The M65 style jacket started to be developed around the Vietnam War era. It is a jacket designed for multiple weather conditions for combat soldiers. #outdoorlife #wildernesslife #camouflage
I bought one a couple months ago, it was almost brand new (it has the soldiers name) in size large regular, but it also has the 1st Infantry Division patch and it came with the liner too
As sizing is always an issue with the M65: I am 183 cm, 77 kg (6 ft, 170 lbs) and own two old M65 of the 70s. One in M regular which is very roomy and is used for winter with a pullover and lining. Perfect. And one in S regular without lining which is perfect with a shirt or a thinner pullover for not-so-cold-weather. Great jacket and thank you that you left so many behind here in Germany.
Love my field jackets! One of the best pieces of military clothing ever made, I have two od green ones and a woodland , very tough jacket. To bad the military declassified the field jacket
You could get another one from the 90s or early 2000s in woodland to wear more often if you don't want anything bad to happen to this one. I have one in three color desert camo from 1989, m81 woodland from 1991, and three OG-107/OD green m65s. I have one from 1979 and two from 1987. One of which looks like it was never used. I understand your concern it's the pride and joy of my jackets. The other one from 1987 has sharpie on the back so I'm not as concerned about that one. The ones from the mid to late 80s in OG-107 are rare and they have nylon ykk zippers not the metal ones. The video was nice.
Is there a way to determine age of coat by tag? I just found one at a local antique store for $20 in very good condition. Absolutely love it. Mine has a metal YKK zipper with plastic/nylon zipper treads
Yes you have to look if the tag has a DSA, DLA, SPO, or SPM number followed by 100- the year number. A number such as DLA-100-87-C-0591 means the jacket was made in 1987.
I have the darker woodland m65 … perfect 😜✌️🍀🔥 … I am from Austria 🇦🇹… only in winter I have under the m65 a helikontex double fleece patriot and over the m65 a raincoat jacket .. because trough the m65 jacket blows a little bit the colder wind 🥶🥶🥶😂✌️🍀🔥 but in 3 seasons I can carry it normal … I love this thing … 🔥🔥🔥✌️😜✌️🍀🍀🍀 … be prepared always for everything everytime everywhere… god with us all friends… ✌️😁✌️🍀🔥
@@NorthwestScout also helicontex in woodland… my wife says … if I buy only one more military thing … I can go … 😂😂😂🔥🔥🔥✌️😂✌️😂✌️🍀🍀🍀🍀 … inch bag and hot tent and woodstove and survival kit ready for SHTF… 😂✌️🔥🍀
The basic garment pattern goes back to WWII, and went through several improvements in materials, fasteners, features etc. In mild conditions, it is quite comfortable even without the liner--which many soldiers say is the best feature! It is a very warm, amazingly lightweight garment that can be worn by itself indoors. ALSO, there is a separate cold weather hood with fur edging for really cold conditions. LASTLY, there was also an M65 cold weather trouser w/liner made to accompany this jacket.
Thanks for the very cool information. It’s very fascinating how some of these coats have evolved through time. I rarely wear it because it’s such an awesome collectors piece for me. Thanks so much!
@@NorthwestScout These jackets (coats? parkas? smocks?) are very popular down here in the States, though not as 'cool' as Gore-Tex and other modern garments. While heavy, they make great work coats.
I think this size is Large Long and under an eBay description it will usually have for chest size and height. www.ebay.ca/itm/195527478829?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=AuRXU-hYRLm&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=L5GvpWwsTeu&var=495400687203&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
