Excuse me! 4 boys , they had more political acumen than your little finger .You only have to listen to thier first album BOY which fortunately I could being the youngest of four kids . They struggled Bonos Mum drove them to gigs way back when . It was 1980 I was in junior school when Boy came out the rawness the visceral energy amazing
Sometimes I wish I had been born 20 years earlier just so that I could have experienced these amazing things. Perhaps it's just me but the music I hear today doesn't sound anywhere near as good as this. Even the U2 I see today is not the same at all...well they are a lot older so I guess that's why.
@@michael-cc9dc - I agree! Even though it had taken me a while to get into it, in the end I was glad they WERE able to create one more great album after all that 'Rattle And Hum' BS :-)
Luvd the way The edge held court in this performance...F.Awesome and Total Respect. Why has Bono sold out, he used to be so fearless..like WTF is he gonna do or say next.....we love u Danny Boyle.
No hay palabras exactas para describir esta música, muy buen tema y melodía que traspasan mis venas y oídos, estos cantante brillan por su autenticidad y originalidad simplemente son únicos alguien mas que piensa igual que yo :) 15 7 10 / 2021
You trying singing the same song 10000 times and keep it fresh. Stay skinny, stay young we all love our rock stars young but life is not like that and always come up with something radical to say for four decades. Thats one of the hurtful things u2 would hate to here said but by now ita old to them and they are moving on.
Yeah, they became older musicians. But thank god they kept making music or we'd never have gotten epic songs like One, Beautiful Day, Mysterious Ways, Until the End of the World, Vertigo, Ultraviolet, TLTTGYA, Magnificent, the *entire* legendary Joshua Tree album, and so much more.
I agree the eighties were great time for rock'nroll and I agree U2 were already huge in the eighties, but it's great they changed ant they are still changing. Without it there would be no "One", no "Stay", no "Fly" no "Bullet the Blue Sky", no "Please", no "Electrical Storm", no "Kite" (IMO one of their greatest songs), no "Original ot the Specioes", no "Breathe". The form is different, but the spirit is the same, and that's what's important and what's true.
Gosh I remember seeing this band for the first time...freakin awesome..! Good times!!! 1983 I was 22 and living the Life..! Nothing but a good time...!!!!!!
the best track ever made by u2. and what a performance on this festival! no posing, no videoscreens, almost no lightshow, just pure u2-music. to me they lost their touch over the years ...
One of my favorites and it always becomes one of the first ones i play when the year changes. Will never forget seeing them do this at The LA Coliseum with 78,000 fans during Nov 87. Rock On.
Yo tenía 7 años y me transforma la energía q trasmite escuchar la música 🎶 ,sin entender el Inglés 😅 y ahora sigo fiel escuchándolos 🎸🎸🎤🎹BONO I Love you for Ever
"New Year's Day" is a song by Irish rock band U2, released in 1983 as the lead single from their third studio album, "War." The song was written by all four members of U2 and produced by Steve Lillywhite. "New Year's Day" is a politically charged song that draws inspiration from the Solidarity movement in Poland, which was protesting against the country's communist government at the time. The lyrics speak of hope and determination in the face of oppression and injustice: "I will begin again / I will be born again / I will rise up with the dawn / I will fight on." The song's distinctive opening riff, played on The Edge's guitar with delay and reverb effects, has become one of U2's most recognizable musical signatures. The song's anthemic chorus and driving rhythm section make it a crowd favorite at U2's live concerts. "New Year's Day" was a commercial success, reaching the top ten in several countries, including the UK, where it peaked at number 10. It remains one of U2's most popular and enduring songs, and its message of hope and perseverance continues to resonate with fans around the world. Regenerate response
It still amazes me to this day how they managed to smooth out the bass' sound issues when mixing this song for the 'Under A Blood Red Sky' album! And this show and this song in particular had been my very first U2 impression; I'm glad 13-year-old me was able to witness this at least on TV, in realtime
@Hidetaka Uchida - Nice job in this version of combining the improved audio (as heard on the 'Under A Blood Red Sky' album) with the same video footage: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rEtY8LQozMM.html :-)
[00:00:01] _ U2 - New Year's Day ([Somos en el universo.] Árbol y raíz; donde uno es todo y todo es uno. [We are in the universe.] Tree and root; where one is all and all is one.)
All is quiet on New Year's Day A world in white gets underway I want to be with you, be with you night and day Nothing changes on New Year's Day On New Year's Day I will be with you again I will be with you again Under a blood-red sky A crowd has gathered in black and white Arms entwined, the chosen few The newspaper says, says Say it's true, it's true... And we can break through Though torn in two We can be one I... I will be with you again I... I will begin again Oh, oh. Oh, oh. Oh, oh Oh, maybe the time is right Oh, maybe tonight I will be with you again I will be with you again And so we are told this is the golden age And gold is the reason for the wars we wage Though I want to be with you Be with you night and day Nothing changes On New Year's Day On New Year's Day On New Year's Day
