gaming is an important hobby of mine, I enjoy it but people who make it their whole identity are cringe. Learn something that actually takes real world skill and identify with that, like a musical instrument for example... at least RGT plays guitar so he gets a pass ;)
"Monetization Director at Ubisoft" I think that in this politically heated and culturally divisive environment, we can all unite hand-in-hand and agree that this guy is the first guy in the entire gaming industry who should be unceremoniously kicked out.
I’m a customer, not an employee. I don’t have to buy your stuff. If you don’t give me a reason to want to buy your stuff then that’s on you. When you insult me for not wanting to buy your stuff you make an enemy of me and I root for your downfall. Crazy way to operate your business. I’d think I’d find a way to attract customers so I can increase sales but whatever. These companies need to understand, it’s their job to attract customers and give them a reasons to buy. It’s not the customers job to buy your product.
I mean Ubisoft said players need to get comfortable not owning their games but they didnt consider people are already comfortable not buying their games.
I got very comfortable not owning their games. I don't own them because I don't buy them. That's what they meant, right? They didn't want us to buy them.
"There is only one boss: the customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else." - Sam Walton
If Ubisoft’s games were legit good and not mediocre at best they wouldn’t be in this predicament, they have had chance after chance to improve but never have.
@@robardian3697 ding ding ding your a fruit cake their games are good ! You must have just started playing video games . Go ding ding ding somewhere else 😂😂😂
@@CarlosDiaz-fs6cvyeah, for some reason the games that Ubisoft don't really care that much are the cool ones like Immortals Fenyx Rising and Assassin's Creed Nexus VR
As Shawn has said for years, none of these companies are your friend. They operate on the basis that you're there to make money off of, nothing more or less. You're a dollar sign to these people. Whether they have some other agenda or not is really irrelevant. What matters is you, the consumer look at these companies for exactly what they are, don't fall in love with a business. Enjoy what they put out when they respect your role in the business/consumer relationship. When they don't, STOP GIVING THEM FREAKING MONEY THEY DON'T DESERVE. PERIOD.
and yet thats always what these stupid devs thinks that would make their games a success hardly any devs these days that just wants to make games so anyone can play them
I picked it up for $10. I thought for sure I could find something worthwhile for $10. Not really. The game looks really bad, which shocked me. At the very least, it could have been visually appealing for as much time was spent in it. Didn’t they claim AAAA?! What a waste of assets.
When it comes to music, movies, TV shows, video games or even checking out podcasts and RU-vid videos, we have decades worth of content that would take several lifetimes to finish. Indie, foreign, vintage/retro. I never have to spend another cent on entertainment ever again.
Precisely. This. At 42 where I'm at now, I've long since gotten rid of TV, only have one streaming service (Peacock, for WWE purposes, mostly the old stuff), and as far as games go if nothing really comes off as appealing or worth having, consoles or games, I've more than enough on my shelf to keep myself content until the motor skills in my hands are no longer able to properly work a controller. Sad in some ways perhaps, but I'd rather be happy with what I have than to be dissatisfied with what comes with the future.
@@jimmyv3170 Beautiful. And y'know that's fine, if that makes us modern day "boomers" so to speak then so be it. Because it happens to everyone, eventually. You reach a point, a limit, where nothing new really entices you like it used to. Sure maybe once in a while something might come along and it works, but for the majority, we're comfortable with what we know.
Honestly I think it’s best for people to ignore these kind of responses and to just sit back and laugh as we watch these idiots burn their own company to the ground from their own stupid decisions.
Imagine if a car manufacturer made a car so bad it broke down every hundred miles and then started calling people that dont buy their vehicles bad people because if they don't their employees will get fired.
I really think that the uproar against “woke” is a distraction from the biggest market forces at work here. The simple fact of the matter is that Star Wars Outlaws is an extremely expensive game, costing $70 for a pared-down version and $110 for the complete version. That’s an enormous amount of money to ask for a game, in an economy where people are having trouble putting food on the table. For that price, the game needs to be mind-blowingly incredible. Polished to the point of flawlessness and delightfully innovative. Middling reviews, half baked gameplay, and a lack of polish are simply not acceptable at that price. The gaming market needs a reset. We need mid-priced AA games to have a resurgence.
