Actually this had a lot of nonsense and not very clear teaching. And sometimes just straight up teaching wrong, like spending far too much time showing people to have two paragraph spaces, when that's not what you want to do. That's just basic.

This is by far the clearest, easy-to-follow video for InDesign beginners who want to get their book files into an ebook. I wish I had access to a resource that was so specific, with the video paced slowly enough so I could see what was happening. I have been using InDesign since it came out, and have formatted and helped local authors publish their books for over 10 years, so I have learned a lot, especially about styles, but I know very little about publishing nice-looking flowable ebooks. Still, there were a few shortcuts here and there that I had missed along the way. I am mostly watching it for tips on making sure my book files are clean and ready for epub export, so there is a minimum of CSS coding needed. My only suggestion is that you learn the correct pronunciation of the word "preface" correctly. I had to smile every time you said it. So I looked it up, and it was unanimously pronounced: Preh"-fuhs.. Just thought you'd like to know. I am so very glad I finally found your video! Kudos!

Severely underrated video. I’ve been working with InDesign for over 15 years and I still learned a lot. This video also made me understand why some other workflows that are floating around RU-vid for this same process produce a lot of errors. I love the way you explain things. Thank you!

I don't think you're supposed to take away the styles until you already fix some things up. Like italics. If you take away the styles and then you add italics in Indesign, it won't know where to put them. You need to replace your document style italics with the Indesign italics by using find/replace before adding any kind of styles from Indesign or taking the previous styles away.

Hi Jason. Thanks for this amazing tutorial! I'm looking at my book in the KDP preview section and notice that my headings are not reflecting the style I used in InDesign (there is no space between the heading and paragraph, for example). Any idea what I could have done wrong?

Thank you for this! I've been following along slowly over some days and at 1:07 you added "Preface" to the Table of Contents. Did you mean to change that to "Table of Contents"? Thanks in advance and super appreciate this video. I like feeling like I'm in a class and prefer this when learning something so meticulous as opposed to insanely fast directions with a million cuts. So thank you for the pacing!

No, he just made it so the preface is also navigable within the ToC. That was not a title for the ToC, but another entry within it.

So slow, with so much be laboring of nothing.

Seriously. People think slow meandering automatically equals good teaching. There's a difference between going slow to make sure the information is understood, and just dragging, which just confuses the topic more.
