The TYR DropZero Laced has been a solid shoe; there's no other way to put it, and this is coming from someone who didn't love the strapped version.
In my opinion, the DropZero Laced model delivers a more well-rounded performance in the gym and for daily wear compared to the straps model, and I liken the laced version most to the Vivobarefoot Primus Lite Knit.
In my DropZero Laced review, I'll cover the key details you should know before buying this model.

10:04 Final Thoughts, Would I Buy Again?
I think if you're going to buy a barefoot shoe from TYR, then you should go with the laced option.
It's a good shoe, and it costs a little less than some of its premium peers, which have similar knit constructions.
I also find that this model gives me fewer issues at the toe break - now, that may not be the case for everyone, but I think it will be far less than the strapped version and some of this shoe's competitors.

@@thatfitfriendI wore these shoes without socks for a week hiking in Colombia, doing so ruined the inserts on one shoe, the top layer pealed away. Probably from how my foot moves in the shoe though.

They could work! The Inov8 Bare XF, Motus Strength, and Tolos Arch 2.0 can also be solid choices

materials and construction of this shoe don't justify it's pricepoint. again, companies taking advantage of the barefoot shoe hype. It does look like a comfortable shoe that can perform pretty well.

I'll let Jake address that question but you can find models for as low as $100 that he's previously reviewed. I haven't tried it yet but the Notorius Lift Radix looks like a solid shoe, imo.

A few options for $90-110ish. These are shoes I regularly train in and rock casually. Tolos Arch 2.0, 1HUND Aerolux, Notorious Lift Radix, and Xero Shoes Prio Neo.

I think it would actually take using these shoes for awhile to see how well the materials hold up and keep performing. I’ve used TYR tech suits for swimming meets, the company definitely has a solid reputation there. I’ve had the shoes for a month now and have used them for 200 sprints, lifting, hiking through mountains and jungle (literally), if they last until winter (in 8 months) then they are worth it

Hey Jake! I just recently got a pair of primus lite 3’s and now I’m all in on barefoot shoes. I love how they feel but my only issue with them is that for work doing valet and running on concrete for a full shift, I feel like I could use a bit more cushion. Not like Hokas but just more than the primus. What shoes would you reccomend? They preferably have to come in an all black color, but feels like most shoes do. Thank you? Love the reviews.

Look into the Icarus Ascent Gen 2. They come with diff insoles with varied thicknesses and they look solid for work contexts. Think you'll love em! I have reviews on them. Outside of those, WHITIN can be solid and so can Lems models!

How would you compare them to the Notorious Lift Radix? I know you reviewed them recently as well but id like to hear your thoughts as far as a comparison goes. I'm predominantly powerlifting but I also wear my gym shoes everywhere else.
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 2 месяца назад
Radix has a heavier upper construction and if you pull sumo - they'll likely be a better bet since spillover can happen in knit models. Both are great, though, so if you're 50/50 and a conv puller - idt you can wrong with either.

Wore these shoes for a week hiking in the mountains of South America. First time in decades my feet didn’t ache and sting after a long hike. Though this activity is not quite what the shoe is marketed for, it performed outstanding for me. However on slippery surfaces there is lower threshold of traction than standard hiking boots.
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend Месяц назад
Heck yeah, love hearing that. Yeah, you're going to sacrifice some grip there due to the lack of more aggressive lugs often used in trail shoes.

Hey Jake. Any idea about Nike inseason tr 13? On a budget and a beginner in the gym. Have a little wide and flat foot, thoughts on this one?
@thatfitfriend
@thatfitfriend 3 месяца назад
Looks a smidge narrow, honestly. I'd say go Mizuno TS-01 or UA PR BSR 4 if you want something strong for around $100! Nanoflex V2 may be even less and also solid!

Honestly, i don't think you need to spend much on a barefoot shoe, there is not much to get wrong on a flat sole light shoe, I bought kivors on amazon for under 50cad, I love them for lifting and they are great for walking on flat surfaces, So far i just had 2 instance where i didn't like them, Walking on rough surfaces, like over roots in trails you can feel every imperfections and not being used to it it can hurt I also didn't liked them for a farmer carry, going slow its fine, but as a strongman competitor, i need to go fast and i felt it to much in the hips and knees to my tast, i still prefer my reebok nano for those kind of mooving events

Motus. Better upper rigidity for abrasion resistance! These are good, but I like a little more structure for most WODs where rub can happen

@@thatfitfriend Thanks. And do you think the motus have a better (thicker feel) sole than the Primus lite knit, I find the primus lite knit are too thin on the sole and have too much flex, floor feel and the the side crease and rub my feet below my toe…

Should be fine! Keep in mind with most knit models though there can be a threshold of lockdown capabilities when doing stuff like wicked heavy sled work. I always tend to learn towards other models for those specific contexts. If you're just doing sled work for conditioning and not going crazy, you're prob fine!
