A walk up to two Wainwright fells in the Lake District, Cold Pike (701m) & Crinkle Crags (859m)
The walk starts from the top of the Wrynose Pass at the Three Shires Stone.
There is room for around 6 or 7 cars at the top of the pass so it is advisable to start early to get parked.
From the top of the pass we follow the clear path towards Cold Pike.
Before reaching Red Tarn we head left across a faint grassy path towards Cold Pike. The path soon reaches the summit of Cold Pike.
After enjoying the views from Cold Pike we drop down to the clear path leading up to Crinkle Crags. The views heading to the summit of Crinkle Crags are superb. We take the path heading around the back of Crinkle number two up to the summit (859m) After enjoying the fantastic views from the summit of Crinkle Crags we then re trace our steps back down to the Wrynose Pass. A superb walk up to the summit of Crinkle Crags.
Distance is around 6 miles.

Another fantastic video Eddie, super views and photographs everywhere. I'm not sure how it happens but you seem to have blue skies every time you are in the fells - I trust this good run lasts!! I hope Carol enjoyed the drive up Wrynose pass this time, it's definitely tight and narrow in places. Crinkle Crags is a real mountain classic which you made look easy but in misty conditions it would be a huge challenge as the drops looked very big. I think you've got Carol to do a bit of filming too, and you had some really nice walk pasts. I could do with a few tips!! Will be in touch soon, regards, Ashley

Thanks Ashley. It was a great walk in superb weather. I will try to work my magic with the weather for our meet up, ha! Carol was still not keen on the Wrynose Pass and was pleased when we got parked up. I agree with you, Crinkle Crags would be entirely different in poor visibility and is definitely one to do in good weather. I am trying out different things and ideas with the filming to see what works. Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care & speak to you soon. Cheers. Eddie.

Smashing walk there Eddie. Proper fell walking country by the looks of things. A lovely day with stunning views. What's not to like? I'm hoping to get up soon and do the Grasmoor walk again that you did a video of while back. I fell in love with that view over Crummock Water/Buttermere from Rannerdale Knotts, the bluebells will be a bonus. Thanks for posting always a pleasure to watch.

Absolutely gorgeous views all the way around and I am going to have to get some of these summits knocked off here this year, not done one of them in the Langdale Valley yet. The paths looked real good to follow but like you, not keen on the 'bad step', so I would have circled around too. Good to see you got your usual sunny weather, last time I went out it was forecasted full sun from first, to last light - I was out for 5 hours and never saw it once! Cheers Alan

Another great video Eddie. I did Cold Pike and Pike o Blisco from Three Shires last week. Loved it. Hoping to get the Crinkles and Bowfell done soon. It was interesting to see the Bad Step on your video. In my mind I had it as smaller! I think I might be giving that bugger a miss too haha! Thanks for posting and best wishes to you and Carol.

Thanks Alan, it was a brilliant day in great weather. We both really enjoyed this walk and will definitely be doing this again. Believe it or not, our original plan for the day was to do Cold Pike & Pike O Blisco, but changed it to Crinkle Crags when we got there. You are right about the Bad Step, it is bigger than you think. The route up the Bad Step seems to be on the right side as you look up. The path we took around the back is a really good route up anyway. Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is appreciated and Best Wishes from us both. Cheers. Eddie

I see the Three Shire Stone has been replaced and looks like a brand new stone, Is it made from Concrete, looks a bit too new, the old one was missing in 2019 when I was there last

@eddiecaisley5746 2 года назад
Hi Dave. The previous stone was damaged in 2017. From what I can gather this is the same stone which has undergone a restoration. I may be wrong, but I think it is the same one. Cheers. Eddie.
