Hace muchos años que lo sigo , nunca lo he podido ver , gracias a youtube me lo paso pipa viendo sus videos , es el mejor , imitado por muchos , superado por nadie
If you listen to the music, not the tone in this video, his guitar playing and musician skills are incredible. This video shows his interpretation and live performance of some famous classical music pieces. I totally hear the slightly off tuning and it is faithful to the way classical musicians tune their instruments. And his vibrato sounds more like the horizontal vibrato you hear on a violin or classical guitar vs the vertical vibrato electric guitar players use. For me, it is the rubato feel that Uli has on an electric guitar that most of todays electric guitar players do not have or understand. Also, his right hand technique is very graceful and astounding. Uli is one of the very best and most influential guitar players ever.
He really sounds like a violin player..awesome! I had lots of comments about him..but I never listened to him far from Scorpions stuff.. But there is always a time for things..and this is the time for me to listen this...=) Astonished!
Uli is a beautiful guitar guitar player full of texture. Here is simply stunning with his amazing dexterity. I urge people to listen to his Electric Sun LPs especially the magnificent Beyond The Astral Skies - and listen to as music first. It is a magnum opus
Uli's guitar tone at this concert is piercing, trebly, right on the verge of being out of control, and lacking any sort of replication from any other guitar player's tone in this world. And yet, the tone of his Sky Guitar transcends all that was before its creation and all that will ever be created afterwards. And of course, Uli is the shredmaster 5000!
I totally agree with you, as his reason for leaving Scorpions was because their producer wanted him to play thirty minute solos to political Pop songs. I can't imagine him playing lead on either Hurricane or Wind Of Change. Maybe Blackout, but he made the better decision to play his music by himself. As did Yngwie.
@@martinpaddle What a stupid comparison. Jango could never have played that. although I appreciate Jango. It starts with the fact that Jango rarely pulls strings. Oh, that really can't be compared. Not even in the least! Incidentally, I find Ullis sound modest.
From where some of those tones and sounds emanate to me, remains a mystery. Every time I listen to this man play, my ears convince me that I’m not picking up or making sense of a good portion of what I’m hearing. I don’t care about the Blackmore and EVH eras of guitar, because people forget about the guy in-between all of that.
His idea on making a guitar with over 30 frets is one of the very highest achievement in guitar world.. I will choose his guitar among one of the very best and creative guitar ever made
Yeah it's a tad sloppy, and yes his tone is a bit wacky, but the fact is the guy's a god, and has been for about 40 years! His innovation to guitar and influence on classical/rock style has been monumental to the music scene in general. I'd love to have half the talent this guy has. If you haven't heard his work on the Scorpions "Catch your train" off the Virgin Killer album, you haven't lived.....
this is like beyond ridiculous... Uli is by far the greatest guitarist of this era! why don't they invite him to Crossroads fest? It's a travesty that he's not there. Thanks for posting this!
Crazy talented guy ive been privileged to see him so many times over the last 40 odd years . In small venues and big and always a stellar gutiar player
No comment!!!! Super!!! Fantastic- play on guitar!!! Bravo!!! Dear, very nice, respecting, very very talant, musician!!! Thank-you very much for the prof-fantastic-play ,for the music!! Respecting ! Mr.Uli Jon Roth!!! I`love you!!! (fans Sally,Michael)
Uli,mi gran idolo desde siempre, es un gran maestro lastima que no ha sido muy reconocido por lo menos aqui en Mexico no pero debe tener muchos admiradores yo soy uno de ellos long live ULRICH JON ROTH
for those who says he's tone is bad, the sound came from the special guitar.. the bottom master volume for the gigantic sustain.. it's not suitable for playing chords. Sometime he just strum one chord due to live solo playing feel.. It's a common thing in guitar playing.. thats why sometimes we hear the fuzzy sound. Its doesn't mean he has a bad sound. DUHH!!
Considering the fact that Most of That Music was Written for Strings, Harpsichord, or Piano, I LOVE Uli & He LOVES to Play! Tied with Steve Vai. The Best Guitar Jam I Have EVER Heard! God Bless The Great, Uli Jon Roth!
Jason Becker said that he cried when he listened to Uli's playing. Here is why. His vibrato and feeling are always there at the edge, seem so fragile and he is always in the verge to sound "out of tune", just like a violin player does. Un-matchable.
He's one of only three guitarists whose playing is (or can be) so unbelievably beautiful and emotive, I can't help but wipe away tears of envy, wishing I could play that good! Along with Uli, those players would be Michael Schenker and Gary Moore.
