More info 👇 Ugh, getting rejected from a job you really wanted/thought you were a good fit for is one of the worst feelings 😩 🙁 We’ve all been there. It’s important you know that it might’ve had nothing to do with you and you might’ve actually been a great fit. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out 😭 🗓️ BUT - it’s just one job and one time. Who knows? Maybe next month there will be a new opening! 🌟 Fun fact: I got rejected from an internship at Nat Geo in college & then got hired 4 years later to creatively lead, design & produce their TikTok account. 🚫👉🛣️ A rejection is simply redirection. If the company can’t see that you’re a wonderful hire, that’s a them problem. Or maybe their hands were tied! 🖥️ Regardless, you need to send a response to their rejection email. Something short and sweet: “Thank you so much for letting me know. While I am very disappointed, I want you to know that I enjoyed meeting the team and learning more about a career at [company]. [optional: ask for feedback, although they may not be allowed/have the time to give it, it shows self-awareness and confidence] I hope our paths cross again very soon and I wish you all the best moving forward. Thank you! [Your name]” 🔵 Get an auto rejection from a do-not-reply email? Connect with them on LinkedIn (all the people who interviewed you) and press “add note” before you send it. You got this!!! 👏

Erin, 100% agree responding to rejection email. But so many companies are sending it via no-reply@

What do you do when you’re rejected not once but twice? There was a company that reached back out after the first rejection to interview me again only to subsequently reject me AGAIN. I took that pretty hard because I interviewed well both times per the hiring managers. I wanted to reach out to inquire as to why they passed me up for a second time but my husband told me not to.

Thing is alot of the rejection responses, nowadays, are automated from do not reply emails so we cant really send an email back or stay in contact (besides waiting and reapplying) especially if the application is on a employment website of the companies career website where the dashboard is either looking at your application status or what documents youve uploaded, This is for most common jobs today.

10 years ago I took a temp position with a company & applied for the permanent role when it was posted. I was rejected & had to train the person they hired. I was devastated, but stayed professional. My boss there was so impressed that she stayed in contact, searched for other openings, and gave me a high recommendation when I interviewed for 3 other roles. A few weeks later I was offered 2 different jobs at that company. It's been almost 10 years, I've tried out a few roles there, and that initial boss selected me as her replacement when she retired this year. It won't be this way everywhere, but staying calm, explaining your passion for that company, & being professional in the face of rejection really can impress people and help you find a different job at a company.

Responding to rejection emails is the best idea, After I got rejected from my dream job, they sent me an email saying that they decided to move to other candidates, so I just sent an email thanking them for giving me the opportunity to take a part in the hiring process. One month later they replied to the email with an offer of a position that they didn't even put it in the hiring page on the company's website, after applying to it they accepted me and I am working with them now. 🎉🎉

worst thin than that, is to never get a rejection letter or email and figure it out yourself cause excessive time has passed. or even, realizing the position is still open and they actually didn't want YOU
@asadb1990
@asadb1990 11 месяцев назад
I had that happen with 2 former employers. First one i stayed for over 3 years only to be laid off during covid. They assured me i was eligible for rehire. I then joined a new company and worked for them for almost 2 years. And then i joined another employer who laid me off after 6 months right before the holidays. The red flag was when they hired 3 people after me for same position. I was looking for a while. Then i apply first to former employer and then the previous employer. But they didn't respond beyond the hr screening. Like you like me when i worked for you i was an excellent employee but don't want to even consider me for rehire. The last employer i quit, i understand. But the previous employer that laid me off needed to be more professional and do an official interview.
@NeversurrenderMM66
@NeversurrenderMM66 9 месяцев назад
@asadboy1990 maybe they considered you over qualified or out of their budget's price range? It seems too many companies would rather flounder with new, untrained employees rather than rehire someone and pay them their worth. Also, there may have been a change in management or procedures and they don't want someone that would do the work the way it used to be done. They might assume you're untrainable. Whichever, it sucks.
@asadb1990
@asadb1990 9 месяцев назад
@NeversurrenderMM66 its more of the former where im much more qualified to ask for more pay, but they are probably unwilling to pay my worth. Also, i feel it's because the same people in management still work there and are not willing to give me a chance again. The first employer i found only really cares about their upper management employees only. They will pamper them and give them full autonamy and flexibility. Meanwhile, the lower level employees are considered disposable.

