In this video, I compare 3 of my favourite Wireless Access Points from Ubiquiti Unifi, Aruba Instant On and TP-Link Omada.
During the course of the video, I looked at the specs, software, and some considerations and finally I carried out a basic speed test to compare the WiFi speed on a very simple setup.
** I had a bit of an issue with the camera auto-focus in this video **

From a purely physical perspective, the Unifi is one of the slimmest and least intrusive looking. With that said, I am a little sick of Unifi not getting their act together with mDNS and IPv6 and I am seriously considering going to TP Link Omada. This is a great little comparison video. Thanks for all the work you put into it.

Hi, thank you very much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I agree Unifi are sometimes a little slow out of the blocks but overall their products are pretty slick.

I run Omada for two years now. It's still buggy and when you adopt a router or switch it still remove several advanced features when compared to their own hardware when implemented standalone. Not mentioning a weird Wifi6 speed cap bug bellow 400 mbps that is live for a year now.

I'm using the U6 Pro and U6 E at the office and have encountered an issue where the WiFi slows down during MS Teams meetings, especially when there are 60 or more users in the meeting.

Great Video! I love the detail explanations. I was set on going with the U6+ for my home, but the speed test sort of shot down my drive for it. Now I am leaning towards the EAP670. Would you have any idea why the speed was sub par compared to the others?

Glad you enjoyed it 😊 Without a controller and with the default settings the AP didn’t have much of a chance to find the best settings. When configured correctly they are normally pretty solid. I was quite surprised to be honest but we never use Standalone mode tbh.

Hey, I've just uploaded a video on channel width, which gives a step-by-step on improving the WiFi speeds with Channel width. The video can be found here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ljd22_yj2MA.html You might find it useful if you're still undecided.

Did you also use HE80? I had a similar problem because HE40 was set.

Hi, in this video the purpose was just to test them out the box in standalone mode as an inexperienced person would do. It would definitely be possible to get better speeds from the Ubiquiti by increasing the channel width and ensuring the optimal channels are being used etc.

Hey, I've just uploaded a video on channel width as you mentioned the difference between 40 and 80 is fairly considerable and can be seen in the video. The video can be found here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ljd22_yj2MA.html

The default on Ubiquiti APs is 40, that's why out of the box you get those speeds. Usually all other products I've played with, the default is 80. I'm a bit concerned with the RMA process... 5 weeks is crazy! I'd rather buy a new one which is literally a next day delivery if they have them in stock that is... Really crazy stuff. Hopefully I won't have to use the RMA process.

Hello Can I ask you as a question about AP 11 aruba instant on? How can we see the clients list connected in guests network? In local or employee networks, clients' list is shown. Thanks

Hi, Select ‘connected clients’ on the dash board. You’ll see a list. If you select the clients it will tell you which network or SSID they are connected to. Huw

@@home.network.solutions Thanks for the guide and reply, I did it the same way you suggest, but it shows all clients for all the ssids or networks except guest network. Is this the normal in the sense taht guest network doesn't show cllients or any configuration to be done. Thanks

the thing about unifi AP's is that they are so cheap that you just keep a few hot spares

They are cheap, but in fairness all these models are pretty cheap.
