Kondor DCS Yes, RU-vid has come around re: hunting videos in the last year or so. If your video has a purpose, it will likely not be removed - regardless of anti-hunting "flag campaigns". Without that slow-motion footage, I would not have been able to properly demonstrate my point. That is why I left it in. Fingers crossed that RU-vid continues their current trend of sensibility.

Here in Sweden we have laws regulating that it has to be of a certain power to be allowed to hunt with. It has to be at least 5.5mm (.22) and and have a mussel velocity of at least 180 metres per second for you to be allowed to hunt with it, which is about 12 foot pounds or 16 joules, less than that and it's illegal and is possibly considered animal cruelty. But you can have it however powerful you want as long as it doesn't surpasses 150 joules because then you'll need a hunting/gun licence. But we are also one of the most gun friendly countries in Europe, even though that's like being the best looking guy in the burns unit.

So why shops are only selling 4.5mm in 200m/s, 5.5 138m/s and 6.35 in 127m/s ? All of these are 10J ( 8ft/lbs). Everything above requires licence to buy and to own. Looks like you need to review your gun laws :)

@MDM1992
@MDM1992 2 года назад
@@mariusvo1839 I can only imagine it's the same bullshit as here in the UK, you can buy, own, and use plenty of real guns and very high power air rifles and buy them over the counter, but and there's a big but, you first need to own enough land or know someone who does, you need to have basically never been in any debt or had a policeman speak to you at any point in your life, and even then one head firearms officer has to come.around your home regularly to check your gun cabinet etc for safety, and if that one firearms officer, doesn't like the look of you in any way, he will refuse it, so while all these guns are technically obtainable, basically nobody fits the criteria, and even when they do, a lot still get refused.. you need that governmental permission to begin with and the government are completely against firearms and high powered air guns soo.. yeah lol.

I understand why the UK has its gun laws, and we can get 30ft/lb rifles, just need a license. The other issue with the UK there are almost no places to actually go shooting, unless you are lucky and have a farm who gives you permission. That leaves gun clubs. Nearly every gun club for air rifles is limited to 12lb/ft rifles. Because as you correctly state they need no license and are legal in UK. But people in the UK are missing a golden opportunity, if all the shooters in the UK paid £300, basc alone has over 140,000 members if every one paid 300, we could buy woodland to the value of £42,000,000 With an average woods costing 90K if we grouped together we could make public shooting areas all over the country, and buy dozens of farmland access too.

UK Gun laws have been constantly eroded since the beginning of last century. Since the tragic 1987 Hungerford and 1996 Dunblane massacres, have seen automatic rifles and pistols - BANNED, 2007 - VCRA Act came out banning sales of Air guns by mail order, to be bought only from RF Dealers and the power to be restricted to 12ft/Ib energy for unlicenced Air guns. Also Airsoft RIF guns banned without UKARA membership. Now Scottish govt Kenny MacAskill pushing for licencing for all airguns and 'plinking' in your garden to be banned. So you see, a constant erosion of our freedom to shooting in the UK is ongoing. What's next, Airsoft banned, catapults banned?, elastic bands? toy guns?...

Some speak of the problems, but never had any with them. Already had theoben but are big and very heavy and difficult to carry over long distances. Right now I'm really enjoying the kalibr too! But always with 30ft energy. unfortunately we can not post videos because hunting is illegal and frowned upon by environmentalists.We ran great danger of being prosecuted. But believe me guys, here the animals are large, the distances are huge and fun is guaranteed. A shame not to share with you.

I'm sure the only reason why they haven't started banning kitchen knives is because there's too many of them for such a law to be any use.

