7 Wainwright Fells- Great Cockup, Meal Fell, Great Sca Fell, Knott, Brae Fell, Longlands Fell & Binsey
A great day spent on the Northern Fells in the Lake District. The first walk starts from Longlands (Grid Ref NY 267 359) and follows the path, which at first follows Longlands Beck. The path continues up to Trusmadoor when the route turns right and climbs up to the first fell of the day, Great Cockup. From Great Cockup the route heads back down to Trusmadoor and up the other side to Meal Fell. From Meal Fell we follow the clear path up to Great Sca Fell and then turn right up to the highest fell of the day Knott (710m) There is some boggy ground between Great Sca Fell & Knott. From Knott we retrace our steps back to Great Sca Fell and continue straight on to Little Sca Fell and then on to Brae Fell. We then follow the clear path over to Longlands Fell before heading down to the parking area at Longlands.
We then decide to drive the short distance over to Binsey and head up to our 7th Wainwright Fell of the day. The path up to Binsey is clear to follow and heads straight up the fell side.
Total Distance for the two walks is 10 miles.

Great video and hike. Eddie, and great achievement doing 7 wainwrights in one day. Both you and Carol have got great energy and fitness and you make it all look so effortless. Nice to see a part of the Lakes that not too many go to and to bump into one of your many fans. Loved all the blue sky photos, it looked like summer but all those coats you were wearing meant it was cool enough. Looking forward to the next one, regards, Ashley

Thanks Ashley. It was a great walk in great weather, but a really cold wind, so it was good to have our coffee in the shelter on Meal Fell. It was good to bump in to Vince and have a chat with someone who watches the videos. The fells in this area are a really nice part of the Lakes away from the crowds. Thanks for watching & commenting Ashley, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

Hi Eddie and Carol. Thanks so much for another fabulous video. We did this today, but in reverse, [like your man Vince there], and out of respect for Mark’s Dad’s advice. This took us to 98/214. Your video really helped us to orient ourselves and to become familiar with the route and we had a really lovely walk today. Hope to see you out there sometime! Happy hiking, and keep these wonderful videos coming. All the best, Yvette and Mark

You are nearly at the half way point in your Wainwright adventure, keep it going! You never know our paths may cross with you and Mark. Thanks again for your kind comments. Take care & Best Wishes from Carol & Myself

Made sterile and denuded by over and unprofitable sheep farming. There should be thousands of native deciduous trees here which would vastly improve it in all ways . The Green New Deal would keep local families in the area and rewild it.

Not an area I am familiar with(well I am now lol).......that summit(great-cock-up) has a great plateau to pich a tent, good views as well. Yep that was a good shelter in windy conditions(meal fell)......in fact they all had plenty of flat areas for a pitch.....cracking footage of the aircraft.........another excellent video Eddie as usual helpful narration throughout.......ATB.....Stu...👍.

Mrs Metalman just came up and asked why I kept laughing all the time, I said it's Eddie, saying Great Cockup all the time, every time he says it I am in hysterics, I don't know how Carol kept a straight face lol! To be fair I have never done any of these Fells before or even heard of some of them but it did look a cracking walk mind and even better when you are mobbed by fans. Looked real nice walking and although a bit on the chilly side, for the time of year, still great weather. I am always hearing planes but can never see them so that was a good spot mind. Was the car park just a pull off or a proper parking place, before you went to Binsey? Great days walking, cheers Alan
@eddiecaisley5746
@eddiecaisley5746 2 года назад
Ha, you're right Alan, what a name, who named these fells eh! If you notice I didn't put the name of the fell on the screen when Carol was standing next to the tiny cairn on Great Cock Up, ha! It was a cracking walk with no scrambling and fairly easy to follow paths, once we got started. I am like yourself with the planes, I usually miss them, but managed to capture this one for a change. It was good to meet and chat with Vince, who watches the videos. The car parking at Longlands for the first walk is just a pull off at the side of the road beside the bridge, room for around 6 cars. It was similar at the bottom of Binsey, parking at the side of the road, room for 6 or 7 cars . Thanks for watching & commenting Alan, it is appreciated. ( Happy Anniversary to you both, hope you enjoyed Scarborough & Whitby) Cheers. Eddie.

Hi Eddie, Just looking for some advise from yourself in regard to the Cheviot Hills please. I live in Washington tandw, so.a trip to the Cheviots isn't far. However i'm concerned about Otterburn firing range and whether i have to follow their schedule of non firing to walk the Cheviots.I cant find any guidance information on the internet. Any advise would be much appreciated Eddie many thanks in advance. Atb Andy H
@eddiecaisley5746

Hi Andy, you can avoid the military firing ranges without any issues by walking from the Breamish Valley, College Valley & Harthope Valley into the Cheviots. I remember the red flags marking the firing range on the left of the Coquet Valley, but the walk up to Windy Gyle was on the right, so away from the ranges. Hope this helps. Cheers. Eddie.

I see an area denuded by the unprofitable and unnecessary activity of sheep farming. The way to get local families staying in the area and indeed returning to the area is the "Green New Deal". Rewild countryside Britain ASAP. Thanks fro the video. Excellent as always.♥
