UA OX Stomp Pedal - Bluetooth Issue

For an update, see link below. Otherwise, status is as follows:
1)Worked with my technical support person, but wasn't able to resolve the Bluetooth/App issue.
2).As far as the second issue (noticeable volume changes when switching RIGs), that issue was resolved and was caused by using only the Mono Output (Not stereo). Apparently, when I was able to access the OX App, I must have hard panned the mic setting to the Stereo Out 2 which wasn't connected to my mixing board. Thus, unable to hear the mic in MONO Out 1.
3) I now have a new issue, in that the pedal itself is not longer working. I can't hear anything.
4) In process of returning the OX Stomp, not sure if I'm going to get a replacement yet.

Original post: I recently purchased a Universal Audio OX Stomp pedal and I'm having a couple issues with it. First, I can't always connect to it using Bluetooth and thus can't use the App. Second, I get very noticeable volume changes when switching between the 6 Rigs. If anyone is having similar issues or suggestions, let me know.

I've just bought the ox stomp and haven't had any issues with the app on Android. Absolutely love this pedal.

It sucks long time. If I could I would never bought RUBY and DREAM. They sounds great but I would throw it through UA HQ window just because the stupid app.

The software definitely needs work. What has worked for me so far is to: -remove the pedal from your iPad’s Bluetooth list the first time you do this. -kill the app -unplug and replug power cable on pedal -after pedal fully boots up, load up uafx app on iPad. That usually does works for me. If that doesn’t work, also reboots the iPad before loading up the uafx app.

Oh yeah, also, disable auto screen lock on the iPad while using it for this. Once the iPad goes to sleep you are screwed and have to start over.

Also, make sure only the device you are using to edit has the pedals in their blutooth list so that it doesn't try to connect to the wrong device.

Not only do I have connectivity issues, but the app has 2 other problems for me. First, some attempts to move a slider cause the value to jump to zero, and second, I couldn't see or adjust the ratio value for the compressor. This was on Android.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I've tried everything you suggested, including disabling all my other Bluetooth devices connected to my iPad, under the theory that they might be causing a conflict, but the didn't work either. The only that did work was I did a complete factor reset and re-registered my OX. I used it for about 1/2 hr. Shut everything off and then turn it back on 15 minutes later and had all the same issues again.

It seems everything works so much better with the latest firmware. I have zero issues now, well almost. Connects most times straight away and seems to stay connected, even after turning phone off.

That's good. Hopefully, they resolved some of the connection issues. Again, not everyone had this issue, but I certainly did. I returned my OX Stomp, but at some point I'll consider getting another one.

Same issue here. Really hoping this gets fixed over firmware because it’s really ridiculous for a $500 pedal. I also have the Golden Reverberator and the 9v power connector is extremely unreliable. Same issue with the bluetooth there as well. The sound quality is truly impressive and the only reason why I tolerate it.

Sorry to hear about that. I ended up returning mine. I might still get another one, but I'll probably wait a few months.

I had the same issues. I found on UAFX community a post that says go to Bluetooth settings on device. Remove the unconnected listings , mine was an iPad, 22:16 and restart the pairing It works every time. Don’t know why you should have to do this but it seems that the software has trouble reconnecting to previously connected pedals. I have 5 pedals and they all work now with all 5 connected. I can swap pedals flawlessly. Give it a try. Cheers

Thanks for the feedback and advice. I no longer have my UA OX Stomp, but when I had it, I tried removing my other Bluetooth connections on my iPad "Forget This Device", but in my case, it still didn't work.

I saw that you have a CABM too... any comparison?

I no longer have the OX Stomp and never had a chance to do a side by side comparison, but I would say they are both very good. The speaker cabs in the OX are just as good as any top IR speaker cab you might load into the CABM. It's more matter of which features you may want and ease of use.That goes for the APP too. I did like the effects (Reverb, delay) better on the OX. I also found it easier to make changes directly on the OX pedal itself vs diving into the tiny menu on the CABM pedal. Of course if you use the APP to make changes, they're both about the same. The OX is also stereo and my version of the CABM is mono. You also have to consider price, since the OX is twice as much. If you have the money, it's nice to own both. If you're on a budget, you can't go wrong with the CABM. Two Notes also has a new pedal called OPUS, which includes preamp modeling, which is another option to consider.

Thats a bummer it does work properly. I had a ox box and it was great for about 2 weeks. The ox uses your wifi to connect Instead of Bluetooth. It would drop out about every hour or 2. I don't know if they fixed the issue, but unfortunately it was past the return policy and i just put in the closet and it rust away in there.

Wow, that's too bad about the OX Box. It's not exactly cheap. I was actually considering getting the OX Box first, but I already have a load box from Two Notes which is why I bought OX Stomp instead. Luckily, I can still return it, which I'm in the process of doing.

@mutzmusic5737 I ended up getting a fryette power load I R. I was also considering the ox stomp. I have a lot of pre amps and a synergy syn2. The ox stomp would be really convenient to use with my pre amps, but I hesitate because of U.A. and their wireless capabilities. Maybe the two notes opes might be a better option. I hope you can work it out with the stomp. When the OX worked, it sounded great.

@@jrlee243 Thanks. In the rare moments I could connect to my OX Stomp, it sounded great too. After I return it, I still might get another one, but I'm going to hold off a couple months or until I'm confident UA has fixed some of these bugs and improved the software.

The UAFX pedals require a 500ma supply. My golden powered up but would not pair on a 300 ma. Suppply I switched to a 500ma supply and wal la worked like it should. Try. Changing you supply. Plumbgum

Interesting. Well, at least it worked for you. In my case, my power supply is a TrueTone 1 Spot rated up to 1700ma max, and it still wouldn't work.

I got the Lion and I've had nothing but connection issues since I got it 2 weeks ago , I've not had it run consistently for more then 15 min . It's a HUNK of junk !

terrible bluetooth, have exactly the same problem. just updated to latest software and now i can't connect to ox stomp at all.

I no longer own mine, but it seems to me there are still a lot of people still having issues with the bluetooth. I assume UA still hasn't done anything about this, which is why I'm holding off on getting a replacement.

If Universal Audio can't fix the Bluetooth app issues return the pedal. Maybe you have a faulty pedal? It's a shame but it's IMO too expensive to keep if you can't control the pedal. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion. That seems to be were I'm headed, but right now I'm working with my tech contact who's working with UA to see if it's software issue or some type of Bluetooth conflict going on between the OX pedal and my iPad.