I have noticed the same thing shooting my .22 cal springer at 11.2 ft.lbs vs my .25 cal PCP Condor or Marauder at over 30 ft.lbs. The squirrels just don't go down with the springer with a slightly misplaced neck or head shot. The .25 PCP never fails to drop them. However, problem with the "big" gun is the lack of edible meat left in the doves I shoot (got to work on Dove head shots I guess). I just realized something; here is my dispute against those who say "what you do is wrong": Hunting is barbaric and at the same time, natural. We therefore needed to be barbaric to have survived and thrived. Have you seen how predators kill their prey in the wild? Sure, we humans are an intelligent and civilized (race/species?) but we still kill game (the animals we hunt; be it for food or because they are pests etc.) faster and more humanely by using rifles than if we were to use spears or gnash their jugulars out with our teeth etc.
@wingmanalive

It amazes me when I see people posting about how cruel it is to kill fury animals like rabbits and squirrels. This while they snack on a white castle burger made from beef. Humans are carnivores people, vegetarians by choice. You blindly want to criticize how some hunt yet still savor the flavor of your burger and breakfast sausage. Hunting is as old as civilization. Deal with it. You want to save an innocent life? Start by voting republican and keep law abiding Americans safe and not by removing their 2nd amendment rights!

I don't mind hunting if its for meat or if there is a problem animal that needs to be put down. A few rabbits or some fat squirrels do quite well in some recipes I've tried. I do get irritated with killing wildlife that you don't intend to consume, however. But, his land, his rules and if its all legal (it is) then he's welcome to go about his business. I just don't have to like it, and I can post what I want to about it. May the gods bless America.

First, I've never known a healthy vegan. Second, darn right I'd eat those rabbits. Rabbit is leaner and healthier than beef. Tender most of the time too, except Jack Rabbits. They need to be cooked in the crock pot or pressure cooker. I lived on Chipmunks for a month. Nothing else around to eat. They can be tough roasted on a camp fire. Unless you're one of those unhealthy vegans, don't bitch about hunters until you give up your store bought meat.

Po Tato He actually explained why he doesn't use .22LR all the time in a few vids. He likes to use the air rifle because it either doesn't pass through, or it does, but it deflects off whatever it happens to hit, where as a bullet would keep going and potentially cause damage or injury. Plus, .22LR makes noise, and his rifles are dead quiet.

While I certainly recognize the contribution of companies like Webley & Scott, BSA, Air Arms, Daystate, etc The Germans also deserve a good deal of credit for the accurate sporting air rifles we enjoy so much. Companies like Diana(RWS to us Americans) which started building airguns around 1890 Weihrauch(with the HW35 in 1955) - That I'm aware of and IMO, The HW35 would be the first, "highly" accurate, medium power by todays standard, sporting air rifle(pellet) Feinwerkbau - With the FWB-124 in the 70's took the combination of power and accuracy to a whole new level. >I read about the 124 in Mel Tappan's "Survival Guns/1979" and found one NIB at the next gun show I attended. Yep, still have the rifle. Robert Beeman(American) deserves a great deal of credit. It was his idea(around 1980 if memory serves) to build a more powerful air rifle for the American market. It was his computer designed R1 executed to perfection by the Weihrauch company. Which popularize airgunning in the USA. I believe the R1 is generally recognized as the first "1000fps" air rifle. My apology if any of the "facts" above are inaccurate or incorrect. This is all from memory and mine is not so great anymore. I enjoy your videos, you're an excellent spokesman for the sport of airgunning.

Nice video Ted, very informative too. Its amazing to see how effective a 30 ftlb gun is compared to a 12 ftlb one, those bunny shots at different powers where very interesting I have never seen a comparison like that before, nice. its a pitty we have such tight laws here as I know many pests must suffer as a consequence of a misplaced shot, even the wind blows shot of the mark so even a good shot might miss, it takes years of experiance to get that perfect shot and those years taken to be spot on means suffering for little critters. Now I am off to cry after seeing how beautiful it is there with the log cabins and all as I sit here in frosty old England :-( Nice job Ted ;-)

Brian Cochrane Believe me, there are a LOT more responsible people out here hunting freely than there are people being shot by irresponsible officers. Yes, it bothers us a lot, but if you look at what happens in those instances verses how many people police pull-over every day, those instances are extremely minimal. And even then, of the few people who do get shot usually trigger it by doing something stupid (reach for something, stick hands in pockets, stuff drugs under seats, etc). I'd still rather have the freedoms we have than what the English have to deal with. And honestly, I think we're heading in the same direction. Just a matter of time.

