This was the best day in boot camp. There was one recruit who was deathly afraid of heights. He had a hard time going over the side. The DI belayed him half way down to get him to conquer his fear. When I went thru MCRD San Diego, they had a tower with a wooden side. The DI stopped him mid way down and knocked him against the wall a few times using the rope, talking shit the whole time. I felt bad for the guy, but he got thru it and graduated with our class. That also motivated the rest of us to not show any fear of heights! Damn if that DI was going to do that to me! haha Good times

You sound like the type of Marine who'll get all the meritorious promotions. At least, that's the way it was, when I was enlisted. The ones who couldn't do well on the PFT, couldn't do much else exceptional, except kiss butt, they seemed to always get out of doing the things that the rest had to do. So, how do you think this prepared you for REAL active duty? When you're in rough circumstances, and, your fellow Marines have to depend on you?

What is this weak shyt? They could damn near jump down from that one-story distance! When did they stop rappeling from up higher? When I went throughMCRD San Diego, there weren't stairs up the tower...you climbed a rope netting-type contraption up, and then, you rappelled down. We did have one guy who didn't follow instructions, and, things didn't end well for him...kinda went splat. Teaches you to pay attention, it's NOT a game!
