An interesting one, Japan sent a reported 6900 Type 88 helmets to Ukraine. So far I've only seen one picture of a Ukrainian soldier, Stanislav Bilyi wearing a Type 88.
I wonder if its legal, as Japan’s constitution states that no military equipment can be exported. I guess under Abe’s administration some of the laws have been eased to allow export of anything but firearms.
@@dannyzero692 The export of lethal weapons and ammunition owned by JSDF to other countries is prohibited under Article 116 of the Self-Defense Forces Law. However, this article permits the export of other equipment, and helmets fall into this category. On the other hand, apart from that, the "Three Principles on the Transfer of Defense Equipment," a guideline adopted by the government, comprehensively regulates the transfer of equipment to parties to a conflict. However, one of the conditions for a "Party to a Conflict" as defined by the guideline is "a country with which the UN Security Council is taking action," so technically, Ukraine is not a "Party to a Conflict,". So the government's position is that the export of the helmets does not deviate from the guideline. In any case, this is a guideline, not a law, so it is not illegal for the government to ignore that in the extreme.
I mean with ~700 000 Ukrainian soldiers and ~900 000 reservists 6900 helmets would be very rare to find so you won’t be suddenly seeing type 88 helmets in most pictures
When the PASGT came out it was noted for its resemblance to the Stahlhelm. The Generals stated that it’s purely coincidental. Based on engineering principles this design gives the most protection for the least weight. After that the order went out to scrim the helmets to break the outline.
Here's a helmet to add for you. I have a captured ACH style helmet I took off of a Russian VDV soldier in the Mykolaiv region in mid-2022 with Hindi writing and markings.
@aaronmontanez3170 that is because the stahlhelm is the best profile for a helmet it offers better protection than the steel pot or british brodie helmets
The UK MK6 helmet is dam uncomfortable to wear, plus when firing the SA80, when prone with body armour is a nightmare as the armour pushed the helmet over your eyes The only thing to do to fix it was pushed the helmet back up using the top of the sight on the rifle so you could use the sight to fire
Its fun to know that ukrainien have more chance to see a French F2 helmet 🪖 then a real French soldier. In my time those helmets where just for operation.
The majority of helmets provided by the U.K. are actually of the Mk.6A type, the ballistic protection rating of which is similar to the Mk.7 as they are made of aramid rather than ballistic nylon like the original Mk.6
There has been a lot of Turkish helmets alongside ballistic vests popping up in the conflict. Mainly the ones produced by TAF factories and by the company called Garanti Kompozit
The German helmet is actually called "Gefechtshelm M92" (battle helmet M92). First introduced into service in 1992. It was developed by Schuberth, but most examples were made by the Spanish company Induyco.
@@lanasmith4795 nope, was a guy from the modern era making due with the equipment he had available and nothing else as the rest kf his buddies were in full ukrainen army uniforms, looked like the early days of the war
It honestly reminds me of, in COD World At War, during the Soviet Campaign, all the Red Army Infantry are wearing mixed match uniforms, while the Germans are mostly in the same uniform.
I own some of those polish helmets wz 93 is so uncomfortable and the liner does not hold up well over time the 2000 does better but the weight overtime hurts your neck wearing it for long hours
how does the American ACH compare? these appear to have better suspension systems or whatever it's called that makes contact with your dome, but not sure if they're better or worse.
Funny enough, thanks to your many videos, I've found it to be a fun game of 'what is that helmet?' when a clip shows up. Very cool to see some of the weirder, unique stuff get thrown in.
Yes, the Ukraine war has seen some of the reserve and rear units of the DPR/LPR use the SSh-68 helmet. And, in small numbers, some Mosins, PPS-43s, and even some Maxims. I'll see if I can post a link later in an edit.
@@jquill6 Yeah those are probably the pro-Russian separatist from the DPR/LPR, if it's the same footage that I'm thinking of. It was likely an older Soviet steel helmet, like the SSH-68.
@@MikeB128 idk man I was just saying...there were many lower cut helmets in many of the combat footage so I assumed some of them could have been foreign 😅
@@MikeB128 i think i was asking that, dnc is my favorite camo, and im trying to get a nice everything jacket with the pattern, i mightve sounded dumb with how i phrased it, im not the most tech savvy despite my pfp and name. I dont know if i want to make my own since id like to keep my parka in its original condition. But i dont really want to spend upwards of $300 on a shirt im probably only going to wear when im shooting. (Im also kot going to buy some cheap airsoft clothing that breaks on the second dryer cycle)