I just had this exact thing happen to me. I interviewed for a position last fall and got all the way thought the process before getting rejected. I applied for a job a few months ago and it was a two interview process. After the first interview I was called back for the second, where they basically asked the same questions again and gave me a scenario that could occur in the job and how I would respond. I thought I did very well and they said they had a couple more interviews the next day and would let me know after. Well, the next day I had a call back pretty early to be told that it wasn’t me, the other people (there were two positions) were just more qualified. It still makes me wonder why they asked me back for a second interview in the first place if that was their reasoning and they could make that decision so quickly

The worst is when they don't outright reject you, they just ghost you instead. I've always super respected any company who was willing to tell me I didn't get the job. They don't have to say why (though I love it when they do because it gives me more closure), but just letting me know so that I'm not being strung along is so helpful. I've told companies "best of luck with your new hire and I hope you'll think of me when/if you have another position for which I might be a good fit." I never hold it against the employer for not hiring me. But I definitely hold it against them when they ghost me.

I love how you start with "throw yourself a pity party". I need to sulk/grieve a disappointment before I can move on/regroup/problem solve. Thank you for this. I completely got ghosted by the company my mom has worked at for over 20 years. It was very weird. I was 3 rounds in. During my last interview, I was introduced to everyone in the department. They were communicating frequently with me and even apologized for taking two business days to contact me again. After meeting everyone, I never heard from them again. I should have known when the HR person who screened me was subtly warning me about this happening. She told me to continue applying to positions regardless of what happened and to not get discouraged. It was very nice of her to say that, especially because it was her literal last day working there.

I got rejected from a job I really wanted once. It was an office position at the gym I went to. I could tell the hiring manager loooooved me and wanted to give me the job, but they had an internal applicant who was understandably more qualified for the position. Hiring manager asked to keep my resume if any positions opened up in the future, I said of course. Got offered a part-time position there literally like 6 weeks later - it wasn't the same role and it was only like 2 shifts/week, but it opened the door for me to a really interesting, rewarding career. You learn how to deal with disappointment,you learn how to work with people, even frustrating ones, and you learn how to sell yourself and be professional, even at a young age. I wish there were other ways to see if someone is the candidate an employer would like to have as part of their team, instead of the common interview process most companies use. Especially the whole panel type. I consider myself to be terrible at interviews. Regardless of how much I practice! Some of the questions asked don’t even seem “answerable” in a sincere natural way. And just like me, I’m sure there are many other people. It’s just unfortunate because these type of candidates are often overlooked when they’re probably a more dedicated, loyal, hard working person.

We’re ALREADY HOOKED when YOU pop up in a short. You have our attention. Every little bit of it. 😉 Good skits, good edits, GREAT advice, people skills and follow through. You got this! 🙌🏼👍🏼👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The hired internally always gets me. My first job out of college, hiring manager told me I did everything I could control perfectly, but there was a “more perfect” hire because they had been internal 8 years and had same traits.

This is how I got hired once. They rejected me because COVID hit and they pulled back all the offers. But boy, 4 months later they came back when they opened back to hire me. One of the best professional experiences I've had with them through the entire time I was working for them.

That's a good idea, I applied to my current company 3 times before I got in. Sometimes they just have a lot of applicants

I currently work in a particular sector - the first job I had in the sector I initially didn't get - the interview was the day after a family member had a very serious surgery. Anyways I was offered the job 3 months later as that person left. The job had an element to it that was international and you had to have a certain experience outside of your own country. Which I had done overseas about 3 years prior in 4 different countries and the job was in my home country. They hired a foreign national who had done that experience in my home country - this person was a native of a country that they were particularly trying to attract clients from. I just did high school language classes in that language and lived in a different country that spoke that language -so I could speak a bit, but not well (its my third language to be fair) and this was not mentioned in the advert or interview, just what I learned afterwards. Moral of the story you have no idea what is important to them.

Last year I applied at a job and they literally dragged their feet for the interview for a month. Setting a date and then pushing it back. Then the day I’m supposed to go to the interview they called me and said they were sorry but they weren’t hiring right now. I really wanted this job and they needed people! Yet they just drug their feet and then told me they never needed me😂

I applied a handful of times for a company I’m still genuinely interested in working with one day. They hired internally each time. Eventually I ended up taking a job with a different company that has been a better fit for me where I’m at in life, but I always responded to the news that I wasn’t selected with professionalism and I strongly feel like the option will be there when/if the time is right.
