every and any bass player that plays a big fat Thunderbird and slings it way low like that does so because of Pete Way. period. GOAT. and i'm a drummer, we're supposed to know these things
Brilliant that the intro is SAHB's Faith Healer, one of the greatest songs ever. Of course, Chris Glen and Ted McKenna of SAHB were MSGs rhythm section.
I'm gonna say I agree .saw the tour farewell in Indiana a couple years ago . I dint get why the rolling stones are so popular and there not . After seeing them both hearing Phil lyrics and micks . I must be confused but hands down better is ufo.
This was the year that Michael had another mental 'meltdown'. At the Edge nightclub in Palo Alto, he walked out during the middle of 'Venus'..caused a near riot in the packed club!
Pete fuckin rock n roller Way!! I went to see their shows in Nagoya and Tokyo back in 1998, Though they ended up with only 7 songs at the first night out of supposed to be 3 shows in a row in Tokyo...
UFO should've been a lot bigger than what they were. Too bad Schenker left them, imo MSG couldn't capture what he did with UFO. They needed each other.
I saw that tour also in South bend Indiana. We grew up in the best of times. Remember FM radio and album rock. I can't speak for the rest of the world but musically . We had it all .
I kinda think Michael was just going through the motions during this period. He's been reborn and is better now than he's ever been. Pete Way was always the best live bass player ever.
I think Micheal is back if anyone dosent agree watch him play live at hellfest 2022 .Rock bottom is off the charts great. You can tell he cares about playing again more than ever .
Are you sure that is Micheal Schenker ? I have seen him up close for the past 3 years hear in Corona at M15 and he never screwed up the solo to Natural Thing that bad. It is one of the most simple solo's he does. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y_DCnGlO_A4.html
Didn’t think it was Schenker as whoever it is played the opening to Natural Thing completely different to the way Michael plays it. Just watch MSG live at Rockpalast from ‘81 (I think).
@@davidhildebrand6836 Michael was kicked out of the band by Moog in 1979 I also thought that Moog punched Michael and they still to this day have not buried the hatchet so for this to be Michael I seriously doubt it !! Plus some of the guitar lead parts are definitely not Schenker !!
@@davidday8417Майкл сам ушел ,, и не в 79, а в 78. И да, он часто импровизирует одно и то же соло.То, как он играет и стоит на сцене- невозможно ни с кем перепутать!
It is funny how far off some of these comments are... true Schenker fans know Schenkers hair is dyed black here as a sort of sign of mourning due to his father passing away.I saw Schenker at the Edge night club, Palo Alto Ca. 1998?( UFO played there two nights) I was in the audience front row in front of where Schenkers Marshalls were and a guy next to me told me 'Schenker stormed off stage last night hope it doesn't happen tonight' apparently the problem was the stage monitor mix was so bad Schenker couldn't hear himself properly. I noticed Schenkers attention was on the guy doing the stage mix on the side of the stage. Whatever happened the night before it got ironed out, it was a killer show! Schenker would point his Flying V headstock out towards the audience and then move it from side to side and the audience would move their hands above their heads sort of like the wave in which ever direction Schenker moved his Vs headstock. It was pretty dramatic, the amount of power Schenker seemed to have over the audience .The whole band was firing on all cylinders.
So are you doubting my FANDOM because it A) doesnt look like him.. Or B) because he cant play the lead to Natural Thing thats simplistic?!?! BIG ASSUMPTION ON YOUR PART!!!
I was at this show, very excited to see the Schenker line-up having only discovered UFO during the Tonka period. It was a big disappointment, Schenker wasn't on form at all, looked like he was off his head on something (hair dye?), Mogg forgot the words in Lights Out and sang 'I don't know what's going on' in the chorus. Seen them several times since with Vinnie Moore and they were far better (as well as being better previously with Toka, I saw that line-up twice)
Max Carr That was his "I'm truly out of my mind" phase. I saw it in LA and he was still scary good. As you know now, he's better than ever. Happy, healthy, and LOVES being on stage.
Thx Chitownbluesy!! Woooe Hey!! So he died his hair BLACK to show that he IS truly out O' his frikin'mind..WOW! Saw them supporting live up in Tulsa Oklahoma. They were sandwiched between.. Max Webster.. opening UFO.. RUSH.. & Ted Nugent Only caught tail end of the Max Lobster's but caught everything else. Man watta line-up!! Ted the Sledge had to really work to get the audience riled!!!
Max Carr Yup. My first UFO show was them opening for Foghat at The Aragon Ballroom in Chicago in '75. RUSH and Molly Hatchet opened up a bunch of times for UFO then. I was at the Strangers show on Friday the 13th, October, 1978, with a backstage pass! Talk about a GREAT SHOW!!! Michael has been my favorite guitarist since that 1st time and after 80+ shows, I still go every single time he comes to LA. Peace.
Very cool chitownbluesy!! Only seen him (them) the one time. Yes, during the Strangers tour. They didn't get any air play here in Tulsa or Oklahoma. But I've been inthralled with Michael from get go. When I first bought UFO Force It upon release. Following him up until the McCauley Schenker Groups second release. Simply didn't care for McCauley. I liked all the previous MSG vocalist up until him..even Graham Bonnet! I was hoping he would have stayed. Did or have you read why MS left UFO? I recently read he left because Phil Moog punched him!! Lol
Max Carr His latest release is with 4 of the MSG vocalists from Gary Barden, Bonnet, McCauley, and his last guy, Doogie White. They're all on the Resurrection album. He's got his old standbys from The Sensational Alex Harvey Band Ted McKenna and Chris Glen, as well as Steve Mann playing rhythm guitar. Each vocalist does a song or two and they're all together on two tracks. He's even got Kirk Hammett, who's a HUGE Schenker fan, as a guest on one track. They trade off and I just read a really cool interview with Michael and he was saying that Kirk sounded a lot like him when he did Lonesome Crow! Kirk's vibrato reminded him of it. Crazy, huh? Michael is still jamming better than ever. If you can find it, buy The Odd Trio. Michael played everything on it. He's even dressed as a woman. But the album is BRILLIANT! His playing was absolutely fantastic and it's from 2000. That was his instrumental phase, with the acoustic and electric guitar oriented, no vocal albums. He has an impressive and eclectic array of music in his discography. Peace.
That is NOT Michael Schenker behind the V the solos are way off and this guy is trying SO hard to pretend he is Schenker not buying it! Michael is super smooth and effortless when he plays this guy is trying SO hard to get it right not even close and Michael always looks at the crowd while playing this guys is head down. Fake!
You are so wrong about everything you said,, google for more info about this show before you jump into conclusions, why would I post a fake Michael on my page? & are they at least 4 complete DVD shows from that year , about his black hair, he dye his hair as a tribute to his father that had passed away ..
