Probably because they're a bunch of out-of-touch boomers who actually aren't that into games. Ubi is basically run by one family, the Guillemots, and the patriarchs are basically in that age where they don't know shit about gaming and only care about how to make the most money for the least amount of effort.
This is only half. Assassins creed became a Viking fake RPG The division dev listen to the pve player and said "we do what we want" Splinter cell went from puzzle spy game to first person MAX of pain Hyper scape got 0 new content and when they added crossplay they basically gave controller aimbot(I'm controller player btw Far cry was always an overrated series Watch dogs horrible launch and bugs Watch dogs 2 shitty multiplayer Watch dogs legien should have never happened. @@__-fi6xg because theirs no firmly established main character the game story suffers and struggles to hold the narrative together. The recruitment system is a knock off of the Nemesis system because Warner Bros copyrighted the concept (which was still a bad move in my opinion) the gameplay is alright, it’s not as in depth as the last two games since they wanted to give characters specializations. Overall it’s a very mid game. You can play around with it and that has some entertainment value but it’s the weakest of the Watch Dogs games by a mile
@@Broomer52 i see, would you recommend the game for 10 bucks? I want to see some eye candy because i have new hardware in my pc but if its not enjoyable, whats the point.
tbf ubisoft has been tanking their prices just a few months after release ever since I can remember. Buying a Ubisoft game at launch feels like a ridiculous waste of money at this point
@@A1stardan probably not, but I still got a few solid hours of fun out of division playing coop. I think I paid the 1€ ubisoft subscription trial. gotta go in with low expectations tho
I stopped playing Ubisoft games when they started treating their paying customers worse than the pirates our of paranoia over piracy, forcing always online for single player games etc. I said one day I would come back if they ever pulled their heads out of their asses, but that's never happened. Good riddance to the maker of the most mediocre of mediocre games if they do die, which I am sure they wont.
Pirate insider info: denuvo gets cracked eventually. A majority of the pirating community Buys the games they pirated but only if the game is worth the Cost and if they are financially able to (Elden ring got cracked the day of release and there are An insane amount of Pirates that bought it). There are numerous studies that pirating doesnt actually Hurt sales it boosts them but again under the condition that the product is worth the buy. Nowadays when i see always online i immediately become worried about the Quality of the game.
For me it was the microtransactions that made me stop playing their games. Buying a game at full price then seeing the start menu have store tabs and premium currency offers like a mf mobile game offends me
I remember when GTA 6 leaked, and I saw someone tweet “you know Rockstar is at least a couple years away because the leaks look like a finished Ubisoft product.” Their reputation for putting out games that are as deep as a puddle is going to be hard to shake.
This Is the core of the issue and It enrages me to no end. If your product isn't meant to be sold and successful on the market but keep satisfied a bunch of rich idiots that don't know nothing that don't care about your business and are just waiting to cash out, your product won't likely be good. And if It does, it's by chance and compromise. Shareholders don't understand shit and DON'T HAVE THE INTERESTS OF THE BUSINESS IN THEIR MINDS. They have only their interests, which are short term.
@@lorenzomeulli750 It might seem like that from your perspective. But shareholding is usually a long-term venture. You are sacrifizing your own money on a company you believe in, so of course you have an interest in their business. If they die out, you lose all your investments. Now, as a shareholder you might not love the company as a fan would, but you love your money and want them to grow. What is and what isn´t meant to be sold is determined by the market around 5 years later, and once you realize that a strategy isn´t working anymore you might have 3-4 projects that are ongoing and utilizing that strategy. And terminating them midway means a huge waste of investments. It´s a very hard and risky business, all considered. Not to mention all the rumors fueled by both media and fans that inevitably affect how well you do. If there were no shareholders there wouldn´t be any games in the first place, at least not of bigger magnitude than indie games. I don´t get your reasoning in the second paragraph either, if the product isn´t meant to be sold and therefore not(?) successfull, how can these rich idiots then cash out? Rich idiots want to be even richer, that´s how they became rich in the first place. Unless they inherited their money. They are satisfied when their investments pay off, that´s all they care about. For that to happen they have to care about the business they invest in, otherwise it´s just a complete gamble. The fact that Ubisoft is so desperate that they scrap project upon project in order to rely on their successes tells me that the real pushback is coming from shareholders. They do not read RU-vid comments and base their company decisions on those. Unless they have gone insane.
