Not Russian folk music, that’s only Ukrainian folk 😗

Fact: this group has got no producers of promoting companies, but they are first in Apple Music in Ukraine now and they have 400 thousand viewers of Shum at the first week. Also Shum is not the song they plan for Eurovision. They did not plan to include it in national selection, but all of their fans wanted this song on Eurovision, so they decided to include Shum in Vidbir. The music video and all of the stuff costs around 12 Euros and it was recorded on phone

Its like a Ukrainian folk song that was produced by The Prodigy, which was then remixed by Underworld. And to be honest, I'm loving it! Its really growing on me.

Shum - ancient Ukrainian spring dancing game, which consists of two stages: weaving and unweaving of Shum (witch also one of spring demigods, dedicated to plants growth). When Shum is "weaving", pairs of dancers staying in semicircle, one pair forming "gates" with their hands and all other pairs crossing the "gates". When last one passed, "gates" changed direction of pairs moving, this is called "unweaving" shum: "gates" pair creat new "gates" with opposites hands and all pairs crossing it again and game continues, but faster and faster. Songs, singing when shum continuously weaving and unweaving is one of vesniankas - Ukrainian folk songs, dedicated to Spring and Rebirth of Nature. So many of them about sift and winnow, because all grasses planting during warm spring days. Hemps and vinka - two of them. when I like the song on first listening- that's the song, and since I heard this one, do not stop listening to it...The more I research artist, the more I love it. Stay strong! You must have lots of enemies and a hard path... even if you do not win in Rotterdam, you win Eurosong in my room- and thank you for setting up a reminder to the rest of Europ what we are all about in our differences.

I'm kinda digging this. Loving that folk, pagan feel with a sense of 90s trance/dance. The video is like an embracing of darkness but a call for a better brighter day. It will interesting to see how the edit to three minutes will effect the song. I love that there is a slower pace that breaks into an energic finish. It almost defines the idea of emerging to better day. I totally agree with the Verka Serduska comparison because it is infectious in the best possible way. I always love quirkiness at eurovision and this song is also very Ukraine and representative of their musical culture and trends. This is a top 10 for me. I'm sure it's a contender to win because I am not sure this will garner enough interest from the majority but personally I dig it.

What top ten...this is absolutely fantastic. I'm in trance. Last year's song was quite scritchy borderline annoying but this year is art. Dark, mysterious. Definitely contender for the trophy. Ukraine never dissapoints. Always pioneers and in different league.

Welcome to pre-christian Ukraine with the spring songs and dances calling out on the nature to wake and and MAKE SOME NOISE - in the forest xDD I couldn't stay calm during this, if they don't win they at least have everyone get up and dance, it's nice. Loved Shum when it first got released a few weeks back , love the pace quickening, and the 'pause' in the middle before it all goes boom! just hope they can keep that 'flow' when they have to trim it to 3mins..., Glad you made a point of mentioning that Kateryna is a damn good singer ! Normally I'm blasting out their harder/faster tracks, but listen to their slower ones as well, and you can really appreciate the quality of her voice . Highlight of lockdown 2020 for me was watching their live streams and other performances.

Yes! This is really a good entry! It is focused on the pandemic witch makes it interesting and different at the same time. This song includes ukrainian folklore that is fine and I admire the ukrainian broadcaster for keeping the group Go_A to represent their country this year. Very good job. This actually describes ukrainian people and their roots and background. Congratulations for that!
