Thanks for the "heads up" about Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails, Jim. Brilliant varnish, what a difference it makes to buzzers. Cheers.

@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 those damn quills I did the whole tail and not 1 was good lol I wonder can you bleach strip a whole feather not from peacock and use the membrane it looks amazing white grey and brown in it
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
@@PinkBlondeBarbiexo I don't see why not ! If it looks the part give it a try . There are no rules in fly tying . Would be interested to see your results !

@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 it’s the membrane between the feathers it’s about as thick and flat as dental floss and coloured really well I will let you know 😃

@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 ok so I did a bunch of turkey feathers and the results are very good the bottom skinny part of the feather about 3 inches up with no feathers makes a great cool colour quil with some white and brown I also tore the feathers down there side and took the feathers off those and they look great also I could email some pics on my buzzers if you like

Nice fly. It’s worth remembering though that red light doesn’t penetrate more than about 10ft of water.
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 3 года назад
But how do the fish see it ?

@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 Red light is the first to be absorbed by water. I think the colour that penetrates deepest is blue/violet.

Nice one Tim really like that buzzer- do you prefer Sally Hansen to the resins?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 3 года назад
Definitely . All resins no matter the brand dry with a certain amount of tackiness . Hard as nails doesn't . Its also easier to regulate the bulk with the varnish as oppose to UV . I do use UV when im in a rush , usually when competing and needing to set batches of flies quickly .

I'm just started to discover buzzer fishing, this may sound like a daft question but can you use buzzers to catch in a river or are they just for still waters ?
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 3 года назад
These patterns are for still waters .. that said I bet they would work on some rivers ! .. There is no hard and fast rules in fly fishing but these patterns that I tie are specifically for small waters , reservoirs and lochs . Thanks for watching
