The UK Freight Train hotspot, 16 Freight trains photographed on a visit to the Drax Power Station line, the day started photographing a GBRf Class 60 and GBRf Class 66 on the GBRf Biomass trains close to Knottingley, before moving on towards Drax Branch Junction at Heck for DB Class 66 on more Biomass freight trains. A lunchtime trip to the Drax Branch catching more class 60 and Class 66 locomotives on Biomass Trains over the River Aire bridge, this was after catching a class 66 freight train on the lightly used Goole to Snaith line.
Enjoy the 16 freights through the day and my accompanying railway photography.

@@AndrewShenton I'm quite lucky really, I sometimes get to spend my breaks next to the lines watching the coming and goings. I've loved diesel engines since I was a boy when I used to watch the Tilcon trains go past the back of our house in Skipton on their way up to Swinden Quarry on what I believe used to be the old Grassington line. There are some fantastic views up that way. As kids we used to walk along the track as far as we could, often for miles. There weren't many trains on that particular line in those days. This was late 70s/early 80s, I don't think you'd get away with it now... Happy days.

Just found your site Andrew; very interesting and informative. I especially like the way you combine the video with the photo. My favourite here is the Cl.66 at 07:20; the tractor balances the shot very well and adds a human element to the proceedings.

Thanks Peter, the purpose of the channel is to get a behind the scenes look at my railway photography, so I’m pleased you’ve enjoyed it. Yes, that tractor, for the video I was hoping for a bit more peace and quiet, but it did get into an idea position as the train arrived. I though Ferrybridge power station had been decommissioned? Yet there's a gypsum train to Ferrybridge? How many biomass trains run per day to drax?
@AndrewShenton
@AndrewShenton 3 года назад
Thanks Derek, yes the coal fired Ferrybridge PS has been decommissioned, the train to Ferrybridge was an inbound Gypsum train, there’s actually a Plasterboard Factory on the Ferrybridge site. As for the number of Biomass trains into Drax, I don’t know, but as a casual observer it seems to vary day to day, although the day of my visit was particularly busy with trains in from Immingham, Hull, Tyne dock and Liverpool.
