The hardest part about this video is that the voices don't sync up with the video and since I can't recognize anyone by their voice, I don't know who is talking at any moment. Otherwise, as usual excellent fun.

Ah, I remember this one. Mastermind is the one minion that I firmly believe should shun Lunatics irrespective of the chances to get them voting with evil. The less hints Good has about a Mastermind being in play or the Mastermind player being evil the better.

I would love to see a game with a lunatic and a poppy grower! If they interact the way I am hoping, the lunatic would have no knowledge of the minions, but the demon would still be aware of the lunatic and their choices? This seems like the only situation where the lunatic might actually be fooled (apart from games where minions are unable to speak with their demon, as I've seen some groups - particularly in-person ones - don't really allow whispers). Or does the lunatic still learn minions even in a poppy grower game? ("The poppy grower prevents the EVIL players from knowing who each other are" - that phrasing might spoil my fun lol)

Yep, your first idea is how it would play out - with both a Poppy Grower and a Lunatic in play, the demon would learn who the Lunatic is but would not learn who their minions are. Where it gets *really* interesting is that whether the Poppy Grower is in play or not doesn't affect what the Lunatic gets told. If a Poppy Grower is in play, you can still wake a Lunatic up and give them false information about who their "minions" are. If a Poppy Grower is on the script, but not in play, you can choose not to give the Lunatic any "minion" info, simulating, for them, that a Poppy Grower is in play. Essentially, any information a Storyteller can give to a Lunatic to simulate them being the real demon is permitted.

I have a question: I play with around 7-8 players (not including ST), we just started and have been playing trouble brewing. I noticed that the evil team wins most games. At around 1:12:00 he says that good usually wins. Is it easier for evil to win in smaller games? how can the ST balance this? Is there a better addition for a smaller group?

You'll find that, as your players get more experienced, good will start to win more often. Evil MASSIVELY benefits from your players' lack of game knowledge right now, but that'll soon change as they get more familiar with it. If you want to balance things out then don't forget that you don't have to show drunk or poisoned players false info. Drunk or poisoned players can't affect the game state (they can't kill, resurrect etc.) but they can still get legit info. - Ben (the guy running the game)

FYI team, there might be an issue with the ads. I have had 3 ad breaks in the first 25 mins which is rather disrupting. I haven’t had that on other videos of yours. Can’t wait to get the final product (and the ability to meet up in large groups)!

I am curious about the Shabaloth's ability. If they attack dead minions is there a change they might be regurgitated? And does that mean they are revived? Why wouldn't the town notice a dead player is suddenly alive?

If the Shabaloth targets a player who is already dead, then that player might be resurrected by the Storyteller the next night. It doesn't need to be a minion - it can be any player. The Shabaloth may try to target a dead minion to bring their ability back into the game, or they may target a dead Townsfolk to help solidify a Professor bluff. Attempting to bringing minions back this way is risky, as it gives strong evidence that a Shabaloth is the demon in play. The Shabaloth has to decide whether giving this information to the town is worth getting that minion back. As for the dead player coming back to life, the Storyteller always announces when this happens and it's usually a big deal.

Question - when everyone is drunk by the Minstrel, should Kristian not then no longer think he is the demon? Because that is your ability, so shouldn't it malfunction?

For the rare roles that don't know their own role and/or alignment (the Drunk, Lunatic, and Marionette), they aren't woken to learn their true nature if they become drunk or poisoned. Players aren't woken each night to learn their role/alignment, they are only notified when one of these things *changes*, so the same is true of roles that start the game being told they are something other than what they are (due to their ability). - Evin

The current almanac specifically says the player chosen by the Moonchild (if good) dies when the Moonchild acts at night. The night order (from the script tool) has the Moonchild acting after the Lunatic and all the demons. Is what happened in this game a new ruling on the Moonchild that will be reflected in a revised almanac?

Hey Louis, I'm not sure I fully understand the question. The Moonchild 'acting' at night after the demon(s) and the Lunatic is simply the time at night when the effect of their ability plays out, based on the choice they made during the preceding day phase. The Moonchild 'acting' (i.e. killing a player or not) at this point at this point is still consistent with them killing, at night, the player they chose if that player is good. - Evin

@@BloodontheClocktower In the video, Ben and Edd say the Moonchild death happens at the beginning of night phase, but the github tool says it happens much later. I think we're just wondering which is correct.