Idealogues are being set up at every company and repeating the same playbook everywhere they go. At some point, it’s time to stop being willfully ignorant and acknowledge the pattern.
Do you have any evidence people are having a harder time putting food on their table right now compared to 10 or 15 years ago? Or 30-40 years ago? 78.9% of the USA population is overweight and above. Certainly people are struggling, but the fat citizens in the obesity capital of the world are having trouble putting food on their table?
They need to change their mentality! I don’t know when they all started to behave like this, but they are not an essential business. They are an entertainment business! If they produce something nobody wants, this is the results they will get. Nobody asked for skull and bones, nobody wanted Star Wars Outlaws, nobody’s talking about XDefiant, and we all know what’s going to happen with AC: Shadows. Then to release a game in a buggy mess at FULL PRICE…Ubisoft should only blame themselves…but they’re blaming people who have money to give. The very definition of biting the hand that feeds!
The problem is that people refuse to take accountability for their own actions/decisions if it doesn’t go their way Life isn’t fair because it was hard working, good people would get good fortune all the time but we all know that doesn’t really happen now does it?
I am studying product design and we learn that when making anything that is to be sold it is of the utmost importance to research and test whether what you are making will connect with the target audience. Star Wars as a whole seems to have been failing at this miserably with a few exceptions. The people who were responsible for some major decisions made for this game need to go back to the basics and try to figure out what they are doing wrong. Look at what people liked about fallen order, or battlefront 2. Do surveys, talk to the fans, get outside opinions and don't get tunnel vision on what you think is the right direction. Disney really should've approached George Lukas for some input on the direction of Star Wars when they had the chance, because I doubt that he will want to after what they have done so far...
There are 2 ways to think about the "vocal minority" either they're more mad than everyone else which means they're the only ones who will complain. Or we could look at it how real businesses look at it. For every 100 dissatisfied customers, 1 or 2 will speak up. So if you have ~10 people speaking up, then you have thousands of dissatisfied customers who don't speak up and just kick rocks. EDIT: And whenever someone just throws out the term haters and hate just let your eyes glaze over and stop listening because it's their ego speaking at that point.
There are actually two vocal minorities in this case. The one they choose to ignore (who by their sales numbers seem to represent the silent majority) and the one they choose to pander to.
Very true, i played games from the late 80's throughout the 90's and 2000's. Around 2016 i stopped buying and playing a lot of games. It seems like these people just want to stick intersectional propaganda into everything.
Usually companies fall with a sudden hit. Embracer losing the dubai money, thq getting bankrupt by that wiiu peripheral, volition imploding with saints row. But ubisoft is really a slow, dead man walking death; getting chopped every day, piece by piece
I love the idea that one of the people who literally studies Vegas techniques to keep people spending more than they actually want to by tapping into their addictive personalities so a corporation can get more money has the audacity to call other people indecent for not buying a product that doesn't interest them. It is a corporate-level weaponization of FOMO. The gaming world is literally filled with people obsessively completing battle passes to earn items they won't use because they have personality types that make it hard for them to stop and this corporate stooge is out there throwing a tantrum because this tactic doesn't work on more of us. Hey guys, if you play 10 more hours, you can earn a red shirt OR you could pay the corporation $10 to have it now! It sure is a nice red shirt. You don't want to miss out before we arbitrarily lock it away, do you? I'm a good person. Give me your money.
I’m actually enjoying Outlaws. It would have been nice to have had an immediately tie in to the actual Star Wars universe, but I’ve only begun Kay’s journey…. I’ll find out eventually.
