this life. You are a being of light and I appreciate how you aren't afraid of letting that light shine everywhere you go. Continue to elevate the importance of intentionally connecting with our ancestors. As we honor them, we honor ourselves. Because of them, we are!! There's so much wisdom, magic and healing that awaits us so long as we tap IN. Not only for us, but for the collective. I'm just grateful to be a part of the divine whole. 💐💛💐💐💛💛

🦄 I love all your videos. I have been binge watching all your loc videos and will be getting mine very soon. I thought about doing my own being that most locticians here in my area want you to make a consult appt then make another appointment to do the locs (that's 2 appts with 2 deposits) and they want too much money to me. I did find someone that was more reasonable for me to go to to get them started. I am seriously thinking of taking care of them myself afterwards following your tips.

Hi West Indie Ray! How long do you wait after a retwist before you rinse your hair? I've been loc'd for a month now, and I washed my hair about 3 or 4 times and while it helped my hair loc faster, my roots did not loc because they unraveled from the washing. I actually just did a retwist with two-strand twists as well and I'm afraid to take them loose or wash or rinse my hair I'm fear of my roots unraveling and marrying again.

Coming from a Christian background where we are taught that talking to and honoring the dead is evil or demonic and will invite demonic forces into our lives, we're you ever afraid of practicing African Ancestral Spirituality? Also, how and when did you get introduced to it? I'm asking because this has been my biggest challenge in me fully performing rituals and really talking to my ancestors on a regular. I have had my altar set up now for about 2 years and have yet to fully use it.
@livelifebehappy369
@livelifebehappy369 3 года назад
Hey hun. Christians too perform rituals..example drinking the blood of Christ and eating the body.. Christ is dead yet we still honor him..Christians also have alters at the church..the point I’m trying to make is it’s all about your intentions and we have to let go of the white washed propaganda that anything African or outside of Christianity is evil.
@WestIndieRay
@WestIndieRay 3 года назад
Hey! So I think everyone from that background has a bit of unlearning to do when it comes to what is good and what is “evil” if you are trying to go more towards a traditional approach. I was intimidated at first myself, but when I realized that the western world and religions practiced here through a western lens will always say our stuff and our people are demonic because they view Black people and Blackness as demonic in general. I always say it like this… a child isn’t born thinking they are ugly. The world tells them so until they convince themselves that it is true and until the voice putting them down becomes their own. And I can’t put my finger on how and when I started being intentional about Ancestor veneration specifically, but I wanna I built my altar about 3 years ago or so. It’s all about your intention as stated before me. Don’t do anything you aren’t comfortable with. You’re Their baby so They probably understand you better than you know. You’ll get there with time. I hope this helps!

@@WestIndieRay Yes, this was very helpful. Thank you so much for responding and breaking it down for me in that way. So while this is kind of personal, and I never used to feel any way about it when I was Christian. When or if someone asks you "what you believe in" or "what your religion is" or "what your religious beliefs are", what do you or would you say? I was asked by my daughter's hospital registrar one day if we were Christian, and I felt so uncomfortable with this question, like why does that even matter?

I went through the same thing I would say try not to get your roots wet for a while until you don’t mind if unraveling or do a style to make it last longer also you can invest in head wraps or when your retwist comes out wear your hair in curls