@Lind Morn Capitalism has nothing to do with it. You sound like a whiney liberal. Just like the devs of Ubisoft. Getting woke is what destroyed their company. No one started hating Ubisoft until FarCry: New Dawn. With their woke BS. Thats when people started tuning out.
If mirage fails it'll likely be their end. They keep disappointing everyone and honestly I'd be pretty depressed at that point if they don't get bought out or their IPs get taken up by a more competent company. One because how would I be able to play the games again, it's pretty hard to find used copies for cheap. Plus the systems needed to play them.
@@Kevin-tl1zs farcry 6 was fine first played when it came out and felt so bad I took a year break then hopped in again with my buddy and never realized how I couldn’t appreciate the game it looked so nice and the map was massive asf we both also loved newdawn and would put it at #1 if it wasn’t so short
I DO hope that after a huge success of both Elden Ring and Hogwards Legacy, these greedy corporations will understand that Single Player titles that have "a soul" within it are still profitable. The AAA industry has recently forgotten over time that having devoted fanbase is an essential part in maintaining the brand. The best thing we can do is simply not to buy the games. We as individuals and customers are the reason they are (or used to be) rich. They (as well as gamers) forgot that gaming developers are for US, not we for them.
I think the opposite. Those companies know single player games have a soul and are beloved. What they are trying to do is pretend single player games are bad, in order for there to be only coop games, and those coop games need atleast two humans to fuction in order to pump up their sales. OK, maybe not that, though I firmly believe they know those games are beloved and have a soul as single player games were beloved from 80s and to today.
Called like most companies short term profits at long term cost. It's not about the player it's about giving out dividends to investors. This is a problem not just in gaming but pretty much everything in the western world. Look at Ohio for a prime example with that norfolk Southern shit, spending money on back backs to push up investor dividends and stock price while sacrificing workers and people. Ubisoft and Co are doing the same sort of thing with dividends for investors. If you want to blame someone blame fcking Reagan and boomers who pushed the world into trickle down capitalism. Same thing with the real estate industry went from a house is a home to an investment it's all the same pattern just a different coat of shit on it
@@Leonard_Wolf_2056 I also think the heavy focus on multiplayer games is cash motivated, since a multiplayer game doesn’t„die“ as fast as a story game and there are more ways to monetize it with cosmetics, a battle pass, some sort of in-Game boosts etc. As a long term Siege player, I was able to watch the greed of Ubisoft growing with every year, since they introduced every.single.kind of microtransations into Siege, while also keeping the game alive for 8 years now with new content and bug fixes. I don’t think any story game can generate that much money in the same period of time
Diablo Immortal made more money in a single day (or was it a week?) than Elden Ring did during it's entire run. For a company that has the legal obligation to shareholders to maximize profits, that means that all the cries for single player games is just noise, as the money is in live service games that they don't have to maintain for long. As for not buying shit games, you're probably preaching to the choir here; It's not "us" who are buying these games, but the average person who goes to their 9 to 5 job, goes home, plays some games and barely exists online. For those people, calls for action online might as well not exist.
I think that as long as they make the new AC what the fans want and with minimal microtransactions they will hold the company together to make the Star Wars game, and if they please the Star Wars community and as a extension Lucasfilm (Disney), well they might just live another 3 to 5 years until we would be in the same situation again.
