In this video, we're going to apply the knowledge we've gained from our previous tutorials on the Modeling Toolkit to create a simple outdoor CCTV camera. We'll begin by examining some reference images, then use the power of polygroups and modifiers to model a straightforward asset entirely from scratch in Unreal Engine. Let's get started!

However UE5 is not a modeling tool, but its Amazing and more smoother than most of Today Modeling tools! Well Done

It's amazing how unreal gives users the most archaic modelling methods while keeping a perfect viewport viz.

This is exactly the video I was just thinking about needing after watching your 2 part intro to the 5.4 modeling tools! Very glad I subbed -- didn't even have to search for the vid, it just popped up. Can't wait to watch, cheers :)

Great video! I'm really excited to see how Unreal develops in terms of modeling. It's amazing that completely new subject areas are integrated with an simple update such as the new texture graph in 5.4. Maybe one day we won't have to leave UE anymore. I hate having to use multiple programs for one project. xD

Its amazing to see a high level artist like you going for UE more, i have been diving in it too but was afraid i would waste my energy learning new tools, what is your opinion on rigging in UE. What workflow should a begginer follow, what plugins speed up the proccess, your reply is appreciated.
@sarkamari
@sarkamari 4 месяца назад
Modular rigging in UE 5.4 is pretty incredible and easy to use. But if you wish to use rigs from other apps you need to change your workflow dramatically. I guess the question I ask is what your end goal is? If the answer is animation then exporting animation into unreal is a lot easier to learn. You work with procedural rig from scratch in Unreal when you interact with Metahumans (most of the time)

Nice! Even during 5.2 I was mostly using already the modeling tools for most simple to intermediate modeling needs as I am also a basic blender user. I love to use cubegrid to make walls and partition, then boolean it with a proxy mesh that is similar in size with my BP door or windows, or even just placing the BP door in the wall, then project the cubegrid along its edges to cut the wall. But this would require me to remesh it with the foundational edges intact (lots of settings OEM, UE standard, ect) as the boolean operations adds a lot of geometry which I want to remove for simple geometry like walls. I hope you could please make more of this kind of videos especially doing the UV, material assigning, remeshing walls, tangents, normals. Another request would be to make a room or building or apartment for the walls, large props using the modelling tools like cube grid, etc. UE UV packing reminds me of using UV packmaster of blender. hehe. Thanks

Sounds like a great idea. I am keen to demo more stuff. I am also working full time so keeping up with these videos is a bit of struggle 😂

They need important non destructive modifiers like Subdivisions, Symetry, booleans, bevel etc. without needing to use scripts. Not sure how many are willing to learn this new kinda tedious and awkward modeling workflow even for simple modeling

This is FASCINATING how i do everything exaclty how you did, and i can't get this to work or have the same result. You might have overstepped some things

How odd. I started to work and pressed record. I donthink I jumped any step in the video.what part you stuck if you don't mind asking

Perhaps model in a greyscale environment and cast some shadows from the model. The black limbo is a bit of a void and inhibits seeing the "underbelly" of the model. But thank you for your work and share.

Absolutely right. I should have kept the lights I often do these tuts in one take. In real life you have the luxury of going back and forth. Oh well. We got there eventually 😂

And what about character modeling? I have a fully rigged base mesh that I use in Blender. Do you think I can use it with Unreal's modeling tools like I do in Blender? For me Meta Humans is a no go !

Not really. Although it’s a personal choice but Id use this plugin mainly for hard surfaces models for now

Hello is ue5 modeling tools capable enough to model more complex shapes like for instance a helicopter or even corridors or smth like that
@sarkamari
@sarkamari 4 месяца назад
It really depends on how much detail you want to add to a prop. Hard surface models are generally manageable without needing advanced sculpting or baking, and it's also excellent for creating environments. However, the plugin significantly falls short when it comes to organic modeling, such as human figures.
