Damn I must have missed something at boot camp, I don't remember Sergeants playing guitars and singing to us. Oh the Drill Sergeants sang to us alright, but not like that. (get down and knock out 25 LOL)

...yep, 1980, don't recall the DI's playing guitars and singing, remember they did yell a lot....don't remember them being that nice during inspections either, you speak out of turn, you'd be on the ground doing push ups and your wall locker contents would be thrown out the window, lol....if you were lucky....

Oh, those long-haired basic trainees! Obviously dodged the head shaving part of basic everyone else had to go through. Must have been Hippy Company. And all that lounging around on their bunks. Must have been a kinder, gentler military. Did the DIs give them messages before they tucked the gentlemen into bed?

Weekend passes? Shoulder patches? Class b uniforms for regular wear? Man Army basic training was different compared to now.

I was at Ft Knox basic in 58

I enlisted in the Navy. We were not allowed to lay on our racks in our uniform.

Gosh, this is what our current president missed out on having graduated from high school in 1961 and by golly his opponent missed out on the Basic training for the new army. Ahh, those were the days, real chipped beef on toast, not the discount hamburger in cream on toast. Well back to harassing the neighbor kids by slamming the metal garbage can lid on the garbage can, damn, they are hard to find these days, and the handles are not as well made.