@@daxain7368 true, but hey, who knows, maybe they will somehow please Disney's greed with UNLIMITED money and will give us hopefully a coherent story with good gameplay, cause that's what we want in the end, we want a story that makes sense, respects all the Legacy Star Wars characters and rules of the universe (including Stormtroopers) also the weapons, vehicles, enemies, flora, fauna, locations etc. need to fit the overall aesthetic of Star Wars, a prime example of how to not follow them is something like SWTOR
I can not wait for Skull and Bones come out! Let's see the game which took like a decade to make, has been delayed 6 times an counting, and likely burned over $100 million developing versions of the game which have now been scrapped
I can only think that S&B being delayed yet again is a hint that something is going down within the company. I saw a few people who played the closed testing who were saying they couldn't say much but what they could say was that it was almost 100% ready to go and was actually pretty good. So why delay it?
@@michaellorah9051 The people I've seen who did the testing said there was nothing fun in it. Not surprised because there's nothing fun in any Ubisoft game.
I would love to see the statistical breakdown for demographics that actually purchase battlepasses/cosmetics/etc for single player games. I'd also love to see who is actually buying these games and if they're actually completing or playing them at length. I don't know anyone who's bought a ubi title in years and these numbers hurt my head considering my personal experience
@@SG-bp4lg first off boomers are like 43+ if you're currently 40 sorry to say it but you're a millennial. Second they'd be rhe easiest to get money out of. Release a buggy mess of a game as long as it boots up the weekend it launched they wouldn't notice how bad it is because they play so little free money basically. Also I'm using the division for example they completely slowed down the game not for younger players but older players that can't hit someone going left and right
Something you didn't mention: The Ubisoft stock plummet coincides with Tencent's acquisition of becoming their primary investor. The majority of game sales are actually happening in China. That's where the money is right now. So with Tencent's influence, Ubisoft is actually moving forward with making China-Safe games as their primary objective, then they'll iterate on them for the rest of the world markets. For years they've been compromising their designs for China second. It's expensive and frustrating and takes a lot of time and money making a parallel game. It's not just translating the languages. For China, they have to completely change some of the stories, major parts of it. A lot of "western" story themes deal with government corruption, but that's not allowed being represented in games in China. There are many things the devs need to change or censor. So instead of all that, it's simpler and cheaper to put China first. And if there's investment money left over, they'll add some "blood" on dispatched NPCs for us "Westerners".
They've been killing franchises for years. They buy up IP, milk them for what it's worth, then throw it away. Chessmaster, anyone? The last Ubisoft release of Chessmaster back in 2007 had a buggy launch, and when the game didn't return a profit like they wanted, they simply discarded it. Fans, community, art be damned.
I enjoyed Wildlands, but I can't really think of anything else after Black Flag that I can honestly say was a great game to me. Maybe Origins cause it was fresh?
yeah i agree, some of the games in the rayman series are legit some of my favourite 2d and 3d platformers to date but again, not a single one has come out after 2015
As a Ubisoft fan I think this video was respectful and talked about the facts which I honestly didn’t expect from a video with this title. However I do like hearing other people’s thoughts on things and heck this just showed me that the company I support has major flaws and could actually be gone in a few years if they aren’t careful. So yeah good video, hopefully Ubisoft can rise back up and starts showing us the stuff that made them known to begin with!
Another great video, man! These Ubisoft woes really are sort of a bummer. I've been a fan of a few of their games over the years. Back when they were putting out Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and the original Splinter Cell, they were one of the best around imo, but boy have they fallen hard. Also disappointing to hear that they haven't cleaned up their act after all the harassment scandals. Doubling down on live service games is such a risky move. The potential rewards are great, but the problem is that not all gamers want that sort of game, and the ones that do, probably already have a live service game that they're playing. It's like trying to make a new MMO when there are already well established MMOs on the market. Anyone who's interested in those games is already playing one, and they're probably doing it with all of their friends, so you have to produce something pretty incredible to unseat people from their GaaS of choice and abandon the hundreds of hours of progress and investment they've put into it to start something fresh. Maybe you luck out and hit when a major live service game stumbles or experiences widespread fatigue in its player base, but man those are long odds, and impossible to plan for considering the length of game development (not to mention Ubi's challenges hitting deadlines for any game that doesn't have two asses and a creed in the title).
