Those of you who don't listen to country this is what is known as blood harmony. Blood Harmony is when someone harmonizes with a blood relative, Its a special sound. But here its between two exceptional singers who are not related. Very, very, very rare and special.

The harmony is another very successful country singer, Patty Loveless. She is one of my favorites! I love her vocal tone. She and Vince have collabed on several songs. 🙂

Pretty harmonies. This to me is the definition of a country ballad. Very simple slow waltz but it has all the elements. Steel guitar, sad lyrics, and that country piano! I swear that it actually sounds like the person who tuned that thing was sad when they tuned it. Anyways. I first heard this song while stationed in Germany in 1990. I swear to Christ that I think it actually broke my heart when I heard it. 19 years old, 5000 miles from home. I sat there alone in my barracks room with a pack of smokes and a fifth of of beam and just kept playing it again and again.
