Having done quite a bit of cycling, seat height and saddle fit is really important, it's a thing a lot of motorcyclist need to look at .. 👍another good vid . Keep up the good work.

I also upgraded to the tall Seat Concepts seat on my Himalayan. I found everything you said and especially like my knees less bent. When I stop at lights I just lean the bike to the left so I can flat foot on foot. You have some amazing riding areas. Thanks for sharing. Ride Safe

Thanks! I’m still pumped about it. Taking a long trip today, maybe 100 miles round trip. Excited to try it out even further. Thanks for the affirmation!

A fine review of the Seat Concepts Tall seat and a wonderful tour through the trails of Colorado. I've looked at the Seat Concepts website a few times since I got the Himalayan thinking I would need to upgrade the seat. But so far I've had no issues with comfort or riding position. I'm 6'2" with a 33 inch inseam but I don't have any knee problems. Perhaps my biggest concern about the tall seat is the more tenuous touch on the ground. Right now I easily flat food the Himalayan with plenty of room left for weird situations. With the tall seat that would be different. Also, I'm not riding on as many unmaintained roads as you are. There are some but I'm largely staying away from the single trails and Jeep trails. Getting too old for that. Thanks for sharing your perspective. One question. Did you buy the upgrade for the rear seat too?

Hey Steve! Thanks for that. Just got back from a pretty kind ride on it. Total 150 miles I believe. The seat did well. It is definitely an adjustment. But, heck, if it works as is with no issues that’s less to deal with. I realize there’s tons of roads that lead to great places without having to have a near death experience. So, I’m with you on that. Only 1500 miles on the bike and I think I’ll be settled onto my groove by the end of the summer. Somewhere between crazy and sublime roads. Thanks?

Nice how the aero worked better for you with this seat. I have the same seat but ultimately found I didn’t prefer the change to the center of gravity or the geometry of the cockpit. I compromised and sliced an inch or so of foam off the top. That allowed me to re-profile the shape a bit to be more uniformly flat. After about 15,000 miles of trying every other seat option, this saddle is the best. Especially for those of us that get the sides of the OEM foam failure that can make long hauls more difficult.

Weird and a total fluke that it worked I’m sure. Good idea with yours. Guess now I know how to do it re doing it won’t be hard. Thanks!

Take the fairing off in the summer. The smooth airflow is marvelous! Looks very cool also.....
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Год назад
May do that. The challenge with heat is at low speed primarily. The cluster and “stuff” behind the fairing is a little messy, but I’m a fan of airflow. I’ll put it to the test. Thanks!

I also upgraded to this seat. While it's much better than stock, I find it a bit too firm. I ended up adding a Purple Brand seat cushion and sheepskin which helps a lot. I don't sit well for long distances so this is partly just me. I'm 6'1" with a 33-34" inseam and I find the height perfect. I do wish they made a flatter version so you don't slide forward though but I agree that it alleviates strain on the knees. I contemplated a Corbin but I couldn't justify that kind of money on such an inexpensive bike. Cheers!
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures Год назад
Great idea for the firmness. Going on the first longish trip today. We’ll see how it goes. I didn’t get the Corbin cause I don’t think it would be great for off roading. Stay tuned. Thanks!

@@vpmassacre4771 sounds like you made it. That’s awesome! These handguards have been great for 4 different spills. Most of them tip overs, but still they worked great.

I only made the first leg... the Himalayan survived but I struggled with the elevation and soreness, crashes and tip overs... I am too old and out of shape...you'd love it!

@@vpmassacre4771 well. I appreciate the confidence. I tore a muscle and blood vessel a month ago from throwing my leg over a bike at a dealership. Still recovering from that. After 50 we can’t take much for granted. Have fun out there!

RON.ITS ONLY A FRIGGIN' SEAT!! I AM THINKING ABOUT A SIDE-CAR FOR MY HIMMY. ALSO, SINCE I HAVE BEEN OVER OPHIR PASS ON A175 CC, A 250 CC XT AND A 350 XT YAMAHA- YOU HAD BETTER PREPARE FOR THE RIDE OF A LIFETIME- ESPECIALLY THE SILVERTON SIDE.. MIGHT WANT TO PUT YOUR ENGINE AND TANK GUARDS BACK ON. IT AIN'T EASY, MY FRIEND!!! I LIVED IN OPHIR FOR MANY A MOON..... JOHN IN NORWOOD

Hey John! Going through Hermosa tomorrow. Should be straightforward. Engine guards still on. And Ophir is on the plan when the snow is all gone. More practice until then. Thanks!

Does the tall seat make you slide forward at all? My dealer has one on his personal bike and he said it did for him..
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures 12 дней назад
Hey there. It actually does the opposite for me. I felt gravity pulled me forward more when I had the stock seat. Being almost level with the rear, I’m a lot less cramped and able to spread out over what would have normally been the jump between the front and back part of the seat. May just be a personal geometry thing though.

@@swcoloradoadventurestoday I rode about 35 mi with the dealers seat on my bike. It felt great. I will be ordering one. Now the decision is to staple it myself or send them the seat pan. I have done them before and they never come out looking just perfect.

Is the rear a 120/90 or a 130/80? Maybe other than that? Thanks@@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures
@swcoloradoadventures 11 месяцев назад
@@mattperry6965 The rear is 120/90 stock. It seems like I have heard that folks have mounted 130, but I would not swear by it. The challenge is its a 17" rim which kinda limits the options over an 18". But there are still options that work. Thanks!
@mattperry6965
@mattperry6965 11 месяцев назад
Right, I just got a 130 because of limited options. I have not mounted it yet. Just hoping to confirm it will work before I tackle it. Thanks for your input.@@swcoloradoadventures
