Mark of a great teacher is to make something complicanted look so easy. Sure the pattern may not call for complicanted tying methods but managing all those materials is the hard part for most of us. I could watch you tie all day.
That fly is going to have a spot in my fly box. Sometimes watching you I keep thinking you're going to run out of room and tie over the eye of the hook, but you never cease to amaze me and turn out another supreme looking fly. I suppose it would be good to tie up some legs while watching sporting events on the t.v. while it's snowing. My wife is going to laugh seeing me take a 1.5 crochet hook making legs while watching hockey. Thank you again Davie!
@@markallenbell3868 Yes there is. It's very simple to do. You can do it with tweezers too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6S9FVDoRjwk.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LHUM8FBQPdk.html
Thanks Davie, we have had 45 days of no rain and hot days. The Brownies are just about to start their runs with a few jacks in the rivers. We have had a evening rise of lace moth willow grub flies late in the evening and I managed a nice rainbow on a early morning rise of a similar fly as you have tied (Parker’s dry fly pattern) except its smaller 12 & 16 and darker. It was the only fish caught all day! In this pool we had four fish follow us as we moved upstream, they were all feeding on whatever our feet disturbed in the fine gravel and pumice. Those same fish were there every day and could not be caught. Dark fish that must have been in the river for a long while, very interesting but frustrating.
I really enjoyed your tying on this fly. I now need to match the hatch for a down-under sedge and get a few tied up for my upcoming visit to the Motu River. Much appreciated.
Здравствуйте Davie McPhail. Отличная работа. Почаще выходите в эфир с новыми Нимфами, а то у нас скоро начнётся Весна и пойдёт рыбалка. С уважением Сергей Н.
Hi Philip, The main sizes that I use for caddis are 10s,12s and 14s in cinnamon and dark brown and grey size 12s.14s and 16s.. I'm glad yo liked the fly.. All the very best Davie
They just keep getting better. I love tying and fishing Caddis or Sedges. I noticed that you didn’t wax the thread as you tied this one. Are there flies you don’t wax the thread? Beautiful fly, nicely done. Thanks Davie!!
Hi Mark, No I should have if I am honest used the wax especially when tying the deer hair on and the wing as it will hold them far better...I do keep the thread really tight when I am tying so I can get away without it at times but I would encourage anyone to use wax...I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie..
Hi Davie I love your fly tying videos they have really improved my tying techniques. I am currently struggling to tie a Ness C salmon fly, I just can't seem to get the proportions correct, is there any chance you could demonstrate your variant please?
I just took delivery of my veniard premium fly tying kit, can't wait to catch something on my first fly... Is there any flies you would recommend for beginner hands? 🏴
Hi Tac 2, Stick to patterns that you know work on your local waters and the type of fishing you do..I started tying flies to suit my local river and the first patterns I tyed were dry flies and then onto wet and nymph patterns..I wish I had RU-vid when I first started as I would have had a field day as there's endless sources of flies and tyers that you could go to and watch and learn from..I wish you well and enjoy your new hobby.. All the very best Davie..
@@DavieMcPhail thanks very much for the reply and cheers for the advice. Once the season begins I will be out to try suss out what flies are best. RU-vid is great for a lot of things from fixing cars to tying flies. I've been making my way through your beginners videos so again thanks. All the best 🏴
Hi GBeat83, It is fished as a dry fly and can be fished static but is also very successful when twitched across the surface imitating the skittering motion of the natural fly...I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie
Hi jgzyla, I have filmed one way of making the knots on pheasant tail fibres but I have to be honest I do prefer to buy them..I have attached a link to the video.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LHUM8FBQPdk.html All the very best Davie..
