I personally think they didn't get better than in 2008. Maybe because people still did not know how to deal with Tiki Taka. Their football in the 2010 World Cup was not as good and neither was the Euro of 2012, even when player by player I think they had a better squad. Just go watch the second half of the semifinals against Russia in 2008, it was like watching ballet.
@@higochumbo8932 well, it was the beginning and they dominated more in 2008 as it was a surprise. Anyway, the 4-0 final against Italy was as good as that semifinal.

Spain as well as Barcelona was unstoppable from 2008 to 2012 thanks to their midfielders who were the best in the world. Their midfielders became old and their game is too predictable, everybody knows their tiki taka game now. It stopped working after the euro 2012 but they kept playing the same way. World cup 2018, Spain knocked out against Russia, France wins the world cup. France has had a better team since 2014. And now it really is showing its results. France has better players overall. Look at the players on the field, the players on the bench and the players who aren't selected but who could also be selected. This generation has just too much talent at every position.
What you are describing of France was also said of Spain after this tournament and also Germany after Brazil 2014. You're right, Spain and Germany's top players aged/retired and they didn't change their tactics, so they were eventually picked apart by other nations. But even if France has an abundance of young talent, they're not dead favourites to win the next Euros/WC. Suppose some key players are injured (see France in the 2002 WC), and they keep doing the same thing strategically. They could still easily go the same way as Spain and Germany, although I doubt they drop out in the group stages, maybe R16 or something, but that's just a worst case scenario. Deschamps is a brilliant coach, so he might already be thinking ahead, which might not have been the case with del Bosque and Low. Maybe I'm just being cynical, France could well continue to win titles with the talent they have. In the future, I'd like to see Zidane succeed Deschamps, he'd know how to lead and motivate the players.
@@Pastas666 To be fair, it's been suggested that France's defeat to the Netherlands (I assume that's what you're referring to) was the result of what's been called a 'post-World Cup hangover', they will probably still bounce back in qualifying for the Euros, I'm sure they'll manage that at least. But I'm a fan of the French national team, so I'll be happy if they prosper again.
Don't compare teams who really don't lookalike. this spain will be remembered for their "barça" possession style.... Brazil 1970, Netherlands 1974 or Hungary 1950 didn't play this brand of football. They were playing total football.

However, in this boring match (Spain v France), they were so cautious - especially France - that they've forgot to be competitive. So, Spain was passing the ball around the entire match and France didn't respond. Spain got the lead, they didn't respond. It was a very dull match indeed. France didn't fight at all and Spain was as boring as usual.
What the hell was going there with the empty seats??? We saw it a lot in that euro in a lot of games plenty of empty seats. Tody, in germany euro 2024 there is not even one singular empty seat in the games.

Remember this game the team came under tremendous criticism for being boring as they kept the ball after the first goal and just kept on passing to each other . As if the other team not pressing and instead waiting for the counter is their mistake . This was after what Chelsea did to Barcelona when they just parked the bus and hit on the counter to win . Del bosque would have none of that , put that extra holding midfielder in xabi Alonso along with busquets and made sure no one scores on a counter attack and just eke out the winning goal when necessary .

Roberto Moreno yes but France is more regular than Spain. Before 2010 the best spanish ranking in a WC was quarter final. Since 2012 La Roja is eliminated too early in international competition. It’s strange as Spain has one of best championship in the World. France has 5 final during 22 last years and won 3. But I like the spanish team.
