Kallstrom Sweet Corn bought a 2005 GMC C5500 and we are adding 2 ft onto ours . To make our frames 17 ft long , We make what we call Corn Mobiles to sell our sweet corn .
Duncan did I understand you correctly? You ended up with 15' behind the cab of useable frame? Anything special to know about removing the section of drive shaft?
There are 4 driveshaft sections. First piece is attached to the transmission, and that remains. Second piece needs to be removed from the truck.. Then just move the third & forth sections forward, along with the rear axle assembly. I will make it a point to go over this in the next truck's video.
Sorry boss, I took all the scrap to the recyclers. I'm only doing this project so that the last truck will be mine for free. Hell I'm hoping to even make a little money for my time. The materials are outrageous.

don't get stopped by the DOT because the title has to be sent in and changed and you have to be certified to do frame work on trucks. I had a guy ask me to do some frame work on a truck and I looked into it and turned it down, he got someone else to do it and a month lates it got inspected and since it wasn't done the legal way he scraped the truck and if you do anything like this for someone and something happens and say it kills someone you are as responsible as the owner of the truck so for advice you really need to think about what you do before you do it
I have the trucks inspected by triple tee. We have a 9 different commercial truck facilities here that inspect heavy trucks and they also do these modifications. Back in the mid 90's I had to learn the hard way about frame mods. I had an old 1970 12 ft dump that I turned into a 16ft dump. The lesson was, making a truck longer is not worth restructuring and I did not know this at the time. I made the truck longer without taking into consideration that it needed to have a considerable amount of re-enforcement added. Needless to say, it failed inspection miserably, but the guys were very supportive of my efforts and educated me on the does & don'ts. Since then, I pretty much stick to shortening only. It is much easier to do this, as opposed to lengthening one. As you are most likely aware, longer frames are more heavily built that short frames. Therefore shortening a long frame allows me to have the truck rated for a higher capacity upon inspection. I really appreciate your comment and welcome everyone to join in.