In my opinion, woke politics and ideology has found its ways into all aspects of life. Companies want to be PC but they go to far. Also these companies are deaf to the older, long time gamers desires for what they want in games. These big conpanies alienate their core audience that helped build these companies in favor for what is a populare trend. Also from personal experience, working with French companies, like Ubisoft, they are a bit snobbish. Gaming from the 1980's to the early 2000's and even some of the 2010's had games made by gamers for the love of gaming. The problem is trying to monetize everything.
I mean yeah, the incel chuds get their panties in a twist if a game has a gay character or the main female lead doesn't have F cup boobs that bounce like jello in a bikini. So much crying about "woke", like take your diapers off, grow up, and play the game
@@DoctorMeh nah all ….. all games that have been released this year I enjoyed most of them …. You guys enjoy none of them …. @@BROOKLYNBORN1994sounds like you work for Ubisoft 😂😂😂 "IT'S YOUR FAULT!!!!!! YOUR FAULT!!!!!!!" "But......but think of the multi billion dollar corporations" 😢
I imagine they are pissed because these employees are doing such a bad job the studios will probably end up being sold to a Chinese company and all of these people will be replaced lol. This is what happens when you make a product that's only for you and a very small group of people and not for the millions of people that supported the products since the beginning of time. If you're going to cater to maybe 5% then don't cry when 95% don't buy it.
Completely agree. Consumers have no obligation to purchase everything a company puts out. I'm sure everyone has this issue to some extent as well: too much of a game backlog. I feel there is an over saturation of games, and the industry cannot sustain the level of interest needed for each release. Also, with inflation and how the world is at the moment, entertainment takes a back seat financially at times.
@eszterfodor1136 Yeah, investors probably want to hear that, but telling gamers they're stupid for not liking grindy open world trash just makes it worse.
Bought a brand new unopened game (toy soldiers) last year. 1st level worked then it never worked again. Reinstalled & everything else it says to do & nothing. Put in a help ticket with Ubisoft & their response was try it on another console. So I’m suppose to buy another xbox one to see if this $10 game works? Wtf
I agree with everything he said, nothing he said was in defense of Ubisoft. A lot of a gamers that engage in discourse online are assholes and thrive off negativity.
Ubisoft was top tier for me during 360/ps3 and early XBO/ps4! I went down hill when starting limiting Exp gains and then selling you boosts in the later Assassins creeds games
Far Cry 4 is extremely underrated and it's the only one I keep installed. It lets you turn the HUD feature completely off and it has the best verticality seen in any game. On Series X the graphics are mind-blowing plus it's 60fps enhanced.
This is why participation trophies shouldn’t be a thing. Instead of understanding the loss and accepting that it was a flop, they throw a tantrum and blame the ones who literally pay their bills. Without gamers and fans, they have nothing.
It’s because big companies these days feel powerful enough to dictate to others what they _have_ to consume and like, instead of catering to what the consumers really want, the whole thing is upside down.
The "You don't anything" line from UBISoft should have been the final nail in the coffin for them. Hope they finally shut down for good and sell their IPs to companies like Krafton or Atari
The moment he called us “non-decent” human being, I’m just shocked. Did he actually just dehumanized ALL OF US?! Listen, we customers may not always be right, but that is NOT an excuse to call us a “non-decent” human being!
Monetization shouldn't be so complex that it needs a full time employee to handle it. It's no wonder people are frustrated at the state of games today, we're nickle-and-dimed to an unbelievable degree.
When McDonalds makes a new sandwich and it's garbage, and everyone complains about it, you don't see their reps screaming about it. Make products for your customers.
Ubisoft, here's how it works. Gamers tell YOU what we want in the games. YOU give us great gameplay with a great story. WE give you money to continue making quality games & stockholders remain happy.
They thought it was a privilege for us as customers to purchase their products. When in reality it was privilege for us to give them our money that they lost its on them..
Theyre literally trying to say that not liking/buying their games is immoral and all gamers are bad and wrong for not supporting them blindly. Wow. Quite a stance, "Monetization Director" 🙄
Omg that monetization director trying to play victim and talk about hate lmao ok bub. Acting like this is a complicated social issue is such a cop out. People feel ripped off and that is hate wtf dude
