Im glad they give Sansa respect, ive heard so many people trash talk her during this series. Shes in a very tough position throughout the show, and she does her best to make it through. She was very naive in season 1 but, she arguably has the most horrific story of the series.
Barriston Selmy was in one of the earlier episodes. He ripped off his cloak in the Throne Room after Cersei said he was too old for the Kingsguard after Robert Baratheon died because she wanted to have Kingsguard men that were loyal to them. I believe he had some conversation with Ned Stark in Season 1 about Joffreys lineage.
Ned and Barristan never discuss Joffrey's bastardy. If I recall correctly, in the book, Ned considers going to Barristan with what he's learned but decides that Barristan would be too rigid about his sense of duty to act on the information.
@@G3ForMe They don't talk about Joffrey's lineage in the show either. They talk about Sir Hugh of the Vale getting killed during the jousting tourney right after Ned was trying to question him about Jon Arryn's death.
@@G3ForMe Thank you, I understood that. The first part of my post pertains to the show. The part about how it plays out in the book is just additional context.
The Half Hand knew the Wildlings would torture him to death. Jon is trying to do exactly what the Half Hand wanted him to do…infiltrate the wildling camp and kill Mance
"Even now... I could cut through the five of you like carving a cake!" Barristan Selmy was the leader of the Kingsguard that Joffrey fired. The castle Robb is taking is Herrenhal... where Tywin and Arya were. After Arya escaped, Tywin took his forces south to face Stannis and abandoned the castle, ordering the Mountain to kill all the prisoners before he they left.
Ja Morant's anxious because Barristan Selmy may know that Ja was spying on Danaerys for King Robert. He's got every right to be nervous lol They went to Harrenhal, that's where Tywin was and where Arya and co. were prisoners. Tywin and the Mountain left to go fight Stannis so they put the castle and prisoners to the torch when they left. If Arya, Gendry and Hot Pie hadn't escaped they would've been killed too.
21:05Of course this is NOT Winterfell! After all, Robb is at war with the Lannisters in the south and Winterfell is in the very center of the North. The return of Robb's army to Winterfell is currently a huge logistical challenge (almost a month of riding). The castle they are in here is Harrenhall, the same one where the Lannisters were previously stationed, where the Mountain and his men tortured prisoners and where Arya served Tywin. It is a huge castle in the southern Riverlands. Harrenhall is closer to King's Landing than to Winterfell.
So a lot of ppl miss this but when Quorin Halfhand and John were prisoners together for the first time and John found out the rest the men died looking for him, Quorin had told him “see that it wasn’t for nothing”, and when they were traveling towards the wildling camp later on down the line they were talking and they were discussing how they’re gonna get out of it and Quorin was talking about earning their trust or basically they’re dead, and John was basically like not possible, and the Quorin said “you can, if you do what needs to be done” and then made that big fake scene about now he left his men to go adventure with some wildling girl and called him a bastard and pushed him down that hill, at which point Ygritte looks amazing him like hmm, and then later they have that fake fight and John kill’s him (Quorin purposely allows his own sacrifice) to earn their trust, cus Quorin was a big enemy of Mance and the wildlings. So what I’m saying is, John has not betrayed the Night’s Watch or his family. He’s staying alive. Don’t worry this isn’t a spoiler; a lot of ppl just miss the dialogue in those little interactions w them, so I’m just clarifying. Love watching yall as always ❤😎
Oh I can’t wait for your reaction to this season…… that side eye killed me…. I love your devotion to Sansa! Marjorie knows just how to play this game & watching these manipulations between her Joffrey & Cersai are just intriguing. Oh boy this is going to be good
Imagine your father doing you like that, would be devastating tryion did best by just walking away. Actually he should walk away from his family PERIOD
Also...Qyburn was found by Robb and his army at Harrenhall. Tywin and his army went to King's Landing. The northern men who attempted to take Harrenhall were slaughtered by those who remained to hold the castle.
The South Park Game of Thrones parody episodes called "Black Friday Trilogy" are some of their best in my opinion. It originally aired, I believe, between seasons 3 and 4, so when you're done with this season you should definitely watch it on the other channel. There's a lot of jokes you wouldn't have recognized if you had already seen it.
You guys might not remember Barristan Selmy, they only showed him a few brief times. When Joffrey became king he relieved him of his duties because of his age and Barristan took off his armor and threw down his sword and told him to melt it down and add it to the others.
Robb is far away from Winterfell. He is marching south with his army trying to fight the Lannisters but they keep retreating and most went back to Kings Landing to fight Stannis. He was at Harrenhal where Arya was imprisoned at before escaping.
Respect to Tyrion for being a civilian who just straight up took over and made himself commander at Blackwater, then held off one of the best generals in Westeros.
Okay, so, Robb is in Harrenhal (where Arya was) not Winterfell, remember that they are still traveling south looking to defeat the Lannisters. Margery, remember that she knows very well how to play the game, everything she does and says has a purpose, it is also unfair to compare her with Sansa when she is still a child and was never very involved in the management of her own house, and currently she is prisoner, very different situations. Also, remember Jon is following the plan he started when he killed Half Hand, he needed the trust of the wildlings to be able to infiltrate, not only survive, but gather information, which is something that the night's watch has not been able to achieve.
