The interviewer, Earl Chin, did a show called ROCKERS TV on UHF in the New York area for many, many years. A true ambassador for reggae music. Met him on the street once- nice guy.
I remember Jagger supporting that beard when Emotional Rescue was released. I've been a fan of the Rolling Stones since I was a kid in grade school during the 1960's. They covered the Blues, Motown, Berry and you name it they've done it and made it theirs'. The LP Black & Blue had Hay Negrita, Cherry Oh Baby, Hot Stuff - Dance PT1 2 & 3 Little Indian Girl on Emotional Rescue 1980. The Rolling Stones turned me on to Reggae music long before The Clash or The Police ever hit the music charts. Kool interview..

I get around a lot of Stones stuff on here too! Not an obsession I hope, just got drawn to them at a young age, through an elder brother, and got hooked!! I like this video & had forgotten Mick's bearded look/disguise! Is it just 'young' Mick that you find sexy, not Keith at all?! He looked pretty hot in his 20's & early 30's I think! Yes, I agree, they are the best songwriters. People who think otherwise only know about their hit songs, which are great, of course, but every album has some fantastic songs that you'd only know about if you listened to the album, like Stray Cat Blues, Monkey Man, Hand of Fate, Crazy Mama to name a few.

Mick was slated to be in the Werner Herzog film Fitzcarrado at this time. Thats why he had the beard. He had to pull out at the last minute due to scheduling conflicts.

Keith even in his zonked-out state must have really honed his PR skills at that point cause he omits to mention the incident where he threatened to gun down Peter Tosh when the latter took possession of his Jamaican abode and refused to move out
...when i met mick in the studio..he had a beard..and told us that he'd taught charlie watts everything he knew about drumming...lol i was surprised to see him in a beard...
Seen pictures of him before when he grew this bushy one, damn cool. When he was in the movie "Ned Kelly " here in Australia he was much younger and could only grow the goatee, but he was around 36-37 here hence being more mature he could grow a really awesome full one!
Mick had the beard during the recording of "Some Girls" in Paris in late 1977, early 1978. Then he shaved it off before the album came out in June '78.
There was an edited clip from this interview where someone dubbed over their talking, I could never find it again, I wonder if anyone would remember it? It featured a question about what Mick thinks about Keith snorting his father, and Mick proceeded to laugh the greatest laugh anyone could ever dub into his image lol
This was just before Tattoo you came out in 1980. Jagger was sporting a beard and removed it before the '81 tour. There's a pic of Jagger in Rolling Stone with the beard. Ned Kelly the movie was made back in 1070.
Keith was still using heroin on and off (on the sly) at this point. The slow slurred way of speaking and the floaty hand and body movements.. He plays it down these days with “it was just an experiment”
Nice.. Keith's endless toussle almost got me in a trance.....😑 Those huge shades make him look like a comic book character. Wonder what it is that he scribbled on his shirt. _"Foreign office"_ ....Jagger, such a highly talented driven bastard ,together with Richards' street cool was such a combustible combination, that made for some unprecedented most amazing music. Fact too is, one sucks without the other.
Mick sucks without Keith but not the other way around. Keith's solo music is FAR better than Mick's and better than anything the Stones have done since Tattoo You.
*@Rick Elder* Considering their solo work that's certainly true, but Richards reaped huge dividends because of Jagger's business acumen. These two were such opposites ,yet needed each other desperately....Richards pretends he doesn't need Jagger as much as Jagger needs him...which is total bullcrap...Hadn't it been for Jagger, Richards might've turned out a petty thief junky...while Jagger probably would've made it in politics or economics.....

@Rick Elder 🖐😄That's a good one...But, yeah...Richards has to own up to that fact, but at the same time tries to ridicule Jagger for being "Brenda" , his knighthood, and (of all things) his 'small' size. ...Jagger is an amazing entrepeneur, but for me personally ,Just like Elvis in the late 60's and 70's , for 30 years now, the Stones became a highly profitable cabaret....

I wonder how much Mick was able to be anonymous with that beard. Could he walk down the street and get a 6-pack without any fuss? He wore that beard from 1979 thru sometime in 1980. You can see in the Emotional Rescue album packaging that he was bearded. Kind of interesting to think of him being at a vocal mic in Nassau or Paris in 1979 recording a disco track like Emotional Rescue with that huge beard.

Mick drinking Heineken, classic. he has great taste even in drinking beer. Keith probably drank the other 11 or so beers, right? my absolute favorite choice for Alcohol consumption. since then, had to give up the "drink" I had way to much Fun then.