You really can't be lazy with GaaS. You're absolutely right, there's already a bunch out there that people are already playing, so you need something unique to draw people in. Will a far cry live service game feel any different to the ones we already have? Considering you not only need to get people invested, but also have them and all their friends jump ship from another game that they're already established in to try out this new thing, "a far cry live service" isnt gonna be enough unless it's flat out incredible. Suicide Squad might actually have a shot to do well because we don't have a superhero GaaS anymore, it's not an automatic win but if the game is well made (unlike Avengers) then it has that unique draw I'm talking about. It's worth a shot for bigger companies cause as much as people complain about it, it sure makes the big bucks. But to put all your eggs in that basket? To bastardize your classic IPs to turn them into services and then abandon the rest? That sounds like a recipe for disaster. I've definitely liked some of Ubisofts games in the past but I don't think I'm excited for any of their upcoming games besides mirage, just cause I wanna see how an old school AC game looks nowadays
The problem is, all those big companies that were smaller before are now ran by cargo shorts golf dads instead of actual gamers, at least the people actually making decisions from the top.
As a for honor player i agree with you I mean every recent character they brought out is just a mash up of older animations and they make them busted on release behind a pay wall then a week later they nerf to hell as soon as it’s not behind a money only pay wall
As a just dance fan base. They don’t really pay that much attention to us. They barley changed their theme after years of the same one on almost 5 different games. It sucks bc it’s a fun game that shouldn’t be a cash grab each freakin time.
Ubisoft, EA, Konami, Blizzard-Activision, Naughty Dog - the disaster of AAA success. When a good game becomes mainstream and a studio becomes increasingly corporate with stakeholders calling the shots - the games become creatively bankrupt soulless cash grabs. a.k.a. selling the same tired brand sh*t N-times a year.

But that's the best game that they've made in probably like... ever maybe? At least the last five years. You should've at least mentioned it as an original title that turned out really good.
I don't see how it could be interesting nor popular at all. Ubishit is just weird with all the sports titles, Steep, Roller champions, Driders Republic. This whole game is about riding a bicycle as far as I've seen and nothing much more so you can go outside and do just that, what's so special about it

@Oliver Queen To each his own. I liked the game. Going by reviews from both normal consumers and critics, most people enjoyed it, so saying the game is bad all around is objectively wrong by that logic. It's one of their very few good modern games. Still, I do agree that Ubisoft is still shitting the bed right now, and most of their games nowadays are utter trash. Nostalgic reboots are not going to save them.
I hate Uplay. Like I want to boot up a game that I purchased and it turns out I have to download a secondary launcher. Not only that, sometimes the games refuse to authenticate
I will never understand what kind of person buy an Ubisoft game i tried far cry 5 and it was some of the most soulless piece of video game media i have ever experienced
Add to that an amazing idea they got recently to; and I shit you not; "team up with police to JAIL people that shit talk in their online games" but you know, only if it's extreme shit talk like telling someone to KYS... in ingame voicechat... where you never meet again... where you can just mute them... they want to jail people for talking badly in a game, I wonder how many 12year olds are going to jail for this... I dont have enought hands to facepalm this properly.
It’s funny because games like Rainbow Six Siege is their only source of reliable income and they can’t help but to constantly make that game worse too. Can’t even get live service features out on time without delays
@@jacobwhelan45 I played R6S briefly a few years ago on Xbox One, I tried returning few months ago and was disgusted how overly monetised it was, it felt like a f2p game...
