Hey Ugly Thirds crew! As a Flyers fan, I’m more than aware that a jersey change isn’t going to fix our many woes. But I have to say..I’ve never been a fan of our previous jerseys. Although there’s not too many changes, I really dig these a lot.
I’ve hated the brighter orange since the day it rolled out, though I did buy a Braydon Coburn at that game. They said the darker orange was the top request among season ticket holders. As a Flyers fan, I LOVE these. I think they are a perfect fit for the organization.
@@plots4 I can't say I've ever thought much about the shade of orange, it's all so PennDOT-y to me that it hasn't fazed me, but clearly that was a major issue that the team fixed. At least they got that part right.
As a Flyers fan, I actually quite like these jerseys. I never liked the 60s throwbacks that they have been using for the past decade or so. The more I look at the new ones the more I like them. They are simple and i do wish they had the black line, but they still look good. Cant stand the 3rd jersey. I wish they just made a black version of the new style with orange shoulders.
I dont mind the rebrand. However, this proves one thing about adidas and fanatics in my opinion: if teams are willing to "rebrand" this late into the adidas contract and it has already been said that fanatics will use the same factory as adidas for their shirts, it does not look like much will change regarsing the jerseys and therefore, the fuss created was sort of pointless. Just my opinion, but yeah..
It could be a relatively seamless transition for them. Our understanding is that it won't be until 2027-ish that Fanatics looks into new templates for teams. They're going to stay the course for the first few years to make sure they get it right.
FYI. They could only change the home and away. They couldn’t change the black one. At the STH event last night they told us they are working on a new black 3rd jersey.
@@uglythirds it’s gonna be like 04 black jerseys. Just like the new ones I’m sure. No piping on sleeves/base of the jersey. And it’ll be coming out when Fanatics takes over. And I’d expect a BRAND new stadium series design for this February. Didn’t say much more then that. They did exaggerate the fact they couldn’t make 3 brand new ones for this season. NHL wouldn’t allow I guess
Thanks for the scoop! If I had to bet, I'd say they'd do exactly what you just described. I wonder if they'll keep the stupid black numbers from the current third, make it all-black. They should have dropped the third, there's no reason for it to still exist. It did its job, let it die.
@@uglythirds agreed 100% ! Just excited they seem to be on the right path. It’s been a disaster. Lots of fans don’t see it like the STH’s do. The games when NYR and BOS fans take over the building is sickening and Snider has rolled over many times the past 5 yrs
The "new" black and orange alternative jersey scream tough Broad st Bully you got it all wrong but your right about the 90 jersey being the best that black line makes it pop
If they are going to dirty up their uniforms with some blue junk that doesn't belong, then they might as well come up with a different logo too. I am glad they kept the different colored nameplates. That's my favorite part of their look.
I am an avid flyers fan and attempting to collect one of ever flyers jersey through every generation. I will tell you I am not jumping at getting the current one. I really have enjoyed the winter classic ones and stadium series ones. I love the classics and even some of these interesting special edition ones (st patricks day, breast cancer awareness, and military). But I would much rather get these before the current one. I even like the 2024 stadium series one, but eventually I will get the currents, reluctantly!!
Now that we've seen them on ice all season, I genuinely think those one-color numbers make these the worst-looking jerseys the Flyers have ever worn, and that includes the RBK Edge era. It just looks so cheap and tacky
@@uglythirds fully agree, but I liked the rbk edge they were good ones and a lot of flyers fans enjoyed those. But yeah they could have maybe doubled the numbers. They claim it's a nod to the 60s-70s but whatever
I’m not a fan of those current black third jerseys on TV, but I have one with no name or number and it’s decent enough in real life without the weird number colouring. With their stadium series game coming up I imagine they’ll resurrect some iteration of the black jersey you pointed out here. As for the new jerseys, I think they’re better than the recent set in little ways. The orange is better, it’s a little bit of a bolder, cleaner look. But you’re right- I would have marketed this as an “update” or “refresh” instead of “hey wow we’re getting new jerseys!” Will I buy one? I won’t rush to get one, but it would be nice to add to my collection. Unless the add comes with it, in which case no chance I’m spending money on that.
I just came up with a prediction. The flyers will wear these jerseys for 2 or 3 years or so. They will finally get a #1 or #2 pick in like '25 or '26. Once they get a "can't miss" future star they will go full 90s look.
wow!! Well the 'design team' that came up with these new jerseys must be completely exhausted after all of their hard work, it must have taken them SO long to think of a slightly darker shade of orange and a slightly different template resurrected from the 1990's. yawn......
The only thing I would change is obviously add a outline on the numbers I don’t like numbers without a outline the two teams that it works for are Red Wings and Leafs
The original blood orange jersey from the 60's, 70's and early 80's was the best. Hard to believe the Flyers have become so irrelevant but that's what happens when the team sucks and the organization goes corporate WOKE.
Flyers fans like myself were sick of the dayglo orange. The return to burnt orange is sigh of relief. Yes, it's not a major overhaul, but that's fine! I wish they would've dropped the alt colored nameplate on the back, though. The solid colored numbers on the sleeve are starting to look cool to me.
We're starting to learn that a slightly darker shade of orange goes a long way with the franchise fanbase. Great nostalgia from the burnt orange era. We can see why.
I don't know why people say that. It won't make any difference what color it is. No amount of lipstick is going to make that pig magically look better.
Hey Guys, Another great video. As a Philadelphia resident and a Flyers fan, We haven't had good uniforms since 2007 except a couple special uniforms.(Reverse Retro & Winter Classics) I wasn't a fan of the previous uniforms, but these might be just as bad. These new uniforms could be so much better with a couple tweaks. Why is there no outline on the sleeve numbers, it looks very strange to me. I'm also just not a fan of the different color nameplates. It is very distracting and looks bad in my opinion. I thought what they did with Reverse Retro 1 was very good and they should have just made that the new primary jersey. The black jersey sucked before and only got worse with the addition of the ad. Overall I am quite disappointed with the uniforms and I still am.
It looks better than the highlighter orange but they should have just gone full 80s/90s. The sleeves look weird without the black trim, the numbers on the sleeve look bad, and the nameplate thing has been played out at this point. It was novel in 2008 when they brought it back but feels dumb now.
