Hey man! Great video. Security systems professional here, one piece of advice I want to give you, please use surveillance grade hard drives such as Skyhawk or WD Purple or any specialized enterprise/NAS HDD models such as WD RED or IRONWOLF. Even though cheap, normal HDDs break down much faster and are not as reliable long term (they fail the SMART tests much more often after years of usage). Those drives also come with a 5 year free data recovery plan which gives you peace of mind in the case something does goes wrong and the client will most likely not lose critical recordings. Cheers!

If you take apart the enclosure with little to no damage then keep them in the boxes for if you get a failure to RMA it. WD did not give me a hard time on my RMA when one of my drives failed in my NAS. I just kept a list of what internal serial number went in each enclosure and keep in my garage.

A full year?!?! Who's slacking? MY home office floor was ripped up in I think April 2022 and finally got fixed in October 2022 for a pipe that cracked in the foundation. I'm still not back to where I was before on unpacking and organizing my tech.

For the Keystones I use Trendnet ones, they have a plastic 'cover' on a hinge and when you close it the strands get pushed in so you do not need a pushdown 8 times

Have you checked into having your internet connection being bridged so your actual Internet address is located on the Dream Machine? Makes things a ton easier especially if things are added that require opening ports. Also, one of the cheap network testers available on Amazon that has 8 remotes would have made your life a lot easier. I’m struggling through a pretty big install right now also, and one of those jobs that keeps getting more and more added to it as time goes by. Yesterday I spent 14 hours taking the old rack out and installing a slightly bigger one, but a 24” deep one on a hinge, and wow it’s so much nicer, I struggle with keeping things neat and organized but I’m learning. It has 3, HDBaseT boxes, each with 8 inputs and 8 outputs, and as of now they go to 21 TVs, 17 are 85”, and 4 are 86”, then there are two access points, 4 small switches and one 24 port PoE, a 64 camera NVR/switch system, a door access secure area, a point of sale system consisting of a server, 2 wired locations, and 4 wireless locations, and it’s all connected to a liquor gun system that makes it so you can’t make a drink unless it’s put on a persons bill. On top of that there are over 1,000,000 leds on two different, DMX systems, and a networked JBL audio system. That’s all I can think of at the moment but there’s more lol, it’s a zoo but I’m having a lot of fun with it at the same time. So, after all that babble, it’s the reason I’m looking into network install videos, especially UniFi systems, I’ve done several already and am still learning of course. Firewall rules are a struggle for me, especially in UniFi, keeping all the networks separated for security. Tempted to do a video of it but I’m super awkward on camera and there are always people around, plus I’m on the clock so have to watch that. Anyway, looking forward to your next video.

Wow, what a downlink from UDM to switch. I asume you'll get a DAC cable later?

Why have a cloud key if the UDM pro can host the network console?

Do you drop 3 Ethernet behind each tv? (tv, soundbar,1 spare)

What considerations are you needing to check for hard drives. And is a 14 TB drive no problem? Why Ubiquiti only sells an 8TB, I will never know. What was the crank of 14 TB from Best Buy?

Are the hard drives in those easy store devices NAS rated?

Why the TP link router? Doesn't the Internet provider already provide you with a router?

Using those hdd from those external hard drives won't last. I installed those in almost a dozen cloud keys and udm pros and they have all failed within a few months. Those cheap nas drives are not ment to be constantly written. I had to replace all with actual nvr drives. Be warned. I lost all my profit off those jobs replacing hard drives