I have love Uli's playing since I was first blown away by Beyond the Astral skies in 85. I had never heard anything like it. Far more tasteful than Malmsteen.
uli is an enigma, his playing and interpetations, are his own, musicians in general tend to do this, challenge there self into madness, but i thought it was a unique performance, all in all, love him anyway, can you do this,i doubt it!!!!!!!
A groovy hippie to the end! I think he made that guitar also. I forget how many frets it has but it sure is unique. It looks like the fretboard may be scalloped. This is a guy who should be better known as good as he is. Rock on Uli!
Malmsteen is always credited as the founder of the neo classical style. I think Uli had it down 20 yrs before we ever heard his name. Only Uli does it better, Much more emotion and style. This video is really inspiring.
Ritchie Blackmore deserves mention also. Yngwie copped his style & sped it up. I like Yngwie's playing, his style is his own. But I agree, Uli is so tasteful. He doesn't need to show off to impress.
Yngwie always stated that his biggest influences were Uli and Ritchie ( with Hendrix ). In my opinion he merged Roth and Blackmore's styles of guitar playing .
+Fred Garvin ...there's a recording in 1978 of Malmsteen playing some very Uli style stuff, unless you're suggesting Uli was playing this style since 1958 your statement is ridiculous. The 'no emotion' for Yngwie's playing is absolutely ridiculous, you can see how much Yngwie loves his music and that's all that matters. Being a very proficient player is not the equivalent of showing off. For the record Yngwie if anything combined the styles of Uli/Blackmore...with the wankey tactics of Van Halen...there's a video on youtube "Ynwie Malmsteen guitar solo and bouree" in which you can clearly see him playing his own version of Eruption. I personally like Yngwie's style better than all of the aformentioned players.
I've been playing 44 years and love anyone who loves to play ,its a great fun and love and Ulrich was so smooth when he was young and because of him and people before you get malmsteens and via s who are great of course and if music wouldn't have changed because the new generation hates the 80 s Tina S and Damien Salazar would be famous now and watch Tina she bearly has to look at the neck ,so much of a natural gifted girl who got great fast also
there would be no modern day rock gods without uli. they owe it all to him. without hendrix and uli... no malmsteen, no vai , no vanhalen ,no rhoads, no satriani etc.etc... music would suck without the influence of uli roth.
Eddie Van Halen has never publicly admitted that Uli influenced him, but he did admit it to a Japanese guitar builder friend of mine. I never believed his Eric Clapton BS. Eddie listened to M. Schenker too.. All those guys you mentioned did.
To the folk who are slagging his sound off you need to be educated! What this man is showing that he can speed pick and legato without relying on the gain from an amp. The fact you can hear him pick each note shows how technical he is as a player. He has always said his tuning isn’t exactly on point and that’s because he basis his tuning on the way classical musicians have their tuning, just a little bit off.
Actually you are wrong. Because he cannot do it cleanly. If you are unable to play perfectly clean when playing for an audience, you should slow down the tempo. He played at the regular tempo and was very sloppy. A lot of the time, you can see him just picking any string and every string with no order to what he was playing. He sucked, his tone sucked and his performance sucked. Be real and stop trying to ride the "Uli Roth Train". Lol. Your not cool for saying Uli is god.
Uli's playing is incredible, The Tonal Sound Quality is what is not good. For all who stated negative, about Uli's playing, - try to play these classical classics songs note for note, & with the correct tempo as Uli, " Betcha can't play that".
I wish there was a quick way to learn some of this type of stuff for an already experienced guitar player. I've got the majors, the miners and the modes, but I need some of this neoclassical stuff without spending a year taking lessons to learn it.
I know it's a year later to answer, but look up some transcriptions of his solos. Also, you can watch videos of him doing these live where the camera closes on in his fingers, and show down the playback. You'll then see EXACTLY how he's playing it. Then, there's simply the process of PRACTICING. If your fingers can learn it fast, then great. If not, then it will take as long as it will take. The most important factors in getting a new technique are 1) knowledge, 2) practice, and 3) PATIENCE. Of course, the secret number four is: 4) Vigilance [never give up] GOOD LUCK!!
I am stunned at this tone. Guitar is a work of art, 8-string thingy, and an absolute master. But, totally with you. Tone could use serious tweaking. Ouch. IMHO.
Where this beauty was recorded? In italy, Rome? Because if It'so, i was there, i was 16 years old and remember well this night...incredibile, a night that i'll never forget...this man is incredible, as a musician and as a man
