EBTTRT begins at 2:05. Space Oddity (by David Bowie) intro as U2 enters Soldier Field, opening with Even Better Than The Real Thing. Live performance in Chicago, July 5 2011. U2 360° Tour - North American Leg 2 (HD)
Was in Pittsburgh for the final show on the tour. Brought my 2 teenage daughters with me. To this day they love David Bowie and U2. I’ve seen dozens of major acts. This may have been the best entrance ive seen. Ive seen U2 a bunch of times. I thought thus was better thN zooropa
I could watch every video of this opener a million times over. I was about 10 feet from Bono and the boys, myself - unreal night. Thanks very much for posting!
I have been to a lot of u2 concerts starting at the Joshua Tree just seen the Sphere on RU-vid and blown away can't wait to see in real life 😮😮😮👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍
Thanks for helping me relive the best day of my life! The concert was amazing, needless to say, but hanging out and talking to the other people in the general admission line was fun too! The guy in line right ahead of me had done GA before and told me that once you go GA, you never go back and he was right. Can't wait to do it again next tour!
Does anybody here know who made Space Oddity? It was David Bowie. I might also add that the title is a bit misleading as this is not a performance, but a broadcast of the actual song. It says "U2- Space Oddity (Intro), Even Better Than The Real Thing", but it is the real thing, only played over a loud speaker as an intro for when U2 ascends the stage. It does sound very ambient though because of the whole stage environment.
@6477bgwu Thanks! I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 - there's a newer version of the camera out now, though. It's a great point & shoot for both photos & HD video.
@JuniperLamplight16 If you read the description of the video (not the title), then you'll notice that David Bowie is referenced as the performer of Space Oddity. That song was the intro played as U2 entered the arena, as you mentioned. Even Better Than The Real Thing is the name of the song that U2 played live as their opening song, and it starts at 2:05 in the video. That's really the real thing.
U2 wishing they could write something as great as Space Oddity, what an anti climax after a song like that to have to listen to their bang average stuff.
I wasn't freaking out, just stating what I experienced reading the title. *there's* *for* Just sayin', you might wanna get that language fixed, I almost didn't get what you were saying there.