Well tbh it's probably for the best Ubisoft sinks...I enjoyed a good bit of the AC series but I'm not going to miss it really and those devs will move on to other projects
As long as these "big" companies have enough money to buy reviews and make people believe that these are the games they need to play, they can stay relevant in the industry despite not having made anything good since before most of their fans were alive. It doesn't matter, it's a machine that prints money. The games are storefronts to sell microtransactions, and that money goes back into marketing while the actual development teams get pennies. Manufactured consent. I mean, what is an indie game except a game that wasn't made with exploitation and abuse? A game that isn't full of microtransactions? A game for fun, not for profit.
Price is not value. You should be looking at market cap and compare it to a relevant benchmark such as the sp 500 or against competitors. I don't see why youtubers talk about stocks and just look at price as if it's a deep analysis
I enjoyed farcry 3, that game have a soul. It prompts me to return and play it again. I haven't played many other ubisoft games other than assassin creed franchise. Now the enthusiasm is not there. Dying
I never really felt like Ubisoft stacked up when it compared to other publishers, like they weren't aggregious enough compared to Activision and EA. They weren't creative like Nintendo or Capcom. Hell, Square Enix got funny bad games, Ubisoft was always just a thing.
Watch Dogs 2 was a very good game, it was single player with a creative story and only had some MTX with a season pass. It had a shot to be a mainstay for Ubi. The next game after it, Watch Dogs Legion, was soulless with a horrible story and they tried to shoehorn AC elements into which didn’t fit. It didn’t help that Legion was made by a completely different team than Watch Dogs 1&2. Legion had potential if it stuck to what worked in 2, but alas I think the AC bleed in will only increase if they ever make another WD game 😢
Ubisoft was an oddball publisher at first, being the console version of steam green light (though Armored Core and NMH did get recognized because of them) But now it’s the opposite problem. They make the same few franchises, and are working to erode any division other than plot, tone, and setting.
Ubishit got 50 offices across the globe. 20k employees. And in 2022 they managed to only release 4 games... Idk what are they even doing there. Drinking soy latte? Those games were: Roller champions (it got canceled pretty soon), Mario x rabbits, just dance and AC which could barely be called AC. Only one proper game while others are irrelevant to 97% of the players
Oh dear god,on paper that may sound like a good idea but in excursion, public domain has it’s pros and cons. Best bet is they’re ip’s get inherited by a company that isn’t primary influenced by greed which honestly is very difficult
This videos really puts things into perspective. I was a fan of Ubisoft's games since like the early R6/GR/SC era and then AC/FC/TD were equally as good for the modern times but the evident shift for the worse they displayed around 5 years ago is when I stopped supporting them. They stated filling all their games with RPG elements, in games stores and really insanely bloated worlds. They have good ideas but the greed always prevents them from making another AC2/4 or FC2/3.
man i miss when big companies 1-2 decades ago released a ton of big amazing games but now we only get 1999 sequels of the same thing and there's rarely a good project
The problem with stock value is kinda the same problem movie studios have. Most investors don't actually understand the industry or know anything about it. All they understand is return on investment. So as long as a company is making money they will invest even if the company is burning their reputation and IP to make that money. They will keep investing until the company inevitably stops making money.
Then they will sell their stock and the stock price will sink. All of this can be based on convincing, predictions and emotional decision making, nothing to do with the realities of creating and selling good games, only making money.
@@cattysplat yes they will sell their stock. But only after the IP have been burned to the ground. Large investors. Specially hedge funds. Are like locusts devouring everything of value before moving on to the next company leaving only barren fields in their wake.
And that is why no entity that is beholden to shareholders will ever be consistent in making good, quality works of art; Even products in general are questionable.
Dunno where Ubisoft is gonna go but I'd like them to be assimilated or something, they clearly do not function as a company anymore, my friends and I have a phrase to describe mid to low games with no purpose but to waste time, "Oh another Ubisoft game" that does not talk good of them but it is true, I frankly just go like ewwgh whenever I see a modern tittle from them and refuse to play it altogether.
I used to be a big fan of Far Cry and Assassins Creed. Ubisoft ran both of them into the ground. That, along with company leadership being a bunch of weird creeps, is why I haven’t given Ubisoft a single cent in years.
