Hello I just bought an apple HomeKit, Mini, set it up to control two new Schlage encode plus locks, they work with the lock unlocking and locking with the app, but when I say to the mini”unlock Schlage Entrance Lock” it responds “ before I can help with that you’ll need to add a first name or nickname to your information in contacts” and doesn’t unlock the lock, what do I need to do to correct this so it opens the lock, thanks
not much in the home app. more so with using siri if i was guessing to control devices like maybe control multiple devices at once, create advanced automations using voice, etc
If I have Matter smart plugs or smart balls, do I need the Apple Homepod/Google Home or Alexa? Can I control my lights with Siri (from my iPhone with my voice) or from my iPhone/iPad/Macbook with the HomeKit App? Also, can 2 people who are living together with their own devices (iPhone/iPad/Macbook) control at the same time and Sync the HomeKit app? Thank you so much!🙏🏻
you'll need a matter controller for each device you want to use the device in. the home works on all apple devices and devices can be controlled with siri as well as shared with other family members at the same time.
Please let me know how you setup apple when you turn on to turn on and off the background lights on your tv I want to do the same having issue setting up
Hi! 10:56 just you get the notification if somebody open the door, or could you set up your wife or anybody can get it? I can't set it up, I always receive the notifications :(
question. Can any of these gadgets use Power Over Ethernet for power but still be used under apple home kit? I always wondered about that about smart locks.
not natively. poe isn't a natively supported feature from apple. you might be able to use third party bridges but nothing natively is available currently.
Hey Adam, how do u set up privacy on amazon home automation. I would like to use their speaker to connect my aqara door sensor to let us know which door is open.
I don't use HA myself so i can't say from experience but here's a link showing how it can be done: community.home-assistant.io/t/how-to-integrate-lutron-aurora-dimmers-with-home-assistant/231190#setting-up-zigbee-with-home-assistant
Thanks for the tour! A couple notable things…1) i have a 4 year old and 10 month old girls and totally agree that seeing memories of them even months ago can bring a tear to your eye pretty quickly, and 2) i saw you had impractical jokes on for a split second…man i love that show and would give anything if Joe was still on there.
To make it a bit easier you could setup the aquara button so that 1 click is off and one click is on. The whole bunch of bridges behind the tv looks like a total mess. The Philips tv has ambiance so you dont need the lightstrip. My autistic brain cant handle it , black wires on white things and visa versa. Basically nothings seems clean and covert , not even that homepod stand which still shows the wires, it needs a cover on the front. Maybe just the way the video was shot..
Looks good. Like your homecam widgets on iphone. Regarding using contact sensor to turn on lights, it sounds incomplete as not every room will have door opened while using. You are just relying on open state to turn on lights and close state for turn off which is not complete. I do not keep open my closet door in the bathroom while I am inside. Same with laundry room, I close the door while I am cleaning the lint of my dryer or vacuuming the room just to avoid it getting scattered into other rooms.
Thanks for your thoughts. My smart home is designed to work for my wife and I, your needs may vary. What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa ;)
the ipad can't be a home hub when you upgrade to the new home architecture. try setting up your Apple TV in the home app by restarting it or re setting it up.
@@AdamsTechLife Yes it may sound complicated and setting it up may be a bit challenging, but if you follow some RU-vid videos then you will wish, why Didn’t I do this before. Also you can connect all the devices even those that aren’t supported in home kit
I love this idea but hate how slow it is to execute. I only use it in one specific spot at home that doesn’t have to be family or guest friendly and remain intuitive.
