The Armtrac 400 is capable of clearing 2400 square meters per hour and can be operated remotely
At the moment, it is the only machine of the kind in Ukraine, according to Diachenko.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources estimates it will take at least a decade to clear all the mines and explosives from the country.

We have something similar to this in the Bundeswehr. It's called "Keiler" and is basically a tank with a rapidly rotating drum in the front with heavy chains attached to it. The chains will grind through the ground and cause any mines to explode. I believe the US also have something similar to this. Good job Ukraine for coming up with something smaller (and cheaper!) that still does the job just as well!

@@perplexedminstrel8039 that's right + Catherine wheels etc... to try and breach German coastal defences... if they used a stabilitzed 'shaped charge', in the spool itself using a gyroscope, then it would impact the wall at the correct height & place. It would also need to be dveloped so the wheels can collapse in a certain way, so it would 'adhere' correctly to the wall just before it detonated. Unfortunately, it was very unstable, but I think I could of fixed the problem, using 1940's technology, but using a wheel within a wheel - the inner wheel is rigid, with the outer in a multi sectional semi-catapller form, to negotiate uneven ground. Well, I'd give it a damn good go, anyway... 😉

A similar example was the gulf war. Americans send their experts to extinquish the oil well heads on fire. It was taking them ages. A pole had turned up and eventually they let him have a go. 5 mins later, he says shall I do some more? He had put a T-Pipe on the exhaust of a jet engine. Think of the T rotated clockwise with the jet on the left. Put the vertical bit over the well. Turn up the engine and it blows the flame out. You also need to pump in lots of water to cool the head. 5 mins, when the yanks were taking days. It's now, obviously, standard practice.

This is a standard Russian mine-clearing machine. Probably inherited from Russia during the separation in 2014 ..

In terms of its mode of operation, it is somehow reminiscent of the German Army's Keiler mine clearing tank (MiRPz). To do this, it cuts an alley 4.70 m wide and 25 cm deep with 24 counter-rotating clearing elements (elephant foot) attached to a movable clearing device. In the process, the mines are triggered, destroyed or flung to the side.