Ubisoft truly made unique games. Games that couldn’t be replaced in my heart. Like assassins creed and the division. For me though For honor was the most unique games I ever played. And it sucks the game had to be made and kept under Ubisoft as they made so many poor choices leading to the game killing itself more everyday. It’s my definition of great idea but poorly executed
it actually is....they should have dropped the new beyond good and evil...rayman....but they flopped from watchdogs legion...i was so excited for that game especially online...bruh....i fell asleep in the 1st 3 mins when i played online
Live services are among the most profitable games there are but companies forget 1 thing: live services games arent profitable because they are live service, they are good games at the core that can capitalize on being live service.
I actually have a relative working on XDefiant right now. He’s actively developing the game on the team. I think his biggest frustration is that, since it’s free to play, it’s going to need to be filled with micro transactions. But I’ve heard how the development process is, and how the relationship with the beta testers is, and I’m cautiously optimistic about it.
i find it so funny that every gametuber talks about how bad or bland the current state of games are, even critics talk down on these games. Yet time and time again these projects do millions of dollars. making great games arent required from buyers and these companies know it
I wonder what they're going to do, because as much fun I have talking how many bad decisions Ubisoft makes, I don't want to actually see them die lol. As low as they are now, they were pivotal for the industry, once upon a time. Idk it is hard to see a "Capcom comeback" from them, because Capcom actually has interesting IPs, imo Ubisoft don't atm, and the ones that are (Prince of Persia or Splinter Cell) don't seem they can turn around the companies situation. assuming they come out lol.
There are some good IPs at Ubi, but for whatever reason they've been suspended for a long time. I think their turnaround could look similar to EA if they tried. EA still has some BS coming out of their corner, they still have the awful yearly sports games, they still have microtransactions, but they're also winning back people's favor with EA Originals, Dead Space, recent Star Wars stuff, etc. In an ideal world everything they put out would be quality, but everyone knows EA also wants to siphon as much money from their customers as possible. At least one thing they seem to be understanding now though is that you can't do that if you HAVE no customers, so to retain interest they've been re-establishing their quality, single player, less lucrative but more beloved franchises/games. Ubisoft doesn't seem to be going that direction though, it looks like either youre a big marketplace-filled live service game or you're cancelled over there. That seems like a pretty bone headed move, but I guess we'll see if they can somehow pull it through
Hey all I’m gonna say is Watchdogs 2 and Farcry 5 were actually good games that were really overlooked, some of the only new good games to come out of Ubi. If anyone wants to give either a try I’d say WD2 is an actually really good game, and FC5 is just so stupid it’s fun, especially with friends, totally recommend.
Im glad, ubisoft has only had old assassins creed and rayman that i like. Everything else hasn't interested me and even now assassins creed is very different and its not my thing and they barely put out a rayman game every decade. So tbh if unisoft dies then i dont realy care
Man. Ubi can go. Just please don’t shut down The Division 1&2😂😂😂I think that, oddly enough, The Division is probably one of the most consistently good games they’ve ever had and no one talks about it!! 😂😂😂😂
Hey a tip, using stock price can be deceiving due to the number of shares changing, rather using market capitalisation, which better reflects the value of the company. In a way ubisoft has not been able to add any value for the past 20 years really. But nice video.
I used to play basically exclusively Ubisoft games, in particular I’ve put in about 800hrs into Odyssey, something I have never done for another game. Since I hated Valhalla and WD Legion, I’ve been playing other new games coming out and I’ve had some of the best experiences ever in gaming just these past few years. If Mirage is yet another glorified storefront with a mediocre game attached, I won’t be buying into it
i dont think maintsteam heavily investor influenced corporate organization structure is sustainable on the long run for products of some artistic value like games. To be a long lasting game company you definetly need a studio that knows exactly whcih artistic and development path they will walk and in which all employees are comfortable working together for several years, like Fromsoft, whose dudes have worked with each for almost decade. Its simply a clash between the nature of sector and methodology of companies in it.
