In this tutorial I go over how to use Epoxy Putty in a very simple example. Hope this helps ! CHECK OUT MY SOCIAL MEDIA ! INSTAGRAM: / tonezone117 FACEBOOK: / izaac.ryan.5
Fantastic thanks so much for your help! I bought an old garage kit to practice on from the 90's so i dont ruin the more expensive kit i bought with it being my first try 😅 there is a large skirt but about a 1cm gap it doesn't line up properly. I thought the magical object known as epoxy putty could fix it but i didnt even know what putty was before this video so thanks so so much
Tonezone, when you said about standard of Epoxy Putty, do you mean the blue one (the Smooth Surface)? If so have you tried to harden it by baking it or put it in a boiling water?
When I was building my Crossbones I felt proud of myself. "Yeah, my first MG. It's so good." And it was. It was fully built, and painted well even with a hand brush (flex flex). But a month later I decided I was gonna equip the lance for once, and that's when I noticed that there was a little tab at the top of the handle. "Oh no" I thought. "I'm missing a piece" so I looked through my bag of holding to look for the bits, (because I keep extra bits for gaslands) and sure enough, I had ONE of the parts for the scope. *ONE*. I was frantically searching for the other bit but no avail. I mean thankfully, the missing part was just a simple accent so now I have to model the missing piece using putty. *WISH ME LUCK*
Could i use this for like my hg barbato long sword? Like after the anime introduce the long sword they upgrade the handle part. Which bandai hasn't made a part for it. I mean they kinda made a whole new sword however it's hasn't been reprinted due ti the kit the sword is with is pretty huge kit. Thought bandai would might include it when gundam build breaker battlelog when Barbataurus exist and also have that sword upgrade. But it never came
Newb here with a few questions about epoxy putty: Could this be used to replicate broken parts? How tough is this when fully cured? Is epoxy putty more like solid clay, in that it is very hard and breaks easily? Is epoxy putty as solid and flexible as styrene plastic?
Optronixatron I would recommend you use resin or silicone to replicate pieces. It’s relatively tough when cute tho it will crack when given a good whack of pressure. So just treat it with caution, play around with some putty and get a feel for it yourself. And no once it’s cured the putty is not flexible at all. However you can shape it all you want while it’s active (when you first mix both parts)
This helped me out alot . As soon as I heard the opening I was like "this is exactly what I'm looking for " 😂 I need to try epoxy putty to fix action figures and neck parts. Now I just need to know if mr.color or tamaya color is the best for painting pvc material . And even and plastic or resin . But the dolls I'm working on are PVC
Is there any way to keep the putty from sticking permanently to the plastic? Like if you wanted to use it to sculpt a piece of armor for a figure, but you wanted it to be removable. Maybe coat the figure with something, sculpt the putty over the figure, let it harden, then be able to remove it intact without damaging the figure underneath? I know professionals would probably sculpt the part out of something else, remove it from the figure, create a mold of the sculpted part and then cast it in the final material, but I was looking for an easier and cheaper way to do the same thing. I've read that epoxy putty dries hard and strong so it would be perfect for creating small pieces, but how can you keep it from permanently sticking to the object underneath? I know that oil would probably keep it from sticking, but then that would make it hard to work on, if the putty didn't stick at all while you were working on it.
lurkerrekrul yeah I wouldn’t know anything about molding and removing. Putty like this is mainly used for just filling up and extending stuff. The best way that I know of for you is to make a cast and mold for your armor
Hey - great tutorial. Question: How hard does the putty get ? As hard or better than the original plastic part you extended ? Can it be drilled and screw mounted to a chassis - for example ? Many thanks - Andy in MIami.
Does anyone know what paint I can use for flesh color pvc? Is tamaya or mr. Color the best ? I need it for ("Picco Neemo". Or "Assault Lily" white skin)
Can you add epoxy putty to dried epoxy putty parts? I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions, I love this channel and just found it . I've been interested in this hobby since I was younger and I thought it was about time I fix my broken action figure parts XD
Yes you can use epoxy putty when fixing the gaps between parts. However, you have to be careful whether it is fixed posed or is their a ball joint. If their is a ball joint you may have to trim some of the execess so the piece can still move. As for the paints for figures I have not bought any yet as building my fixed posed Lady Unexpected for Gundam W. I am still on the research stage for the paints. When searching online I have seen anime paints sets for painting figures which their are a few shades provided. I can't remember the brand off the top of my head. When I was at my local art store they had wide range of colour tones that you can use for anything. It really depends on your tastes what paint you use.
You don’t want to leave them in sunlight. I keep them in that plastic they come wrapped in, inside the box or a closed container in a cooler area. Make sure you keep the two types of materials separate though.
