Thank you so much for tracing back your root Ugo. I’m 56 years old and I have one mixed race son. I have never been to Nigeria since I left 36 years ago. But watching this documentary UGO, I cried and realized I have to go back to Nigeria and bring my Son with me. Thank you so much for reminding all us of where we came from and how great Nigeria is. God bless you richly Ugo Giannis Adetokunbo.

As a Greek American Giannis is cheered on in my family as an incredible player , person and of course we refer to him as the Greek freak. So wonderful to experience his story and showcase the beauty of Nigeria and his roots. I'm so happy for UGO and his mom that they did this together. Thank you for sharing your story. God bless

In Greece we were able to stand out from everybody else. In US we were able to stand out, but when you come here (Nigeria), you understand why you feel the way you feel, why you move the way you move" Welcome home Legend❤

I'm so proud to be a Nigerian.. no wonder I watch him everytime I'm on RU-vid.. The connection is there because we are Nigerians 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬 I'm so proud to be a Nigerian, so tough, fearless, confident and giving up is never in our vocabulary. Same way I left my Village down to Abuja without Knowing anyone, we were so many in the streets and we Hussle everyday untill God heard our cries. Though, l we are still Husling but i thank God for being better than I was Yesterday.

10:04 I am literally crying as I can relate. When we came home (Nigeria) last year, my dad decided that we celebrate our mum's 50th birthday with her family and friends before returning back. During the party they had that appreciation where one just says something about the celebrant. I didn't want to talk before because I would cry and I wasn't about to cry Infront of everyone. I later decided to speak on how she has made so much sacrifices for me and my siblings to be where we are today and before I could even finish speaking, I began to cry. My parents really tried for my siblings and I. As a Nigerian, one thing I know is Our parents! Nigerian parents are really hardworking and amazing people.:))

Nigerian people are a beautiful people, so much promise, so resilient and tenacious. I'm Kenyan and I got to learn more about the backbone of the true identity of a true Nigerian and I share in the pride of being a fellow African who shares so much of their attributes.. We only need to make better decisions in choosing our leaders so we have have them open doors for more if not all of the kids and youths with so much passion and talent in our own countries and continents so that we can become pioneers of legendary activities and sports and become a continent to be emulated.

I live in Vienna and have three Kids that all bear Igbo first names and not because I am a tribalist but because it is part of who they are and because we Igbos have this say that goes like this: „Onye ma ebe o si, anaghi efu uzo” or he who knows where he is from, never misses road! When you own who you are, nothing can stop you from where you are going because you know who you are. I am a big fan of mixed cultures because, it only makes us richer adding to what we already have. His story is quite interesting and will resonate with a lot of people with multi cultural backgrounds. Like myself who was born in Ghana, grew up in Ghana and the U.S.A, but with roots in Nigeria. Sometimes you see yourself torn between many cultures and not really knowing where you fit in, especially with all the tribal bigotry going on in Nigeria.

I was taken away from Tiv lands as a child and didn't return for 25 years when I was a young man. Very similar story from people calling me by my real name, Terhemen, to people telling stories of how my father and mother used to be before they left. I grew up in Hawaii and ultimately played American football which allowed me to study in California state using scholarship. I decided to get out of that sport as it is very dangerous and ultimately turned away professional contracts. I have been a practicing structural engineer for 22 years in California State and have been building my agriculture business in Benue State for the last 15 years. Heavy respect to this young man and all Nigerians who have a similar story. Once we get the governance piece in place, we will slowly all return home and in doing so, return to grace as the true African giants that we are. Love to all of West Africa as well as the East, South and our Arab brothers to North.

Very happy for Mama Veronica and Giannis Ugo - thank you for sharing this powerful story of the family, hustle, resilience and for the encouragement to search for one's roots. I am counting my blessings having lived in Greece for years, speaking the language, and now in London most of my amazing church community in Deptford is Nigerian, we have everything here: fish pepper soup (oh yes was I sweaty too eating it the very first time!), jolloff rice, market, anyone can have a beautiful African dress made on the high street too - no wahala😎! I've followed Giannis from Toronto in 2015 after he did the slam dunk contest against Victor Oladipo and Lavine. I would tell my fellow NBA enthusiasts that he's Nigerian and the last name was just spelt different. First thing that struck me was his humility so i researched him some more. i found out other info eg: Ugo being his nigerian name, having an elder brother back home, being half igbo/yoruba etc. Happy to see him fully representing his mixed ethnicities. 😎