It is not good to be limited to 12 Ft Lbs in our Air Rifles, but we get by and yes, we do have to take more care to ensure that we get a head shot on even small pests, but we still take them down, it just takes a little more time and requires a little more accuracy. There is no right or wrong between the two methods of shooting so long as we all remember to ensure that the shot that we are about to take is a humane one and will not cause any suffering at all.

Doesn't make sense that in the UK they need a firearm license for a airrifle. A airrifle is not a firearm a firearm by definition is a weapon that uses a ignition system (primer) to ignite a propellent ( black powder or equivalent) to force a projectile down range.

I live in the UK and america are always saying that are guns are for pussies but it doesn't matter how powerful or how light or how expensive the gun is it all comes down to how you use the gun. You could have the best gun in the world but if you don't know how to use it it's about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. But on the other hand you could have an old worn out piece of shit that couldn't hit a barn door never mind a rabbit but if the person has the knowledge and experience then that gun can be a better weapon. Re!ever a workman is only as good as his tools.

james birdsall This is 100% true. Its how you use the firearm. However, 15 foot pounds of energy is not a lot of wiggle room. I can and have hit deer across farmfields from 1,000 yards (over 900 meters) away with my PTR-91. I would be totally incapable of hunting large game with anything short of a 22 LR. But yes, its how you use a firearm that matters. A man with serious training under his belt is more effective with a Ruger 10/22 than a mall ninja with an M60 medium machinegun.

james birdsall Well the media hypes that way out of proportion. In America you are 10 times more likely to die falling out of bed than being shot in a mass shooting. Lightning kills more people in American than rifles. Literally. I honestly dont think its a real issue because the rates are statistically immeasurable. Most murders are committed by repeat felons, offenders, and gang bangers who were previously locked up. I think all high crime and homicide really results from poverty and economic disparity. If you exclude the impoverished in America from the crime rates then the USA would have a lower crime rate than Luxemburg.

Some good points, however I think you'll find what americans find as overzealous precision requirements from many UK air gun hunters has less to do with power than you think. It's more down to a pervasive anti gun and anti hunting culture in the UK and powerful and well funded animal rights activists etc. The fear that anything less than a perfect shot might draw the attention of anti hunters, and add to the case for banning more aspects of hunting and countryside pursuits. Theres certainly an element of physics and terminal ballistics but a lot of it is down to the culture theyre operating in over there, its not a pro hunting environment. For reference I am an English Airgun hunter having hunted in the UK extensively and now live and hunt in Wisconsin.

great vid, very informative to those that didnt realize the differences in air gun laws for US, UK and Canada... here in canada sub 12 foot pound (495 fps or less) are weakly regulated, but for more power an "FAC" is needed... so for me shot placement is everything, and i wont take a shot unless im sure ill hit a kill zone. but when i bought my .22 and went to tune it for more power, i realized i had bought an american air rifle from a canadian store because the restriction hole in the piston was absent like the US made air rifles. wish i had a chrony to test my fps after mods were made. it seems like i added twice the power to my rifle but i am unsure.

Been using a 12fpe gun for hunting since I was a little runt. Still use the same gun, a 1974 Sheridan Blue Streak. It will make about 11 to 12 fpe depending on the pellet. It will accurately place a pellet out to about 30 yards which is plenty fine for squirrels and cotton tails. I can't nail a bunny at 75yds but then I didn't pay thousands of dollars for my rifle either. I think my gun cost about 70 bucks in 1974.

Us Brits (we ain't euros!) Are allowed unlimited power and up to 50 cal BUT its only on a firearms certificate which is not a walk in the park to obtain, the checks include several visits to your home by the police before and after issue as well as very in depth background checks. You also have to have a valid reason for wanting the FAC air rifle, just wanting it is not a valid reason. For most, the grief of getting the license is more trouble than its worth so stick to low power rifles but it is possible for us to have over 12ft lb.
