My father as a young man lived next to the kagames in Kampala , he always talks about how Janet Kagame is a very nice lady , who always took time to say hello to everyone , and he always says kagames son is a very sharp boy who of cos was very young back then but used to play with my rather older cousins so they know him pretty well ! After Janet Kagame would invite the all kids for lunch and serve them a feast! It is rather sad Fred died that early , he really fought well for my country Uganda , it's just tragic that he didn't get to reach the promised land but Kudos to afande Kagame for carrying on the fight and liberating Rwanda , proud of you guys and yes my late mother was rwandese(God bless her soul), so I feel a sense of pride seeing what he has done with the country. Ohh and one of my late uncle's served under afande Kagame in the Ugandan army , so we have had top stories about how much of a great leader he is ! I am half Ugandan half rwandese , our families for generations are forever connected , Uganda and Rwanda will forever be one ! ❤

Not all ethnic groups are patrilineal either, some are matrilineal & others bilineal. Nationality on the other hand is a legal issue. That is why a country made up almost exclusively of immigrants like the USA, the children born there are Americans and those not born there can naturalise etc. Uganda and Rwanda like all the post colonial countries are political constructs. You can have dual nationality if the law of the land permits.

And always remember the sacrifice of many Rwandan youth exiles who perished fighting to bring Museveni to power and later fought Alice Lakwena's forces! If it weren't for Rwigema, Museveni would've been killed by Obote's forces, according to Mama Janet Museveni's book.
It is better than a corporation for what he has achieved and continues to aspire to do for the country. The foundation built in Rwanda will stand the test of time. The citizens of Rwanda have their interests clearly defined. and I hope well understood.
I have a strong feeling that the brave courageous late Rwigyema (RIP) would have a very different story. I'm so sorry we lost him too soon. He was a loss to both Uganda and Rwanda, many of us Ugandans will always mourn him.

This is a great clarification. Many mistakenly believe that Museveni was involved in planning the RPFs invasion of Rwanda. Now we know that he was a restraining factor. He preferred negotiation first and force as a last resort.

President Paul Kagame's revelations show that if it wasn't for Uganda, Rwanda wouldn't have had Paul Kagame as its liberator. If Fred Rwegima, didn’t refuse to go for a course in the USA and later killed in the steiggle, Kagame wouldn't have been recalled from the USA by President Yoweri Museveni to fight and win the war in Rwanda. I think you misunderstood him or maybe he didnot elaborate well but it is not that H.E Museveni didnot want them to liberate their country but he wanted to first make sure that they are ready for it. So sending them for further studies was one to improve on the skills,and also having enough time to build the army on ground and they start when they are sure they are okay. But well,he didnot elaborate it well here. We are one!!!!
@MubaleEmmanuel the Rwandan hero Rwigema did not go to train in mozambique but rather to fight for Mozabique liberation along his good friend Samora Machel,when you are fighting your life is exposed to death that is not training but you gain more experience the more battles you fight,so the hero Rwigema did not go to train in mozambique ,he fought for Mozambique.he trained in tanzania,he also fought for Uganda,but the way kagame is behind the death of Rwigema the hero and so is museveni,after the death of major Rwigema,it was museveni who made kagame the leader of the rpf army by force because the higher leaders of the army refused to have kagame as their leaders,even Rwigema did not put kagame as his successor,there was a succession Rwigema made in case he passes away but museveni did not honor that because he had a hidden agenda with kagame that alone links museveni to Rwigema's death,but for kagame it is very certain he indeed organized the killing of Rwigema,and it said by Rwigema close friends that he did not want kagame to be present during the battle because he suspected his behaviour but couldn't kill him as that was never the character of Rwigema so he had him get sent abroad instead without knowing the guy would later get him killed and replace him.

Watch the video of Kampala take over by NRA forces in Jan 1986, Late Gen Rwigema was riding and stood in the very first tank that entered the city as commander of the force! He later called Museveni to come and swear in as president!
If it wasn't for Uganda's assistance in training the RPF, sending of humanitarian aid and troops to Rwanda, the rwandan genocide wouldn't have stoped. Another thing, Uganda was a place of refuge and home to those who had lost their homes and livelihoods in Rwanda.
Rwandans need to recognize that Uganda has been their second home. Since 1950s, Uganda has been there for them throughout all there political challenges.
The way Rwandese got recruited and want Ugandans to accept them as brothers, can they return the favor by recruiting Ugandans in their own army and promote them to high ranks?

I have known paul since i was a kid. And also known the late Rwigema. I can tell you now, kagame is masking the truth. He mentions 4 soldiers, other than Fred, who was a maj.Gen. Paul,chris and Bahingana were all majors. You had col's Kanyarengwe and col.Adam wasswa. Funny how he chose to skip talking about them in preparation of the war. They were higher in rank and well liked. Why skip them? Is he scared they might ask of how say col.Adam wasswa died?

I have a problem of that narrative of Rwigyema been sent to America. That could be a well organized cover-up by Kagame of how He died and who killed him. The truyh will come out one day
In my opinion Paul kagame has too many good stories to tell about his life during pre and post Genocide. We can learn a lot from him and get the other side of the story about kagame. Such stories will by and large neutralize the venom spit by kagame critics who once said he set up a plan to kill Fred Rwigyema using some cells in Rwigyema's inner. Through this story given by paul Kagame you may be tempted to believe that he was an innocent man and could not in any way kill his loyal friend and they are telling lies
