My shenanigans continue!
In the process to learn to use UE5, I attempted to have the Wolverine fully playable. Took longer to go through tutorials than to implement it. The shiny silver version is an untextured high resolution 3.5 million triangle mesh using nanite.
I may or may not take this further in the future. Perhaps a small demo level where there are a few noddies to shoot at.

It looks epic, basically true combat evolution of C&C:2´s Wolverine. This is how Steel Talons Wolverine should have looked like in C&C:3 (although to be honest, thats what i think about all vehicles that were shown in Renegade X alphas).

Thanks! Yeah I wanted to make it feel bad ass even when its simply moving around. Really wanted to sell the power fantasy of piloting a giant robot.

All I can say, is wow, wow, woooowwwww!!! Absolutely fantastic work! It is so cool to finally see ultra highly detailed graphics with super high res textures and realistic bounce lighting like in CGi but now playable in a fucking video game, but it is even cooler to see it all in action! There are tons of really great videos showing off scenes and maps in UE5 all over RU-vid but it is so refreshing to see it live with actual gameplay. You did a fantastic job, the smoke effects and lasers look so real, and even the lighting from jet pack flares on his back look incredible and real! There are a few things that could obviously use some work, like making the incredible looking smoke/dust effects last longer and not disperse so quickly, clipping from moving with the jet pack or having some of the rocks physically crumble(which I believe is fully possible with Nanite as of now), but other than that I couldn’t tell this any different from an actual AAA demo from a company! 👏👏👏❤️

Beautiful recreation to the original, plus some extras. Beyond that your sound design and the weight of the machine is on point. That rotary cannon slaps! So... I'm trying to learn some similar approaches to UE5. You wouldn't happen to have a playlist that breaks this down would you, orrrr perhaps I could offer some concept art for some private lessons 😅

The movement needs to be smoothed out a bit since it looks pretty jerky, but this bad boy is pretty amazing. Imagine being a pilot in this thing during the Tub wars... Crazy cool, keep up the good work!

Thanks, and yeah there is definitely a level of nostalgia you get from the original design. I talked about why the wolverine's design was altered in the first DevTalk video specifically. Which also relates to why some other unit designs were also changed. @@WaqasI Thank you for your kind reply, your render is stil awesome and i can see it tie to the mechanical movement of the current technology of us humans now. and make it more "realistic" in the sense of able to aim/shoot/move at current elevation of terrain. But what makes me a bit hesitant is with all the extra options to the wolverine like rockets and jetpacks. But then again it might make sense since wolverine was a front-line unit and GDI had jumpjet tech. anyways I cant wait to play the game! brings back so much memories and when life was a LOT simpeler

Regular mech are good But highly mobile, small and more grounded mechs are just the best.

Yeah I feel like smaller mechs should be nimble and agile, and the bigger more powerhouse mechs like Titans would be the more slow moving heavy hitter.

Hello love the work but I have a question if you don't mind. I have been trying to wrap my head around making nanite meshes for a hot minute and I cannot for the life of me figure out a good solution for uv unwrapping. So may I ask you you uv unwrapped your mesh because anything over 1 mil triangles and blender doesn't like it when I unwrap. Thank you!

Hi thanks, As per UVing, its difficult to say. If you have a hard surface model with correct topology then you basically UV before sub dividing. However if you have something that is already sub-divided, then you may be able to UV it in something like Zbrush which can already handle high resolution meshes. I haven't used blender so I cant say how to UV it in blender. Most software should allow you to at least define seams and auto flatten those areas.

I am trying to un wrap a organic style of sculpt so I think I am going to try and split it into different parts, UV them, then join them back and stitch the uvs back together. Since Zbrush isn't an option for me. That is what I am thinking currently a bit convoluted but it might work.

Awesome... but can i lay down some suggestions for this? How about an option to switch out armaments like Anti-tank, missile launchers, flamers, etc. altho call it overpowered non lore friendly... just suggesting... but this is fps and the possibilities could be endless...

Definitely! I had some similar ideas as well which as you said isn't necessarily lore friendly but the idea of being able to swap/mount weapons from any other vehicle would be a pretty fun game play mechanic. For instance taking out a light tank and swapping one of your vulcans for the cannon. Its absolutely something I had in mind as well and I might try something like that out eventually.
