One of the main reasons that Mavs won the championship in 2011. His defense, tenacity and toughness solidified that front court. He's the unsung hero and a very underrated player.
Tyson Chandler had a sneaky good career. A ring at the NBA, a gold medal, a FIBA world cup, a defensive player of the year, stayed in the league for just under two decades and people remember him for his Hornets and Mavs days quite vividly. That's a top non-star career. Beats the careers of many all-stars.
Got so much love for Tyson Chandler. As a Laker fan, we got him at the very end but was happy to have his presence on that young Laker team. He was the prototype for what teams looked for at the Center position.
I wasn’t following Chandler until he got in Dallas that one year, and oh my goodness. He’s such a great defensive presence. I’ll stay and watch him play whenever he’s on the screen afterwards. Especially during Linsanity, I was just jumping for joy watching them two on the court. I always felt if Lin stayed in NYK it would have been so much better off for him. Houston got Harden, Lin story just dropped off.
Did they even mention Linsanity in the interview above? Seems like something that got glossed over. Tyson was integral to that story, so I wonder if Tyson even cares about that, especially when Jeremy was on this podcast before.
I got Tyson Chandler n Eddie curry autograph as a middle schooler in May of 2005. They was playin the Wizards in the playoffs.. and I met them at champs in the mall in DC.. on a field trip from Ohio. Life lit lol
So excited this happened; love dude as a player. I’m from Louisiana, so him & CP to me hit different 😮💨 Melo being my favorite player, so him & the Knickstape >
Super Crip was shot twice in the back with an AK47. Then, he played against Santa Margarita the next night & dropped 27 points with 15 rebounds! True story.
This was THE INTERVIEW for me right here. This is my era right here. We graduated the same year. I watched him put my high school team (Inglewood High) out of the playoffs at Dominguez. We all heard about the nigga super crip when we were in school. Never knew his real name. Just knew a nigga played for Compton High named super crip. We was banging on the football field and basketball court at Inglewood. And E-40's In A Major Way is my and a whole lot of other 40 year old California people favorite album🤟🏿🤟🏿🤟🏿🤟🏿
I grew up in the same area as Tyson I still never forget the first time I ever saw him walk in the gym at 13 he was the same height then as he is now 7 ft just a whole lot skinnier surreal sight.
Glad y’all brought back the raw content, hearing Matt say “fuck that nigga” was so refreshing😂 I’m glad y’all figured out why the views went down for a bit. Keep it up , this is why we all fell in love w all the smoke.
gosh stephen jackson annoying as hell . not letting folks come out of high school is not them tryna hold black folks back . stop the madness . he act like they blocking our ppl from getting into the league period
Crazy to see how much he game has changed since Tyson was in his prime to now. Who knows what kind of role he would have in todays NBA where bigs like him often become an afterthought. Sad to see Big Men like tyson become less and less
1:01:35 that part, i look at some teams with a lot of new players and wonder why their roster doesn’t have any older guys or guys that are at least out of their rookie contract. leadership is always key, especially in sports.
That Olympic team needed a Chandler like this Team USA "needs" an Andre Drummond...It is weird the politics of those opportunities...especially how he is played off still in his prime...when they get minutes they man the paint and rebound at a high rate...You have to be foreign to be respected for hustle in the NBA now...
Bad ass interview from start to finish I love Tyson one of my favorite players of all time I hope takes the next step and becomes a assistant coach for the Mavs
I swear to god I said good kid mad city then he said it. I’ve watch every all the smoke episode ever. They ask the album no skip ⏭ question every episode, but I never ask my self until today. Definitely G.K.M.C
I went to middle school with Tyson in Berdo. In the 7th grade he was 6’9 and looked like a grown man. He went to LA for basketball because it was clear he was headed to the NBA.
Interesting what Chandler said. Everyone had been paid and was looking to win, not into stats or minutes. More important was winning and making the right plays.
They came to my city in high school for a tournament him a Tayshawn Prince were on the same team. Tim Thomas was prolly the best high school player ever
