U.S. Marines with Combat Logistics Regiment-17, 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade and U.S. Navy sailors with Naval Beach Group-1, Expeditionary Strike Group-3, conduct Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) training and offload containers from the USNS 1st Lt. Operated the 50k caterpillar rough Terrain container handlers 1982 changed our Logistics from break bulk to container. Our company size doubled, two shore platoons, two ship platoons. Unfortunately got too short to stay there. Assign me to a 50k. After being assigned to two each American hoist and Derrick 20 ton rough terrain cranes. Good Times

I am the operator of this type of machine in a civilian company in Poland, only the military are a little smaller mine weighs 80 tons. I would like to work in the army for such a machine. but it is fun.

Easy to load and off load with this machine. Containers to me by watching the video looked close to empty. He is backing off the ship with the container high in the air! that is a bad way to do it and not very safe. He is caring the container even high on the beach also unsafe. If the container was heavy and he hit a soft spot the machine could upset. But I guess it is the marines putting on a show.
