@kanasts7 so do you have a camera or just thinking about it? I know for me i always wanted one and would see them advertised and anyways wanted one but didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a really expensive one finally after years i ended up taking a photography class at a local college and ended up buying a used body and a lens for a little over $200 man my only regret is not doing it sooner. You really could get a camera for less if you're really watching used ones for sale and if you dont need the newest thing, I went with a canon t2i and a brand new Canon 50mm 1.8 but you could find a used body and kit lens cheaper and honestly wish I had a kit lens. I love my 50mm but would like the flexibility of a kit lens, I know I could buy a used one but for what they go for by themselves I would rather just buy a used 17-55 2.8 but then I debate on a 17‐55 2.8 or to sacrafice a bit of wide angle and 2.8 for a 24-105 f4 which will work on a full frame. I should honestly just buy the 17-55 already or sigma 17-50 i don't think I'll regret it because I could resell and get my money back anyway, and ive rented the 17-55 and loved it!

It totally depends on the camera brand, camera body, budget, and what you like to shoot. Some of my all-time favorites though have been the Canon 24mm f/2.8, Canon 50mm f/1.8, Sigma 17-50 f/2.8, Sigma 18-35 f/1.8, and Sigma 30mm f/1.4.

What is the importance of the lens diameter? Is bigger better? And is this the definition of full frame versus not full frame cameras? Can’t find this information anywhere. Thanks.
@JoshWiniarski
@JoshWiniarski 2 года назад
Lens diameter doesn't really matter in terms of performance, and more just comes down the the physics of manufacturing each specific lens. However, full-frame cameras have a bigger camera sensor than crop-sensor cameras which (everything else equal) results in better image quality (greater dynamic range, better lowlight performance, shallower depth of field, etc.). Lens diameter is important to know however, if you start buying filters for your lenses because they need to be the correct size. Hope this helps!
@davedice4688
@davedice4688 2 года назад
@@JoshWiniarski thanks so much. I’m just getting into this with my 12 year old rebel T3 and I’m finding that one metric is almost impossible to find. You can’t filter on the sites by diameter, and they don’t even mention it in the specs! I’m finding the only way to find it is to hope they have a picture with the number on the lens. Any idea why that’s so hard to find? It seems like a first step in finding a new lens to me.

That lenses seems too close and I have to be a bit further from the camera. I switched out to my Panasonic 12-35 Vario 1:2.8/12-35 ASPH. 58 POWER O.I.S., this camera shows more of me at 12 and a lot of my background but its not blurred. However I would like a recommendation on improving my cheap charlie way of microscope like viewing. I need good magnification, with space enough to solder between lense and object(about 30cm) why can't I just get a simple generic glass lense to get the magnification and focal distance that I want Without spending hundreds on a pro microscope?

Thanks mate that was very helpful especially for a biggener like me I have a query though. I am looking to get an a6400 sony. Based on reviews, I made out that a good lens to go with it would be sigma 16mm f/1.4. but if I understood you correctly it would mean that it's good for landscape photography but not portrait ?

I need a lens for wildlife photography shoots and normal portrait shoots as well, which lens should i buy? But I also want it to be budget-friendly. should I buy 2 lenses or is there 1 lens? Is buying second-hand good value?