So glad you're still on board with this show and have made it to Jon's stint with the Wildlings. I am a huge fan of Ciarán Hinds who plays Mance Raider, the King Beyond the Wall. He has a long resume and my favorite parts include: Captain Wentworth (Persuasion), Mr. Rochester (Jane Eyre), and Julius Caesar (Rome). I hope you enjoy him in GoT and a few of these other productions.
Well, in the books Tyrion does lose half of his nose in this incident. That would just be some crazy makeup/CGI work to bring to the big screen so, they just went with the scar in the show.
Tap in as hard as you can for this season, you can only watch it once and its one if the best seasons of any TV, no matter how tapped in you think are you're not enough. I can't wait to see how what you think of this seasom
I don't think Tywin is a psychopath. He doesn't really have the traits. He's cunning and does whatever he thinks he needs to do to maintain power. I would say that he's machiavellian.
Pay attention to subtitles vs what is actually said. Funniest use of subtitles I have seen at Astapor army shopping trip. (Also known as the "red city" and is a stopping point for ships bound from Qarth. (It is outside scope of this game/book/TV series to venture east of Qarth to Westeros. Only west bound journeys are possible.)
Like Cersei, Margaery Tyrell knows how to play The Game and has one advantage over Cersei when it comes to gaining Joffrey's aid (unless Cersei wants to add yet another family member to her bed). Robb is continuing south to try and defeat the Lannisters and kill Joffrey. he was at Harrenhal, where Tywin was until he left to defend King landing against Stannis. Littlefinger is, was, and always will be a snake concerned only with what will gain him power and wealth. Jon Snow has not really abandoned the Nights Watch. Remember, Halfdan talked of him infiltrating the wildings, then provoked the fight to make it easier for Jon to accomplish this. Haldan knew he was dead anyway. Remember that he said he was still a watcher on the wall after Jon had stabbed him.
Dangggg ya ain’t tapped in for real! Guy that saved Dany is Barriston Selmy. He was fired by Cersei in the throne room when Joffrey first came on the throne towards the end of season 1 I believe
So Little Finger did not see Arya. He didn't know that she was in Tywin's possession even though they were in the same room. He's just lying to Sansa again.
The subtitles say the unsullied "begin their training at 5:00 and drill from dawn to dusk" but I'm pretty sure she meant training begins at 5 years old based on context. Surely 5:00 and dawn are not the same time everyday, and she called them boys when she talked about the survival rate. That detail dramatically worsens the audience's view of the slave masters.
Weirdly, in defense of Tywin (yes he is an azzhole, but everyone in GoT is shades of grey...even the best people have flaws and the worst people have redeeming qualities or at least a story which makes them a bit more relatable -- except Joffery who is horrid to the bone marrow. 😂). --- Tywin's father wasted all the family money, bankrupted the Lannisters, was a whoremonger and a drunk. Tywin's worked his entire life to build back the family fortune and reputation. So he has a particular sore spot about people who waste money, get drunk all the time, and whoremonger. While Tyrion, at this point in the story is in his mid-thirties and has recently stepped up, he spent his life up until now drinking, whoremongering, and wasting money. Arguably, even if Tyrion was not a dwarf, he and Tywin would probably have a strained relationship anyway. Not so much because Tyrion has vices (Tywin is pretty realistic about people having vices) but because Tyrion is known for flaunting his degenerate behavior and Tywin is hyper aware of the optics because Tywin's father disgraced and financially almost ruined the family while Tywin was growing up. --- As we know, Tywin's late wife (Tyrions mom) died giving birth to Tyrion. Tywin never remarried despite the fact that he would have been relatively young when she died (since Tyrion is in his 30s). It's quite unusual that a widowed powerful man in Tywin's position wouldn't remarry and try to produce more legitimate heirs (especially as young as he was when she died). The situation was horrific and painful for Tywin and he still carries it with him. Again, not saying he should blame Tyrion, but it's context. --- This is the sticky bit: Tywin had good reason to believe his wife was cheating on him when she got pregnant with Tyrion. There's some evidence that Tyrion may not be his son. Tywin knew this before Tyrion was born. So when Tyrion was born a dwarf AND his mother died from birthing him, Tywin likely felt that the entire tragedy was linked to the infidelity. People were superstitious back then. Still, Tywin claimed Tyrion as his son and a true Lannister. But I'm sure inside Tywin has doubts and the horrible, ugly situation festers in his mind. Again, not saying Tywin isn't a jerk cuz he definitely is! But it's more interesting when you think of the context. Great reaction as always!! You guys are TOP TIER.
Tywin massacred two houses because they refused to pay their bills. Whenever Cersei says something particularly unhinged or misogynistic, it's often in line with Tywin's more extreme beliefs.
Tyrion can not just run away unless he is prepared to live in Squalor or have to work at things like entertainment for very poor money. An uncertain future for both himself and Shae. Even with the wealth he has now, it will only last a certain amount of time before it runs out, especially if he must hire protection for them. The only reason he is working and has rights in this society is his family name. He loses that if he leaves and just becomes a dwarf.
Cersei coming out of Tyrion's room with Bronn & her guards outside. You mentioned how she just walked right by them. That was most likely because Lena (Cersei)& Jerome (Bronn) used to date and she supposedly did not want any scenes with him. I am pretty sure that may have been part of her looking straight forward & marching past him😮
Brother Hobbs, did you mute my comments on YeahHobbs? Love you guys and I didn’t step out of line, so not sure why? Staying subbed anyway cause you two are really entertaining. Continued success, neighbors!
