You forgot they caught a American sub off Syria . I think around 2018 correct me if I am wrong. The sub had a huge displacement based on the info from the military spokesman. Most likely a us sub. They chased it out of the the area of operation.

Great Report! I have always been concerned about the use of Aluminum on our warships. Fires like the Belknap and Bon Homme Richard compared survivability of the Burkes with their steel hulls should open eyes. The sinking of the Moskva and the explosion and fire on the on the Zakharov point obviously to issues with fire suppression, damage control and possible design flaws in Soviet ship building.

The 3S14 UKSK VLS installed on the Marshal Shaposhnikov does not only shoot anti-ship and land attack cruise missiles, but also anti-submarine rocket assisted torpedoes. The latter weapon is the 91R1 or 91RT2 "Otvet" (Response in English). The UKSK VLS can be loaded with whatever combination of weapons.
@NeuroScientician
@NeuroScientician 2 года назад
Has any of it ever worked?
@jamesmandahl444
@jamesmandahl444 2 года назад
@85Damix yeah the otvet "answer" asw missile is extremely dangerous as it has long legs and is supersonic, so it can drop a torpedo on the last known bearing of a submarine within minutes. Three or four otvet missiles can drop as many torpedoes in the predicted path of a sub fast enough to sink it. The key is actually detecting the subs at those ranges. Alone with only a couple escorts this is pretty low probability but with a larger fleet, subs are in particularly serious danger.

Love the ship and sub briefs! One thing that didn't make a lot of sense to me before and does now is the time spent in dry dock by a lot of Russian naval vessels. Essentially, it is the result of rampant corruption. The capability of Russia and, in the past the U.S.S.R., to design effective weapons systems and platforms is there but that capability is severely hampered by their inability to maintain control of materiel or funds once either has left the manufacturer or Moscow, respectively. That is playing out now as soldiers go to depots to pick up materiel and find that it isn't where it supposed to be because it was sold or has been replaced with fakes or the funds were diverted and the materiel never actually purchased.
@SteelheadCrusher
@SteelheadCrusher 2 года назад
The more realistic explanation is that their defense budget is 10% of that of the US and can't afford to keep these expensive ships operational but doesn't want to decommision them.

udaloys are such fine looking ships i don't understand marhsal shaposhnikov's refit it gives it newer anti ship missles but it doesn't replace the old sam vls cells it just kinda feels like a half refit if they were to replace the ak 630 with Kortik and the 64 older vls with newer vls that can quad pack Sam's the refit is an improvement for sure but it just feels like a half refit to me

We are just going to need more Cutters, few years back or so, we did an order for around 90 or something like that, period that stretches over to how many are being replaced, I don't know, but there was a few or so, I would consider attack craft and not your normal coast guard ship, and I like that. Everyone forgets in Real War Navy takes all the Cool Coast Gaurd Ships, so the Numbers of our Combat Craft, are probably a 100 More Cutter to even some Frigates more than you think...
@WWeronko
@WWeronko 2 года назад
When discussing warships some of the factors that need to be emphasized is numbers, sensors and command and control. The Udaloys are 30 something year old ships few and number and though upgraded probably are not survivable in a modern war. There are only 5 Udaloys in commission and three in extended overhaul. Considering the enormous sea coast of Russia this is nowhere near enough to fulfil their wartime mission. They all were built around the same time as the Slava Class cruisers and probably have the same old electronics and computer systems. It is doubtful they'd sense a modern sea skimming anti-ship missile or be able to engage it. Russian warships all look armed to the teeth and visually very impressive. Like most Russian weapons, however, I don't think in war they'd be much more than juicy targets.
@jamesmandahl444
@jamesmandahl444 2 года назад
Non upgraded ships yes I'd have to agree. The issue is thry only have one of these upgraded to most modern standards. Thry are meant for blue water asw work and require anti air umbrella like jive Turkey said. Dont underestimate ruskies. Their designs are good the question is how many can be built or renovated in time.

@jamesmandahl444
@jamesmandahl444 2 года назад
The new uksk launches are largely for the anti sub missiles which drop torpedoes in the expected zone of convergence. The otvet is good because of it's long legs and its supersonic speed. Meaning it only requires minutes to drop its torpedo which will give it much better accuracy.

The Udaloy-class destroyers have never been appreciated by the US Navy since their inception due to the obsolescence of the sonar they carry as well as the noise generated by the Udaloy's hull. Even after being upgraded, they are still not appreciated by the US navies and allies as much as the new generation of PLAN destroyers, as they retain their deadly outdated radar and electronic equipment. The lesson on the cruiser Moskva made this clear. Are you just reading out from a Russian propaganda leaflet, or does any of those systems work to specification? I mean, Moskva was an untouchable floating fortress capable of mass murdering stealth jets. Same with the feared S400 in Ukraine, seems to be mostly decorative too. So are Russian planes. I mean, how do you tell Russian's 'like to have' and what they actually have and maintain?

"I mean, Moskva was an untouchable floating fortress capable of mass murdering stealth jets". You are the first person to claim such things. Moskva (formerly Slava) was the oldest and less capable of the 3 Slava-class cruisers ever built. Contrary to her older sister, the Marshal Ustinov, which has been modernized in the mid-2010, and the last cruiser, the Varyag, which has been built from the start up to a slightly more modern and efficient standard, the Moskva didn't get any meaningful modernization since she was commissioned in 1982, 40 years ago. Moskva was thus essentially late '70 technologies. At that time, stealth wasn't such a thing and the Slava were never designed to deal with that kind of threat, neither to bee an "untouchable floating fortress". These ships were more affordable option than the hugely more effective but more pricey Kirov nuclear cruisers.

@@jamesmandahl444 It looks like we seriously overvalued Russian capabilities. Before the hilarious fiasco in Ukraine happen. I would give this video the benefit of the doubt. Because who knows, right? But, seeing Russians fail, the most elementary things. It's just not believable.
