I now have an updated video on this • Updated! Types of Rail...
This video is aimed at my other viewers who may not know much about Aussie Railway Crossings, but watch this if you already know about Aussie Railway Crossings. I only use my own footage, so I have not covered all bells used but I have got a majority of them. Enjoy!

Safetran type 3 electronic bell is my least favorite. It gets stuck in my head after hearing it all day.

Yeah, that happens when that bell is on practically every single crossing around you.

Amazing! I didn’t expect a magnetic flagman to make it into this video but I suppose it counts because it’s still a bell

Victorian Rail Heritage Thanks! Yeah I think the gong on it pretty much counts as a bell.

That WCH Type 2 one at 1:16 is on Cross Road in Unley Park SA, just south of Adelaide, that and the other electronic bells have now almost taken over all of the crossings, started late 2000s and went on the Adelaide Metro lines starting with the Gawler line in 2012, I miss the old mechanical bells and only very few are left, in fact the only active crossing in SA still with the mechanical bells in the metropolitan area is Marion Road, Plympton
@redhen334
@redhen334 4 года назад
I quite miss the mechanical bells too, but unfortunately I never filmed a lot of the mechanical bells. I actually went past those ones at Plympton a few days ago, the dead one on the southern side has been fixed instead of being replaced, so it looks like they are here to stay :)

I really liked the westinghouse hybrid bell and the Mckenzie and holland tear drop bell. Sadly there's not many westinghouse hybrid bells left in Victoria. Most have been replaced with GS e-bells or replaced some WCH bells in NSW
@redhen334
@redhen334 5 лет назад
Yeah, Westinghouse Hybrids seem to be most numerous in Victoria but even they don’t have that much anymore.
