I have a feeling the Ukrainians were given the printers to make parts for the challenger 2. They have had quite a long wait to get replacement parts that kept about half the challenger 2s out of action, while some were canibalised to keep the remaining tanks in action.

There is still $2.5 billion of earlier PDA left, the new $8 billion is still untouched as far I understand it. Also, Humvees are always listed as High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles, so those are definitely actual MRAPS. From what I can tell since the aid packages started rolling again, the US has pledged at least 101 M113s, 115 Bradleys, 600 MRAPs, and 1000 Humvees. That’s over 1800 armored vehicles with only $1.4 billion, and those packages included many many other capabilities at scale as well. The US is back.

Hello Johnathan, two wee bits of British military news that seems to have slipped under the general media streams this past week. 1. James Cartlidge (Minister of State, MoD) announced that 114 CVR(T) armoured vehicles, which includes 97 Scimitar vehicles, are being "disposed of". I wonder where they will end up ? 2. The British Army fired the "last" round from Britain's fleet of AS-90 SPGs in the UK. A battery of AS-90s in Estonia will remain there for at least another 9 months (training?). Thought you might like to know.

The PDA authority is exactly that. They can draw down when they have a funding line to attach to the equipment they want to draw down. A RORO ship docked in the Baltic/Poland port a couple of days ago. Many vehicles and ISO containers off loaded. Guessing about a day to drive thru Poland to the border then how long to get to the front?

Jonathan, ref the 3D printers. The Ukrainians will also be able to use them to scan and reproduce components of Soviet era equipment which is still in use, extensively within the Ukrainian army. This will give them the ability to repair equipment as opposed to being forced to canibalise other items. While Soviet equipment isn't generally as good as NATO standard this equipment is still essential in second line capabilities and to avoid it being necessary to use NATO equipment in these roles due to lack of spares. Ultimately it also means that Ukraine can make in house repairs as opposed to being reliant on international logistics systems and while unit costs may be higher no minimum contract orders will be necessary.

If it says MRAP then it definitely isn't Humvees. MRAPs are specifically mine resistant (usually very tall as well) and Humvees are pretty bad at mine resistance

Jonathan, my amazement the next video I watched after yours was BigMacs BattleBlog and lo and behold he was talking about 3D printers.Him being a British drone operator on the Kherson front he showed the actual bombs that he had a small part in designing, explaining quite a bit about them well worth a watch interesting will put the link to the video below in comments

The margin in favor of aid to Ukraine is huge - roughly three to one. The six month delay was a fluke growing out of Matt Gaetz' antics in removing Kevin McCarthy as Speaker, and belief on the part of the Republican majority in the House that they could leverage a hold on aid to Ukraine to get the Democrats to enforce the immigration laws and tamp down the number of illegals flooding into the US. It didn't work. That's all. In the meantime Speaker Johnson got educated about the real nature of the ruzzian invasion of Ukraine, and he's on our side now. Pres. Trump effectively gave a green light for a vote on the aid bill. Thus there won't likely be a problem with aid to Ukraine going forward.

There were 3D printers deployed aboard US Navy ships in either late 2022 or early 2023 in 20- or 40-foot containers that were used to print metal parts for ship repairs at sea, and, if I remember correctly, even some helicopter parts. Those trials were at least successful enough to compel the Navy to expand the program, so the 3D printers certainly do work & are fit for military service. They may not be able to make every single part that might be needed, at least not yet, and may be limited by the kind of materials the printers can utilize (hardened steel or titanium parts can't be printed, at least not at this point, but things like aluminum and composites certainly can) and the size of the parts that the printers can create, but they absolutely do work.

SPEE3D printers were supplied to Ukraine by the Department of Defense through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative and will be deployed in various locations throughout the country. The U.S. Department of Defense invested in seven SPEE3D metal 3D printers and additional training for soldiers and engineers to leverage the technology.

3d mental printer's come in different varieties. The 3d welder printer's and the infusion parts printer's are two. They actually make jet turbine blades with printer's now

The 3-D printer will only be useful if Ukraine can get ahold of 3-D renderings of the parts. Some of the older parts might not have renderings available, but they can be generated when needed if the drawings are available.