The sad part about Ubisoft is they don't understand WHY the microtransaction strategy is working for some of their games. They think that the microtransaction itself is magic and prints money without taking a moment to consider that the reason why AC Valhalla made $1 billion was because AC is a massive 15+ year-old franchise with a lot of consumer goodwill behind. To put it simply: Assassin's Creed didn't make $1 billion because of the microtransactions, the microtransactions made $1 billion because of Assassin's Creed. To prove my point, look at all the new IP live service titles that are dying. Rumbleverse, Knockout City, the list is practically endless. Then also look at something like Multiversus which is built upon established IP, yet is constantly plagued by low player counts (less than 1,000 a day) and is drowning in rumors of an impending shutdown announcement.
They once made games that made me want to spend my hard earned cash to play them. Now, they don't. Skip the attempt at hype with fake "leaks" and create something worth investing in. Make quality and people will buy it. It's not difficult.
I almost wonder what would happen if a company like Sony decided to buy out Ubisoft and replace all the dickheads running the company. I imagine something like that won't happen, either because Sony has no interest or judging from the trouble Microsoft is having getting Activision they probably don't want the problems it'll bring. But, it's something to think about at least. Somebody's gotta do something or else Ubisoft is truly going to go under. And that's not even discussing what would happen to their IPs.
Another thing to note is that I think a lot of the smaller/more unique ubi titles don't perform because anyone interested in them probably thinks "ew, Ubisoft. They're going to throw MTX in there." And most ubi fans will think "that's not assassins creed or farcry so I don't care." This company is already dead imo, it's kinda sad but I'm also in the minority that think FC3 was a step down from 2, and that AC1-3 titles were pretty mediocre at best. Interesting stories but repetitive gameplay that doesn't evolve as the games go on.
Good. Maybe this will help Ubisoft trim the fat in their company and push to make some actually-unique titles for once rather than an infinite number of "open-world shooter" reskins. Alternatively, if they can't turn their fortunes around, then maybe whoever buys their IP will be able to make something great with it.
You forgot about The Crew Motorfest their new racing game if they will ever release it, yes I'm not even thinking about delays, I'm already concerned about the release of the games with every Ubisnooze/ubicaps title
I can't help but feel like Motorfest is gonna be a downgrade compared to The Crew 1 and 2, given that Motorfest is gonna take place in a 1:1 recreation of the Hawaiian island of Oahu, whereas the first two The Crew games took place in (a condensed version of) the whole USA. The whole country vs. one island in a collection off the coast of California. That just inherently feels multiple times smaller. Not to mention people will constantly compare it to Test Drive Unlimited (a game that also took place on a 1:1 recreation of Oahu) and because The Crew Motorfest will have an in-universe racing festival called Motorfest, I can already see people dismissing the game as a Forza Horizon clone.
@@rodracer4567 yeah same thoughts, Ubishit is so disconnected from their customers. I feel like this is also a downgrade by being a smaller map compared to the first few games even though they used the same map and also tdu and forza clone / identity crisis won't help them either. They could have used either whole South America map that could have been interesting for me at least and idk another game who has a bigger map out of all racing titles. Or they could have used the same TC2 map and added Canada and Mexico to it. Although kids were crying about the same reused map for TC2 already. I wonder if it will be next gen game or limited by old gen support which would ruin it even more
@Oliver Queen Knowing more about the current state of Ubisoft makes me see the decision to change Motorfest from an expansion DLC for The Crew 2 into a full separate "sequel" game in a different light. Also it seems that Motorfest will indeed be held back by last gen since you can sign up for the closed beta for PS4. You can imagine my disappointment as I was hoping for a game in a condensed version of Europe.
One would say, as consumers we are to blame. If a company is making bland remakes, with microtransactions and it's making more money than ever, they will continue until we stop buying.