@@BloodontheClocktower Yeah, what Raptor said. In the video, the Moonchild was executed and chose the Lunatic. The Lunatic then died, did not choose players to "attack", and the demon did not learn of any Lunatic targets. My understanding of the night order from the almanac/script tool is that the Moonchild's effect should trigger after the Lunatic/Demon, and thus the Lunatic should have chosen targets. Ultimately, this discrepancy had no real impact in this particular game, as the Lunatic was fairly certain they were good. I just want to make sure I understand this interaction completely when I storytell BMR.

Ah, totally fair then. As it currently stands on the night sheet, the Moonchild death 'action' occurs later in the night, after the demons act. There is planned language in the rulebook to allow for some Storyteller flexibility for when night actions take place if there are unusual circumstances, but generally this is when the Moonchild death will be slated to occur. - Evin

Why does the story teller tell the demon about the lunatic? Is that part of the game? Or just discretion?

Part of the Lunatic's ability is that the demon always knows who they are and who they attack. This helps the demon play along with the illusion if they want to - it allows them to not kill the Lunatic at night and to attack the same targets as the Lunatic. - Evin

With the Lunatic and the demon, is it possible for the Lunatic to think there is a Lunatic in the game? For example, in this game, as you are treating Kristian as a Demon, could you tell him that someone else, say, Caley, is actually a Lunatic? Therefore, could the demon, who has been told there is a Lunatic, be the Lunatic themselves?

This has been a discussion through a lot of play-testing, and it was decided that a Lunatic could be shown that *they* had a (fake) Lunatic. The value in the Lunatic is in them having sincerely believe that they're the demon, or at least to have sincere doubt that they're the Lunatic. If the Lunatic is robbed of the experience of having their own "Lunatic", then that's something that demons/lunatics could use to deduce their own true nature. So, yes - a Lunatic can be shown a Lunatic and be the Lunatic themselves. :)

The problem I see with telling a Lunatic that they have their own Lunatic is, you also end up telling them who that Lunatic murdered. And since there’s a certain incentive for a Demon to kill the same people the Lunatic tried to kill, it seems to me you could easily end up in a situation where the Storyteller picks someone, the Lunatic picks that same someone, the Demon then picks that same someone - and now effectively the Storyteller is choosing who dies at night, instead of the players. If you’re doing this, I think you would have to regularly throw a wrench in things by noting down who you told the Lunatic their minions were, and then telling the real-Lunatic that the fake-Lunatic tried to kill one of the real-Lunatic’s (fake) minions, so they feel they have to choose someone else. You do still run the risk that the real-Lunatic decides that maintaining the fake-Lunatic’s illusion is more important than saving minions - especially if they’re hoping their minions will be regurgitated later - but since their fake-minions are likely mostly good players anyway, it’s not the end of the world if they “go along” with the fake-Lunatic’s (i.e. Storyteller’s) “decision”.

Wisq There’s nothing stopping you telling the Lunatic that their Lunatic thinks he’s a demon that doesn’t always kill. The Lunatic can think he’s a Shabbaloth, and think their lunatic is a Pukka. Or, better yet, make it a Zombul. They barely get a chance to kill and minimise the impact on the Lunatic.

Very late to the video but could Law have played into Kristin's Lunatic kills N2 by killing himself to try for a Mastermind win the next day when people were likely willing to still execute to gain information?

This would have been an interesting move if it was possible, but the Mastermind only activates of the demon dies by execution. A Shabaloth targeting themselves would have ended the game. Where you do sometimes see this, however, is in the Sects & Violets edition. If the Evil Twin is in play, the demon will sometimes target themselves at night, and then campaign for *any* player to be executed the next day. When there are no more night-kills after that next execution, it makes that executed good player look very much like the demon, which is misinformation that can lead the town to executing the wrong twin.

@@hcshenoyyou can see all the cottages because you're following the Storyteller who has an admin role in the channel. They players can't see any of the other cottages or who's in them. It's actually quite intense sitting for what seems an eternity for the Storyteller to arrive.

Drunk players can't have any effect on the state of the game board. While you may give them correct info if you like, they are unable to kill/resurrect/change alignments etc. - Ben
