One of the best memories my family and I have is picking fresh strawberries when we lived in Georgia! Those strawberries were the best tasting and we would love to do that again!

yes, beautiful and they have this flag system to represent the plants that have been recently picked..you are supposed to move the flag down after you have picked that section of the row.

Mid- Mid-Michigan here. The strawberry farm by me was only open for 1 week because the weather was so bad this year.

I believe the fact that this farm had seven varieties...they had early and late ones so were able to stay open longer.

I didn’t get to pick my own this season because any time I had available to go it was storming. But I did go and get 10 pounds of pre-picked. We love strawberries so much, the added cost was still worth it ❤ 🍓

I grow ozark strawberries in pots, not hard to grow at all!! I get a big handful everyday from 6 pots. My blueberries and black berries, also in big pots, are now ripe! Very easy and organic! South Carolina USA

@JustCookIt813 pretty big pots I got from Costco for my blueberries and blackberries. You need to fill them with organic soil with compost and add hollytone acidifier because they need it. They also need two different types of bushes from in the same pot or right next to each other. Use lots of pine needles for mulching them. There are a lot of good utube videos on this. Strawberries are easier, and ozark ones produce big sweet berries all summer long. I am just an older woman wanting to grow a bit of organic food, which is so expensive! You can do it! Look on the utube of lots of help.

Strawberries took over my flower bed as I had cleaned strawberries for dessert poured the too ripe and stems in my flower bed I put all my veggie scraps there all that compost, plants love, 1 plant came up from the compost this is third year and there is about 30 plants now, a bunny and birds have feasted as have Ken and a little 4 year old girl and they enjoyed lots of raspberries from our 15 plants all organic, if they keep them picked for fresh eating I don't have to make jam. I am allergic to strawberries its ok I don't care for them very much.

I went picking with my son and his family. It was more about going to do something with my precious granddaughter then getting strawberries. But I did get 10 1/2 pounds (I took a 2 gallon bucket- go big or go home 😂), and made 20 half pints of jam and have enough in the freezer for a pie or shortcake. I thought it was pricey- $2.99 per pound. But, what isn't pricey these days?
@HerHomesteadSkills
@HerHomesteadSkills 3 месяца назад
true, mine were pricey too...but well worth being able to pick and choose...so many of the packaged ones we get here are either not ripe or going bad amongst some good ones.

Oh how cool! The only pick-your-own fields around here are an Italian-owned tomato farm. I guess we're too rural to attract enough people to be profitable. There is a wholesale Amish market about an hour's drive away where you can purchase in bulk - like 50 lbs at a time, but IDK of any pick your own areas. Oh - except for a pumpkin farm in the Fall. Our county produces about 30 million bushels of corn and soybeans annually, so the focus is on those crops. Those strawberries looked gorgeous!
@HerHomesteadSkills

yes, It's not cheap, I paid $30 for 8 ltrs (lbs)...But they were so worth it!
